I can practically guarantee that it won't have support (the question is, what size hard drive does the NS have?), but hopefully Nintendo can nag Bethesda into some Link clothing or LoZ interior and dungeon music replacers. I'm playing on PC cause that is the only real option, but I'd buy Skyrim for the NSwitch to play it on the go IF everything else works out.

Generally speaking, you can get a 64GB SD card for as cheap as about $25. That is pretty expensive in comparison to the cost of a Blu-ray.
costs from Newegg:
50GB 6X 3-pack: $18
50GB 6X 10-pack: $30-38
50GB 6X 25-pack: $47-73
50GB 6X 50-pack: $94
(yeah, I don't understand these prices either, but you get similar differentials with SD anyway)
100GB 4X single: $30-68
100GB 4X 10-pack: $60

Well, the Japanese tend to embrace Nintendo well enough anyway, even through trying times, but it never really seems to help Nintendo much (don't forget that Sega was by far the most popular in Japan during the 5th and early 6th gen, and that didn't matter much in the grand scheme of things). I think it's the missing Western support that Nintendo have needed for generations now.
I've got good feelings about the Switch, where before today I was resigned to N...
Pro Switch, that has a good ring to it.
Somehow I doubt Nintendo will ever again use DVDs (and they only did that with the Panasonic GQ), but hopefully at least it will be backwards compatible with the Wii U or more.
@Krangs_Uncle
All very good points
The PS4 has a chip for HDR, but I think in comparison to the PS4 Pro, the original PS4 is supposed to have kind of bottom-rung HDR similar to last year's HDR-compatible TVs (MUCH better colors than any SDR televisions). Sony was thinking ahead, but the tech was not quite ready. Microsoft is quite a bit more transparent, we know the Xbox One didn't ship with HDR capability installed.

As it turns out, the chip I was remembering was actually the ...
It is believed to use a Tegra X1 chip, actually. While it is possible, hopeful even, that it could use "Parker," that would be quite a surprise. The leaked specs point to the original chip, or a modified variant.
The NX would be a viable system at X2 levels of performance, but still 3/4 of a gen behind the other consoles to be released soon.
WOW... that is not at all how the third-party abandoned Nintendo. The fanbase only buys first-party because that is the majority of what is on offer, increasingly so since Gen 5. Although a complicated matter, you could say that Nintendo essentially lost developer support due to frustrating business practices and hardware.
Won't be sold out on Steam! :)
Can't wait!
Bethesda already announced that they retextured the whole of Skyrim for the Special Edition, beyond the 5 year old HD texture pack, so I wouldn't count on Bethesda updating Skyrim's textures again for PS4P or Scorpio. BUT... it is entirely possible that both or either consoles could use better anisotropic filtering to get the most out of textures, even modded ones.
Which brings me to the point that, as much as I love Bethesda's work, they make awful textures (fr...
Or Capcom's fault.
@SirBradders
You don't remember "Sega does what Nintendon't"?
@fries, and generally everyone
I am a little late to the party, but I'm here commenting from within a hurricane (isn't technology great?) just to say that there are more important things in life than to let a review, argument, disappointment, or righteous disbelief of someone else's viewpoint make you so emotional. Remember what is important.
Side note: yes, I know that might sound a little hypocritical coming from someone who decided to brow...
@InTheZoneAC
Uh, that's like the easiest thing to do. You just flip the essential flag to nonessential. Should be one of the first mods on every platform, but you might want to wait to make sure an experienced mod author makes sure certain NPCs remain essential for important quests.
@gangsta_red
"Except it's not really the same mod support that is found on Xbox and PC now is it?"
"the same mod support that is found on Xbox and PC"
Xbox does not have the same mod support that is found on PC. Script Extenders are not possible on Xbox. When it comes to Skyrim, some of the most popular mods will not be available for console:
Complete Alchemy and Cooking Overhaul
Fores New Idles in Skyrim...
Remasters have been around since the earliest gens, they just weren't labeled such. Think about how many people kept buying newer, more colorful versions of older Atari games on their expensive new pieces of hardware. One of my favorite remasters of all time is the Dragon Quest III port to the Super Nintendo. Same game, better graphics, and more importantly it was more readily available to new users who wanted it but never bought it. You know, the primary target of all remasters?

@kryptix
I just want to point out that Akira, a movie from the eighties, predicted the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
It would seem so at first glance, and true enough, that is what all remasters are (for the devs anyway). But Skyrim had some glaring issues far beyond graphics and gameplay looking dated.
On console, you had unfixable bugs, and terribly low quality textures, shadows, anti-aliasing, absent reflections, and a dubious framerate. Now those will be better somewhat, and with a slightly enhanced lighting system and limited mod support.
On PC, there was a much ...
