I think the service has potential.
I'm sure in 2010 there was a list that put the big 5 disappointments of 2011 on their "banking on" list.
I wish the hype machine and those responsible for it would just f**k off.
Open up digital content to other online retailers. Imagine how prices might change if Amazon were to come onto the scene like they do with physical media.
Sony could have played this card with the PSP Go but instead they shafted everyone who purchased the Go (me included). PSN prices for games you can buy retail are just plain rediculous.
Hell, I can import games from the other side of the world on physical media and still pay $40 less than buying it off PSN, plus I also get to later on sell the game.
OMG. DICE, really?. BF3 on PS3 looks simply average and your saying you can do better? believe it when I see it.
they have to do something with it otherwise Sony run the risk of people bringing their PS3 controllers with them. Can't make money if people use what they already have.
That's such a valid point, "you get what you pay for". It explains the huge difference in evolution between the 360 and PS3 over the years in terms of their GUI and functionality.
Apart from the cartoon avatars the 360 GUI is fantastic. Its slick, fast, responsive and intuitive. Best of all its evolution has kept it looking fresh.
In comparison the PS3 XMB, whilst functional and intuitive, is positively stale and is screaming out for a major overhaul. Furthermore, access it during a game and not only does it look different but it does not even run as fast as Windows 3.1 on an 80286. In all fairness the 360 GUI used to be quite sluggish in-game but ...
- HD gaming starts with the PS3
- Force feedback is last gen
Sony is not innocent of spreading bull$hit to try justify their position. I just wonder when they will start selling "supported content only" messages when using these memory cards. Meaning that if its not a certified mp3 or video file it wont play.
Sorry, its not the same. Might be the same gameplay but the visuals are simply average on PS3 compared to PC. Texture pop in, screen tearing and f**king jaggies everywhere on PS3. Disagree all you like but the PS3 is not the best version of the game.
I wish my PC could run this game at full settings. Playing it on my PS3 is just not the same.
Valve would be losing out on too much revenue if they did this. Besides, the PS3 could not do the game justice visually.
If its an exclusive it would be a timed exclusive at best. Half Life is a PC franchise first and foremost and only the PC could do the franchise justice. Sure you can play it on consoles but even HL2 on a decent PC looks better than most console FPS games.
Both Sony and MS play the multiple SKU card and then say its all about giving consumers a choice. To me there is nothing wrong with having choice as long as you dont get royally screwed on the cost of upgrading.
@Nathan
don't understand your comment. I was "just saying" that there seems to be double standards. My comments were not a personnal attack.
@Nathan
when I watch the KZ3 remote play footage I see a Vita that's still plugged in. I saw no evidence that is was going over wifi let alone wifi via an internet connection. Personally I don't see the point of remote play if your connecting directly to the PS3 over wifi.
Anyway, you're so convinced it works so well why dont you tell us how it all hangs together and what the minimum network/connection requirements are?
what was the setup behind that demo of remote play? I'll bet it was not over 3g.
So true but remember, Sony wants/needs the Vita to sell. The lack of built in storage and high price for memory cards makes the Vita even less attractive to the masses.
To many gamers the Vita is a no brainer but will it translate to sales. I'm not so sure.
Unless Sony has somehow resolved latency issues then remote play will be as sluggish on the Vita as it was on the PSP. I remember Sony pushing remote play for the PSP early on and look how that worked out.
Unless they plan on downloading the game to the Vita from the PS3 (kind of like gameshare between 2 PSPs) then I simply don't see how it will work or at least live up to the hype.
Good deal but two games best played with the dualshock controller....where the hell are the AAA Move only titles!?!
