@hicken: the point is that a lack of physical controls does not mean less demanding games. Everyone stereotypes touch devices with Angry Birds which is just plain ridiculous.
Funny. How many iPhones were sold in the first 2 days?
I had the same trouble when I first got my tablet however, once you get use to the controls you'll find there are many great Android and iOS games available.
The notion that touch screen only devices only do "casual games" is like saying the Earth is flat.
There are some great games on Android and iOS devices. I swear, I've never heard so many people moan beyond their years because something doesn't have the same controls.
Touch screen gaming is here to stay and Sony knows it which is, wait for it, why the Vita has a touch screen.
My only concern is the over exploitation of vehicles already. Too many just jumping in a vehicle and running other players down as they spawn in.
It wasn't terrible on the PSP...it was pointless. Honestly, if they get it to work great but its still just a gimmick.
Sony need to get their act together when it comes to the PSN Store. Its one of the reasons the Go failed. Limited selection that was priced more than retail in many cases.
Hope things are different for the Vita and the PSN store doesn't just become an outlet for minis and PS1 games.
An article has doubts over the long term success of the Vita after day 1 sales yet fans can't see how it could possibly fail after day 1 sales.
This is a game of wait and see as the outcome can't be determined after just the first day.
We all know how this works, even if they sold below expected numbers it will still be presented as "steady", "solid" or an overwhelming success. To be honest I want to see how well they're selling 6 months from now as unless there is good momentum the Vita will be destined for sub standard shovelware.
Wonder how many of the 700k were exported out of Japan to those who could not wait.
Since the hack I actually found my time spent gaming has dropped significantly and thanks to Sony's update to their activation policy I am spending a lot less on PSN for the kids as well.
I have no doubt it would fit into the inner pocket of a suit jacket but not if your using wired headphones. Also doubt it would easily slide in/out because of the protruding controls.
I gurantee you that Sony wont show the device being slipped into a pocket in its marketing campains.
Over the past 18 months therd have been more "casual" titles released for PSP than other games. Or do you class most of the Minis (I.e. digital junk) as "hardcore"? Keep in mind that many of the minis are avail in one form or another for tablets and smartphones.
The Vita is a game of wait and see but its success is dependent on having a wider appeal than to just the "hardcore" gaming audience. My prediction is that Sony will target the more "casual" audience within 12 months of the Vita's release.
Will it slip into your pocket when using wired phones?
I have to say that I was not big on Warhawk but I'm actually really enjoying Starhawk. I can see it being damned addictive.
Its over $500 for the 3g version in NZ. Add in a game, memory card and data plan and your in the same relm as a high end smartphone. The 3g Vita on its own is more expensive than a 320GB PS3 bundle in NZ.
I'm sure it will sell but will take a while before there is enough of an install base to make big budget game development for it economically viable.
Prove it.
Multiple game saves is different from stats. Also, now its ok to compare a Vita to an Apple device because they share a common way of doing something?
Who cares what you think you fucking douche bag.
