Certainly has potential to find a healthy audience.
"...and to some degree that block game that Microsoft recently bought."
Nice one, Trond. ;)
Seems like a unique twist that can maintain a healthy community.
"Could it be the same people as the Steam hack?"
It's possible.
It just happened with me too. Everything worked well while watching a movie + some youtube vids and then...*snap* lose connection.
They didn't exactly hire the best voice actor for the trailer, but the concept still looks fun. A more goofy shooter combining the popular Minecraft style to FPS classes. I can dig it.
Co-op sounds great. Hopefully that co-op extends to splitscreen as well. A lot of games seem to be foregoing that in favor of just online co-op, which is a shame.
Y U so lucky you get to cover Cuphead, Valenka??! >:(
Woohoo! Moar gift cards! :D
I've gotta say this game in particular is one that's close to my 'gamer heart' (for lack of a better phrase) since it was first announced. The idea of using such a unique artstyle as this and using that inspiration for these cool boss fights feels like a perfect match.
It's gotta be a Day 1 purchase for me.
This guy included. August is becoming a pretty crowded month, from indies to AAA stuff. Several platforms have some special games coming.
Although I try to not to let mechanical polish influence my reviews too much, I can't deny that I can't help but have my judgement clouded (at least slightly) if it feels polished to a tee. Destiny is definitely a recent new IP example that pulled me in for hours and hours on that alone.
Good interview, Kyle Gaddo.
"If you think about a game like Gradius, the way you remember it, it's probably very good. Until you go back and play it again, then it's nto that good."
I'm tempted to jump back and play Gradius just to say "nuh-uh!" I remember that holding up fairly well.
You seem to be easily interested in new games. ;)
I know "potential" is something that's been used quite often for many of these indie titles, but this seems like one that's really showing off in comparison to the rest of the field.
Shredders, you say? EXPLOSIONS, YOU SAY?
Well...I guess you can count me in. Looks like a load of fun.
Robot Loves Kitty just sounds like an awesome dev name. Like the meow at the end of this teaser too. Don't change it.
Some pretty funny answers here to those At A Glance questions though.
Well, I'll give them credit for not garnering lukewarn responses to this.
Myself, I just don't see the wide appeal in making this setup viable in the long run. And that's tough to say because without a moderate consumer audience the amount of people who can play will just fall to zero.
Dem gift card opportunities!
Judging by some of the info, the title "weirdest game at PAX" seems to fit here.
Seems like a fair reason to worry. Taking away hand-crafted levels to fit for the platforming design in the hands of an automated quasi-randomizer could backfire.
"...and battle mighty bosses in the name of saving the human race maybe!"
Like that little touch with the maybe at the end. ;)
So such a short trailer, it actually did a great job of showing what's in store for the player. Short and sweet.
Nice to see a more successful steam Early Access story from this developer. Good set of interview questions, Kyle.
"We're lucky to have brought Eitan Glinert (from Fire Hose Games)..."
You know...I recall Fire Hose Games appearing on last year's IndieMonth. Funny to see that one pop up again.
Edit: I don't get why everything's in italics here.
The megaman entices me more than the rougelike aspect but regardless it looks like a fun romp. I would rather go for the sword-wielding Ace in this situation.
Nice to see some Norway indie pride up in here now (perhaps I'm forgetting an earlier example though).
I dig this twist on the shooter formula.
