Sorry you're all under the weather. We should all chip in for a "Get well soon, Catastrophe Family" card.

-"now how did I know you'd be in here championing the 'no more attractive people in games' fight."
Given that I've never championed something like that, I haven't the slightest clue. I'm willing to guess that expectation comes from me having to challenge your arrogance of months past.
-"So now we can't draw on her actions and need a direct statement to know the truth? There is no misogony or pandering. For god's...
-"Then you have people like Anita Sarkeesian who is very much saying having attractive characters is wrong (if they're women)."
There's yet to be a quote from her saying {any} attractive women in games is wrong. It's the redundant nature of an industry that makes her question if it's all cheap pandering, misogyny, and stories including women that consistently fail the Bechdel test.
-"Would you want to play a game as a person wi...
Brink is probably the most respectable train wreck I've played of this generation (a weird award to give, I know). Given the moderate success this dev had prior to making this game, it's shocking to see how unrealized their initial concepts were.

I have to respectfully disagree with your adoration for this title.
Happy New Year, everyone!
Guess it's time to change my holiday-themed avatar. :(
I personally think a better graph in gauging maturity (in the way you mean it) is the community's responses TO those issues, rather than the issues themselves.
-Given the insensitive remarks/blogs directed towards anyone questioning any form of sexism in games, I see a group of the community unwilling to have this discussion and prey on said complainers' possible physical traits, social status, etc.

I personally haven't played Hotline Miami but I'm not exactly sure why American Nightmare should be the go-to title to slam the entire list.
I suppose the thing that makes me hold AW's AN in higher regard was the fact that it successfully funneled gameplay/graphical components into what made the original an exemplary $60 title for a quarter of the price. Try stepping back for one moment and compare it with what's been done to the DL TPS in year's past. ...
The term 'harmed' isn't necessarily funneled solely to the game's quality. In Dead Space 2's case, the harm MP did against it was from the gamer's outlook of the title, grieving about the mode because it serves as a microcosm for our industry's thinking today.
It also makes gamers wonder what, if any, resources were moved away from SP to MP. It's still regarded as a great SP, but could it have been a masterpiece if MP was never thought of du...
Although I'm inclined to wait and see the results, I must admit these MP announcements are getting tiresome at this point. There's dozens of examples where MP has felt forced in b/c the suits fly in saying "Marketers says MP is needed!"
Bioshock 2, Dead Space 2, Yager's complaints about its MP in Spec Ops, and many more games have been harmed because of this grotesque industry's way of thinking.
I'll still wait until Tomb Raider...
Take that same realm of thinking over to film and it would be like crediting a solid mainstream movie over a masterful art film. Both serve as having two different identities. Almost all of those titles you've mentioned serve to improve upon past conventional setups whereas Journey has been stated (haven't played it yet) to adventure towards something new in the 'art game' genre with an adequate price.
Judging from what I've seen/heard, Journey doesn'...
Although I personally can't speak for what Fox News has done THIS election year, they were graphed as the fairest at giving McCain and Obama positive/negative press.

It would look better if I weren't reminded that Chris Pine's lifeless self is involved in this series.
Rather inconvenient of you to create a top 10 list only a day before Earth's big finale.
Just saiyan
I must admit I'm surprised to see GRAW and R6V grouped under the term "letdown." I found those two to be two of 2006's best titles.
You're complaining about scores for two games analyzed by two different reviewers, in completely different genres, and two different price ranges (Edit: Kinect Party is free).
Your argument doesn't seem to have a semblance of cogency.
"'Recent court decisions demonstrate that some people still do not get it. They believe that violent videogames are no more dangerous to young minds than classic literature or Saturday morning cartoons. Parents, pediatricians, and psychologists know better. These court decisions show we need to do more and explore ways Congress can lay additional groundwork on this issue."

Well...now you're sort of traipsing away from the blog's intention. Society's broader definition of villain doesn't necessarily mean they're categorized as one. Their funneled view of someone selling drugs instantly paints that person as a "villain," despite the fact he/she may have been forced into this transaction by cartels or what have you.

Some solid comments on this idea already. I personally think an "undercooked" section of the show is needed to give credit to an intellectual blog/article/etc. that just didn't get the temperature it deserved (in your opinion).
It would be interesting to also have separate prizes given only through the show (even menial goodies) that are awarded for fan art, poems, or something off-beat.
I also think this could be a great platform for those i...
