"If you divide that with the 80 employees they have, and calculate the three year development time: 15680000 / 80 / 3 = 65K USD per employee per annum."
The thing is, the employees aren't getting paid based on how much the game earns. They are getting paid steadily throughout development. And without knowing how much a game will earn, there's no way the company can know how much to pay their employees if they were going off the game's earnings.
Which is basically how it's been since launch. I don't blame Sony or MS at all for this. But man it's really sucked.
Few problems with your logic.
1. Returnal is a very niche game thats exclusive to a yard to get system.
2. Miles is a continuation/expansion of a very accessible and loved game. (I do agree the lower price does help it though.)
3. Why would they mention Returnal selling less than a million, but not Demon Souls?
I agree with that. I also thought the two Star Wars games didn't include MT's after a demand from Disney after all the Battlefront 2 fallout. But that was just my theory. Deadspace seems to prove that wrong though.
You're missing the point. Likely because you just read the headline. Microtransactions never existed before. The gaming industry used to be 100% microtransaction free. So the fact that MT's have gotten so out of hand across the entire industry, and so many have spoken out against them, that companies now feel its necessary to make it very clear any time their games DO NOT have them, is a bit silly. Yes, they SHOULD be doing that to make it known they don't have MT's. But they...
I'm of the opinion that people should support the games EA releases that don't have microtransactions.....if the game interests them of course. Fallen Order, Squadrons, and Dead Space have no microtransactions, which is a step in the right direction that ALL companies should be taking, but aren't.
At first I thought Fallen Order and Squadrons having no MT's was a demand from Disney after the fallout from Battlefront 2, but since they are not including them ...
EA has actually made some good steps forward in some of their single player games. Fallen Jedi, Squadrons, and now Dead Space. None of them have microtransactions. So they obviously see the outrage of fans and are trying to do something about it.
At least it seems on paper. It's my understanding that their sports games and other things do still have microtransactions. So until they do away with them in those games also, EA will always be looked at as untrustworthy
Mortal Kombat 9 was the best game in the series. Bar none. It had slightly better combat (it was a little faster) and the best MK roster out of the entire series.
This is just my opinion of course.
Accessibility doesn't necessarily mean difficulty, man. It could also be something like color blind, or some other physical disability that kept people from playing it in the past. Read his quote:
"All those elements of accessibility will definitely be something important for us in terms of opening the Dead Space experience to a broader set of people that didn’t necessarily have the opportunity or could play the game when it came out"
That ...
Star Wars Fallen Jedi and Squadrons were both very good with no paid microtransactions....
To YOU it wasn't a classic. To many others it was. If it's not for you, then that's fine. Don't buy it or play it. But acting like everyone else is wrong for being excited for this is a bit silly.
It doesn't speak for itself because you were WRONG. Clearly you DO need to read the article because you thought it was a remaster from just watching the trailer. Which was wrong. It isn't a remaster. Maybe reading for once would have helped here, no?
So a game has to be a 10/10 or nominated for GOTY for people to love it? Your logic isn't making any sense at all. And YOUR opinion isn't fact any more than anyone else's.
Why do you have such a hard time with the fact that this game has a big following of people that love it? Why does that bother you? Like I said, your opinion isn't wrong. You don't think it's special. But quit telling people they are overhyping it. It's their opinion. They play...
1. Not a remaster.
2. Not pointless.
I know it is. But this is a remake. So yeah, it will have things from the original. I'm wondering why you would assume it's a remaster. Not to mention reading the article tells you it's a remake.
Ripoff of RE4? What in the world? Those two games are nothing alike aside from both being survival horror, which Dead Space did MUCH better, mind you. I would love to hear how Dead Space was a ripoff.
And I'm not overhyped anything. People LOVE Deadspace. You are clearly under-hyping it.
It's not a remaster. Cut off limbs was a main gameplay element in the series lol. Why would that saying make you think this is a remaster?
First of all, read the article. Its not a remaster.
2nd, since you didn't read the article, what about this reveal trailer looks like a remaster?
3rd, do you not know what remasters are?
The hell it wasn't. Dead Space single handedly revitalized the survival horror genre. It had amazing graphics that still hold up today, fantastic and smooth gameplay and combat, true to form survival horror tropes, and an actual feeling of dread with every step Isaac takes.
Unbelievable awesome game.
You have to remember this is a very niche game. And not many people have PS5's. And it was a AA game. I'm sure if they weren't happy with sales and it lost them a bunch of money they would not be saying they are happy with it.
