@zealous
A lot changes in a year. Black Ops 3 had a big name behind it.
Its because DC had a free version, right?
@Hoffman
Yeah, with bullshots and staged gameplay segments not representative of the final product.
They cancelled a few games (Crysis3, Ghost Recon f2p, etc) but i cant see them messing up with a reveal video like that. Those games were announced but Nintendo didnt really go out of their way to demonstrate them.
Theres a good chance that wasnt the NX build of Skyrim, but i think its safe to say Nintendo wouldnt put it in if they weren't expecting it.
I think Nintendo might have a deal where theyre holding back announcing Switch games, and Bethesda...
I dont get why a character's sexual orientation has to be obvious. For all i know Zarya could be a butch lesbo.
You cant honestly say that the PS4 is getting early access content... becase Rockstar TRUSTS them? Gimme a break.
Sony penned a fat check just like MS did for GTA 4's DLC. Even with the PS4 as the dominant platform, Rockstar has become so massive now that anybody has to pay big for exclusive anything.
@Eonjay
You do understand that's not how it works right? Playstation and Xbox are both massive sources of income. Even if the Xbo...
The bigger question is, does it need to? They already have Japanese developers on their side, and the 3ds didnt need more than Nintendo and Japan to sell over 60 million.
But the difference is you cant take the Wii U on the go, and they know how to market this thing way better than the Wii U. There's little confusion as to what the Switch is as opposed to the Wii U.
I bet the 399 bundle will come with the pro controller, too. Hell, maybe even the 299 one. Nintendos got an uphill battle so they need to get these things into homes fast.
Western support is the issue for sure. I think Japan is a shoo-in because people there have been eager for SOMETHING to dethrone the 3ds in terms of game flow.
I think Nintendo needs to make western-oriented games internally to get the ball rolling. Thats originally why they bought Retro Studios, after all. They could also buy more western talent or fund some exclusives.
The difference is that the portability of it will make it big in japan. This gives a place other than the 3ds for games like Monster Hunter and Fire Emblem to go.
The PS4 and Wii U both saw slow Japanese adoption, and this might be the savior of console gaming in Japan PURELY because it doubles as a portable.
I can already tell their marketing is 1,000x better than the Wii U's. They aren't emphasizing the kid-friendliness, but the fun.
...
The thing is... if its a prequel why call it Red Dead Redemption 2?
@Vanfernal
True, but even though they were prequels they technically had different protagonists. They also had subtitles. This is Red Dead Redemption 2, plain and simple unless that changes.
The thing is the mass market doesnt do research and as long as they fool somebody the ad is worth it.
Agreed on the tech moving too fast. We have massive teams with long development cycles, forcing bigger marketing budgets to make up the cost. Every game made is a huge gamble for everyone involved, and it forces them to think in terms of what sells rather than what's new.
All of these studios are closing left and right, pretty soon we'll only have a few major publishers with colossal work forces cranking out the same franchises over and o- wait... are we already t...
@UCForce
No company is without its faults. All of the big 3 have their strengths and weaknesses.
@moldybread
An exclusive from Rockstar is waaaaay too expensive.
Also i hope to god the multiplayer isnt modeled after GTA Online. That game is literally not fun unless you buy shark cards or cheat for money. I dont want to play Red Dead Microtransactions.
@abzdiine
RDR remaster is unlikely... the game is very complex code and that is the reason it never had a PC port and why it is glitchy as far as Rockstar games go. It's also why the multiplayer is broken to this day. Members of the dev team often said it was a miracle it ever came out.
In other words - get hyped for Red Dead 3!
@10th
I know, i wrote a blog touching on this. I dont really understand why people disagreed with me so much, im curious to see their perspective.
The 7th gen was already a step down from the 6th imo. But the 8th gen is a software wasteland of missed potential, buggy games, and delays.
I agree that the xbone pales in comparison to the 360, but i feel the same about the ps4 and ps3. If you put these consoles' first 3 years side by side, its shocking how bad the 8th gen looks.
i still play splitscreen and local multiplayer, and its still fun as hell. That's actually the one thing Nintendo's always got my back on.
