Not going tp happen. It definitely looks like Xbox will be better competition. For sure. Just remember, Xbox has never beaten Playstation in all 3 console gens. This won't be the one they do it.

MS will want to start recouping some of that 7.5 billion they spent. One of the best ways is to keep all these games multiplatform for the forseeable future. Why limit hour sales for those games to only Xbox users when you can more than double it with PS5 customers also?
Its the same story every console launch though. The launch day consoles are always hard to find. Remember when Xbox 360 launched? You couldn't find those thingd anywhere for like a month after launch. And even then it was just scarce amounts herr and there. It really wasn't until around February that they started being readily available for anyone that wanted one.

When Disney bought Fox all we heard for months was how mad people were because Disney was now a monopoly, even though they are no where close to being that.
MS spent 7.5 billion to buy Zenimax. They will want to start making that money back asap and the best way to do that is to keep their games on as many platforms as they can. Otherwise they would be losing out on a lot of potential sales. 7.5 billion is nothing to scoff at and will take a while to make back.
Now, once they make that back I could see them going the MS exclusive route. But who knows? Its still a lot of money to miss out on.
I mean, they spent 7.5 billion to buy Bethesda. They'll want to make that money back asap. Which likely means their biggest titles will remain multiplat.....for a while anyway. If they make them exusives they would be cutting their potential audience/sales by more than half.
Seems to me like the smart thing would be to keep those titles on as many platforms as they can until they make their money back.

Thats how Gamestop has always done console launches. They keep taking orders and once they blow through their initial stock you go on a waiting list. But you are right. They've mostly been transparent about that in the past. But Gamestop is hurting and has been doing very underhanded things with customers for the past few years, so it doesn't surprise me that they would trick people into thinking they are getting a pre-order console.
MP was a lot of fun in ME3. Not a fan of the Lootbox gear and weapons for rral money, but we played it enough to where I was able to get a lot of really good stuff without spending anything.
The only reason would be to undersell Xbox. But I don't think they are worried about Xbox outselling them. At least they shouldn't be. But it wouod be nice to give them bragging rights again of having a lower costing product.

The whole "kids console" thing is stupid, no matter what console you're talking about. You used Gears as an adult game example, but you can also cut demons from hell into pieces with a chainsaw in Doom on Switch.
