To be fair though, I installed the game (took quite a while) and I still had long loading times.
So now that they aren't pushing Jade Raymond in our faces they are buying the girls in?
I guess this way will be less controversial.
"Sounds" rubbish compared to a proper surround sound system but if priced correctly could appeal to people on a slightly tighter budget.
I think they should forget western tastes. We have plenty of western developers to make western games but the number of people making Japanese games is dwindling. I like Japanese games to be Japanese, it's what gives them the unique feel compared to western games. But maybe I am in the minority here and that most western gamers only like western games and that's why Japanese devs are trying to appeal to them.
If that was the only price then it wouldn't be so bad but they are asking for £40 of my hard earned cash as well!!
I don't get it. In reality don't you want a time that is suited to all those things? Nobody buys a tv and says "right I am mainly going to watch movies so it really doesn't matter if it can play games well". Most people who buys a tv for movies will still want the option of using the tv for games as well. People want TV's that do everything not just some things well and other things crap.
Pointless video if you ask me.
If I was Square I would take this debate as a complement. When people say your in-game graphics are CGi then you know you're doing well.
You are being sarcastic with a name like that. Right?
"Had this been an Xbox Live/PSN exclusive, the visuals probably would have gone to the next level, but for a multiplatform release that includes the Wii, it’s cool"
I actually don't agree with this statement. I think the visuals have been purposely kept as they are to give the old skool feel to the game.
Get rid of the skinny jeans!!
at least that review justifies why they like it. In fact I think they give more justification to their score than this IGN review.
For exanple, why is it the game has to score low in graphics just because the reviewer doesn't like the design. Technically he doesn't mention any problems with the game, no graphical glitches or anything. Visually I can see they game isn't top class but it looks better than a 3.5 to me.
Folklore is an example of a netherworld that isn't the stereo type. It's colourful and magical and artistic rather than the usual fire and demons. While these things may not hold sway with you it is a great example of how a netherworld can be done differently.
Point being, it's down to imagination. Just because a dev says "hell" doesn't mean it has to be exactly the same as every other game's hell.
For me 12 and 13 were bad. I agree with the reasons about for why 12 was bad. Character development and story. I think largely this was rectified in 13 but everything else was lost like side quests and towns and a world to explore.
Have you played/seen the Folklore version of the netherworld?
This article in the last paragraph seems to think that doing well is based on critical reviews but we all know that what the critics think doesn't really have anything to do with it.
Dude, how about elaborating on what has disappointed you? What are you not impressed with?
They missed out the Jaguar controller!
Actually, I jest. The jaguar controller was horrible. I know the centre bit was meant to be an equivalent to a PC game pad but I think it just ended up being confusing. Still, I always appreciate innovation and doing something different!
Always getting f**ked up by d1cks?
Every month we hear about games that have come and gone by without many people noticing or at least not as much notice as the game deserves. These games get branded as "underrated".
Articles like this would be a great medium to promote those games. To let people know about the qualities of a game that doesn't have a big marketing budget to tell everyone about about a game they want to hear about or not.
IMHO, every single game you listed won...
I think both this blog and your post have good points about what needs fixing. The main point I agree with here is the narrative point. However, dare I say it that FFXIII did shake things up a bit in this area but not always for the better (and to an extent so did FFVII all those moons ago) but for me what they gain in starting the game at a different point in the characters life they lose a little in emotional investment. I am speaking personally here so I don't expect anyone to share my...
