While that is true, it's also worth stressing the 63% average score (on OpenCritic) too. Here's the methodology:

The text is kinda small, but you'll find this hyperlink right below the final score stamp of each review.

@your reply to me
I'd push back against score inflation IF comparing to 7th gen in full swing, but still slightly agree overall. Today, I see a greater plurality of sites that've edged back more towards 6's being reluctant recommends to genre fans. Regardless of how the average site does it, what I always stress is trying to meet a reviewer halfway. In this case for VGChartz, the site methodology DOES NOT reflect a 7.5 as middling; in fact, middling is an adj...
-"Let's face it, in this day and age, a 7.5 score is a middling, average game and I just don't see that with FW unless you are not a fan of the genre."
"Middling" or "average" do not belong in a 7.5/10 score on this site's methodology, neither should it for games as a whole.
While I appreciate you making me feel so popular, let's try to stay more on topic.
I honestly can't say for sure, but I don't get how that's relevant to my response. When you chime in about FW's tweak on Ubisoft radio towers, your feelings on that don't contradict what's literally brought up right above you: there's value to iterative improvement too.
@F0X
I haven't even said anything against this game, dude. What are you even on right now?
To add some context:
-5/10 for GoT 1.0
-7/10 for Director's Cut (Iki Island + QoL improvements since first launch)
-"... as if that alone is a bad thing."
Considering how the review description already states iteration or refinement on established ideas aren't "a bad thing at all," I get the feeling you're arguing past each other.
Don't you need a valid SE account just to try it out? If what I heard is true, it seems insane to burden potentially interested players like that.
@Knushwood
Heh... fair catch on that one. But you do see your Porsche example isn't the highest value listed in this article, right? Unless you want to be insanely semantic, there's no avoiding this title's current $40 claim regarding the Aston Martin or McLaren P1.
@KnushwoodButt
Exactly. Now, let's hypothetically say you started GT7 at 0 credits and wanted to IMMEDIATELY get that Porsche (for whatever reason). How much will you have to spend to make that a reality?
-"You're comparing 40$ for cars you can unlock WITHOUT paying to premium content or battle passes that you HAVE to pay to get. And battle passes are paying AND playing to unlock."
Actually, that battle pass analysis isn't correct for many popular titles. You don't HAVE to pay to opt in for these rewards either, but can purchase levels in said pass to reach the better rewards at any time.
-"If i hear it's a grind to get cred...
Saying no to horse armor or season passes wouldn't have stopped other companies from trying different revenue streams.
-"A lot of games give you the option to buy in game currency if you don't want to earn it in game. DMC and GTA come to mind."
Right, but that's fundamentally part of the concern: are they subtly tweaking their design philosophy and xp rewards in order to lift up that "optional" microtransaction route. I mean... COME ON, bruv. Up to $40 for ONE vehicle. Now I'm not ignorant of the usual battle pass system or premium content, but those typic...
Holy hell. And to hold off on revealing it until release day is incredibly telling.
No. One of my biggest qualms with EDGE's score structure is never listing the individuals who wrote the review. It gives it this air of a committee determining the final score.
Nothing says contrarian like "I don't think this game is an absolute modern classic, but it's still great nonetheless."
-"Metacritic does not include any 2/10 scores, considering it to be a troll."
From my experience, MetaCritic's "filtering" of approved critics is cryptic and unprofessionally handled. TechRaptor is listed as a Top Critic on OpenCritic.
I've been meaning to try that one out too.
I feel like I ought to clarify some things regarding Destruction AllStars.
The car players are earning up towards is their special vehicle. Regular ones, varying from light, medium, or heavy, continuously spawn throughout the match in designated spots. I'm not sure what you mean about the customization concepts when comparing to Rocket League. From what I remember, there were different styles for each Hero, their special car, and regular vehicles. I can't reca...
