...I wish the missions could have been improved as much as the graphics over previous GTA releases. Sure the cut scenes are better in terms of character/story development but the missions are pretty much the same as they haev always been. Drive to point A for a cutscene, shoot out. No real options that might result in a different outcome.
...for the slight clipping problem in the 4th image. Not sure who the character is but his foot is passing right through the step.
Other than that - when this comes out I'll be saying GTA what???
...to see what GTAV might look like. We may have to wait until the next gen of hardware hits the streets. However, they need to start introducing more missions that don't simply feel like a rehash of those used in GTA of past.
...what are his policies for inspiring the nation that education is where a kids future begins and not entertainment.
I am all for politicians making such statements but how many actually back them up real policies that make a real difference. By the way I'm not from the US I'm from New Zealand and we are in election year ourselves so all we're getting is the same ole political spin. Tell me, how many of you have ever seen an election where its not the same ole problems/issue...
...sure its not a simulator like Forza or Gran Turismo but I really enjoyed DIRT and GRID is based on an enhanced version of the engine used for DIRT. All the videos I have seen for this game look great and if the final game maintains a solid framerate and the physics are better than DIRT's then I'm getting this.
Lets face it, GT5 is still a year away and there is a real lack of quality arcade racers on the PS3 at the moment.
...that Nintendo went for innovation over muscle. Now that Nintendo is sitting on one hell of a cash cow makes you wonder if the next generation Wii will be both innovative and make the current crop of consoles look slow and old.
...need to focus on the PSP and DS platforms. They don't have the deep pockets anymore to deliver quality games for the PS3, 360 or PC. They should look at modernizing some of their back catalog for the PSP especially.
However, when I say modernize I mean put some effort into it. Not like some of the crap they have released over the past 5 years.
Crusing the streets is easy but in the middle of a lot of action cars bounce around a bit much. Its just a little too arcady for my liking.
I am real cold on GTAIV multiplayer and I don't see it toppling COD4 on-line for long if at all.
...so why did Rockstar package the multiplayer in such an inept lobby system. The situation you described only works when no one is lagging and yet the lobby system does not allow you to prevent it.
I only want to join games where I have a good connection to the host and when I'm hosting I only want those with a good connection to me to join. So far I have seen much lag...disappointing in a next gen game.
...for the Top 5 GTA Top 5 Lists!
Seriously, this game is a hell of a lot of fun...except for multiplayer. I'm just not sure about multiplayer yet. They should have aimed for a Warhawk style of on-line play with dedicated maps.
...is the only reason to buy the add-on. All the other solo modes are pretty weak and don't have much replay value.
Endless soon becomes a screen full of destruction and nothing gives more pleasure than shooting your way to a tower and then using boost to destroy it which causes a chain reaction that destroys everything on the planet surface.
Only minor gripe re: endless is that the frame rate struggles ever so slightly on occassion. Doesn't effect gameplay but...
...to the screen as this game is certainly jaggy central and could have done with lots more AA.
I'm playing the PS3 version and so far am finding the game just ok in terms of graphics. Framerate is ok, textures are ok but the jaggies are noticable all the time.
Biggest disappointment for me so far is that the lobby system for on-line play is just as inept as the one for COD4. I have no real search options in terms of looking for locally hosted games, etc.
...thats why I said if anyone had played it. Don't forget that in New Zealand its already been out officially for 16 hours.
...the gaming sites would propoerly review the on-line lobby system for the game. Sure it sounds easy to get on-line and play but is it another dogs breakfast of a lobby system like in COD4. That is, in a country like New Zealand (and Australia) we don't want to be constantly thrown into games which are being hosted in the US, Europe or Asia because of lag issues.
...has anyone played GTAIV on-line yet? what's the lobby like??? Do you get options to search for games with good connections or is the lobby smart enough to do that for you?
Reason I ask is that COD4 features a sub-standard lobby system which for a game which is all about on-line play is disappointing.
...waiting 5 years to do the sequel a quick cash-in?
Personally much of Ghostbusters 2 was just as funny (if not funnier) than the original Ghostbusters. What let the sequel down was the terrible ending.
Oh yes, what I also hated about the sequel was why they ditched Ray Parker Jrs Ghostbusters for Bobby Brown's abomination of a soundtrack.
...that GTAIV has a proper next-gen lobby system to go with their on-line play. Biggest problem with COD4 is the lobby system is dire and lets the game down considerably (in this part of the world).
I must admit I was not really looking forward to GTAIV but over the past couple of weeks I simply cannot wait to get my hands on it. Its looking like a real fantastic experience.
To all my buddies on COD4...I think this could be goodbye...
...that EA pulled out its support for the Dreamcast even though Sega sold the 1,000,000 units EA said it had to in order to gain their support?
Like it or not EA helped sink the Dreamcast...now all EA do is steal the moral and money of gamers with their sub-standard releases.
COD4 features a dogs turd of a lobby system. Its like using bicycle types in Formula 1.
...was released gamers were saying bye, bye Nintendo. Now look at them. they lead this gen with mainly last-gen technology. Good on them for keeping it real and fun.
However, Sony and MS now need to work out a way of turning the new found casual gamers into hardcore casual gamers so that they find their respective platforms more appealing. Sony has a headstart on this with Eye-Toy, Buzz and Singstar. Just a pitty they don't treat any of those franchises with a bit more res...
