Improvement over the XMB but not much new for those who have used a tablet or smartphone over the past couple of years.
@cynicical:
and there inlies the million dollar question. What sales target does Sony have for the Vita to prevent the Vita going the same way as the Go. Is Sony hoping to shift 5, 10 or 20 million in the first year to continue investing into the Vita. Also, if the Vita gets hacked early on will developers run for the hills like they did with the PSP?
After owning 5 PSPs and a Go I'm going to play a game of wait and see.
Specs wont convince the masses to buy a Vita. The only ones drooling over a dedicated handheld are gamers. The majority want a smartphone or other device that compliments their lifestyle.
Vodafone definitely preferred over Telecom for me at least (in NZ). Data packs are still expensive mind. $20 for 1GB (2degrees).
My wife and children each have an account. The reason I switched from multiplayer gaming on the 360 was that I was not prepared to subscribe to LIVE for each account so they could have their own stats. Sony's multiplayer pass means I have to pay for them to play online or they all share my account.
ummm, not now that you need to buy an online pass to play. Buy a new game and you need to buy the online pass for all other accounts in your home...I have 5 accounts in addition to the primary account. An online pass in NZ is $20.
So no, you can no longer say muliplayer gaming is completely free on PS3.
Sony - how about bringing back the 5 activated systems. Cutting it down to 2 PS3s and 2 PSPs has killed gaming in my household. Free anything does not make up for what you have taken away.
I really don't give a damn how good review scores are. I like to make up my own mind thanks. Its $20 for an online pass in NZ and I want to try before I buy.
Its rubbish how you can't even trial multiplayer before opting to buy a pass. A friend of mine has lent me his copy of the game and no way I'm buying before trying so counts me out of getting any DLC as well.
To be honest the single player campaign has been pretty throw away so far and does not inspire me to get into the multiplayer at all. The damn game is so linear it feels like every level is on rails.
Oh well, this on top of limiting it to 2 systems means I will not buy anything else off PSN. Over the years I have spent over $1,000 on PSN purchases because I thought it was great value for money. I even purchased a 3rd PS3 2 months ago because of the ability to gameshare with my kids (all 3 consoles are in the same house)
Sorry Sony, I was loyal to you and supported your brand and this is how you repay me.
My kids and I loved the demo. The silky smooth visuals and art style are simply beautiful. Its definitely going under the xmas tree this year.
Who cares, that's what storage is for. You run out get a bigger HDD or delete older data.
I actually wish they would patch MGS4 to take advantage of bigger HDDs. Stupid how it installs data for the next level after you complete a level.
Each PS3 has the same master account for the download. My kids then log into their separate accounts on their PS3 to play so their own progress is tracked. That way I can play against or with my kids or I can play something else whilst they are playing one of the shared games.
I'm in the same boat as you. If this is how it had always been I would not have ever purchased 3 PS3s. There certainly wont be a 4th and I'll be buying less of PSN in the future.
What absolute nonsense.
Its currently a total of 5 activated systems. A mini title would therefore only be usable on up to 5 separate devices and not 10 like you suggest.
I have 3 PS3s in my house so I can play PSN games on line with my kids (split screen pretty much sux for most games). This puts an end to that. It also puts an end to being able to buy a single copy for everyone in my house to use. PSN prices are already a rip off without having to buy the same download multiple times.
Sorry Sony, but this move will see me spending less on PS store and will likely put me off buying further handhelds for my kids.
Unless they start publishing on-line stats with re: how many games are being played, how many active players there still are by region then the on-line pass is a potential rip off.
I appreciate why they have introduced the on-line pass however, spending almost $20 NZ on an on-line pass for a game only a handful may be playing is just plain wrong. As a consumer, I want as much information as I can get my hands on before I commit to a purchase. Maybe they should allow you to ...
Wipeout was an outstanding franchise on PSP as well. I don't however remember the draw distance being disguised like thag though.
