I was thinking the same thing. Surely as developers, as creative people, as artists they would want to flex their creative muscles more than what this game asks them to do? It can't be very fulfilling......

Fond memories of the Final Fantasies of old and promises that this game will make up for the previous game's short-comings. That will keep a lot of people enticed.
I didn't like the last game but I am still following this just to see if it can. However,the won't get my money until I'm satisfied that this game is what we all want it to be.
Failing that, just being fun would help.

I think the new body is an improvement; athletic but well proportioned. It's the new face a don't like. It doesn't look pretty to me at all.

I think this article is a bit out of context. If the designers were told "Right, you have to design a cast of female characters that are both practical and realistic" and then the designers came up with that list then yes, the designs are a complete fail. But I suspect that the criteria was somewhat different.....

Your exposition on the review is little convoluted for my taste. I am not sure whether you are commenting on this review, commenting on Thostien's "critique" of the review or just commenting on the review process in general.
Either way, I agree with your point that care should be given when applying clichéd phrases to games.
I played the demo but no matter how much I tried (went through all the menu's and switched everything I could find off) it still gave lots of hints on the puzzles. I wanted to play it like an old school puzzler with zero help!
