Mind you, solid state memory prices are falling you you may be downloading to muli-terrabyte flash drives or something...who knows.

A 50mb connection will download 20Gb in about an hour. Won't be long and you'll be able to access a media site using your cellphone to download the latest blockbuster release to...

...Martyrdom and sniping are my two pet peeves.

To use martydom you should have to hit a random button combination that appears on the screen (e.g. Square, Square, Triangle) in order to drop the granade. That is if you were not taken out by a head shot or something. Just having the granade drop by default takes all the skill out of the game. How many times have you managed to sneak up on a player, knife him and then can't retreat fast enough to avoid a martydom blast.

...before the latest patch I was quitting 30 games a night until I either ended up hosting or found one with a 2 yellow or 3 green bar connection. After the patch I'm quitting around 10 games per night.

What I find utterly annoying is how the lobby groups several players together and then the games starts only to be ended automatically because no one has a good connection to the host. Why in hell group those players together in the first instance?

...I have experienced a lot less lag and have ended up hosting even more. However, IW need to release a fix for the lobby system to ensure you never connect to a game where you'd be playing with 1 red bar. I also hate quitting a game (becuase of 1 red bar) only to end right back in it when I look for another game.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, COD4 is the best on-line experience wrapped in a dogs turd of a lobby system.

...why Home is going to be such a big deal?

Sorry, but it does not look like a game but only a mechanism for navigating to games or information about games, gamers or other digtal content.

If it were more like Sims where you could construct your own home and had to keep your virtual character (or family) happy then I could see the point. I know many people arie looking forward to home, I'm just one of those struggling to see its real worth from a "gamers&qu...

...when you consider that Gears of War is still the benchmark for graphics on the 360 its kind of fair to compare. I think the only title that will truly trump GOW graphics on the 360 will be GOW2.

I'm not saying that there are not other fantastic looking games on the 360 its just that GOW still stands tall in the visuals department.

Never managed to be able to host when I played the 360 version. The lobby system on both versions is just plain sub-standard.

Those graphics look plain awful. This game is like taking the sexist girl at the prom, removing her make-up, not letting her wash for a month, letting her leg hair go rampant and then dressing her in a sack. That is, the PS3 is suppose to be a veritable powerhouse and yet this is what's being served up!?!

...correct then I for one am disappointed to hear about the low texture detail and framerate drops. Escpeiclaly since you can see the same texture being used many times in the same scene.

As I said below, these images do not reflect the 50GB monster thats being hyped at the moment.

Some look ok but many just don't look finished in terms of texture detail, lighting and shadows. All I have heard for the last 12 months is how MGS4 is going to set new benchmarks and I have to say I don't see that in these screenshots.

Take a look at the shot with that little robot (?) in the foreground. That image is a real mixed bag. For instance, the ground is all dusty yet the robot leaves no tracks. It also looks clean as though it was just dropped in. Take a look at...

The other 3 maps look sublime and I can't wait to play them. However, I hope there are no issues hosting the new maps like there are for "Bog" and "Container" (is that the one on the ship???)

I don't know why but every time I host playing those maps my frames per second drops to about 3.

I thought downloading was supposed to be a cheaper way of distributing product?!?

...10 years ago this was not even an option. Now we're doing surveys to see how many will buy it on which format. In another 10 years I wonder how similar surveys will pan out.

Remember, each new generation of consumers opts for the most convenient option. The trend towards downloading started years ago and it will only continue to gain support.

was frigging huge when it came out on the Amiga 500. I would also like to see SWIV and Hybris on this list as well!

There are simply not enough next-gen HD versions of these classic shooter available. Super Startdust HD is a brilliant example of how some of these classics should be revamped for a modern gaming audience.

Biggest thing wrong with Live is that if you have 3 people using the same console (i.e. my two sons and myself) you need to pay for 3 separate Gold XBL accounts to play on-line, even though we are all using the same console.

I ditched my XBL account for this very reason and now play all my on-line gaming on PSN. Nothing like getting a similar on-line experience but for free.

Disagree. The browser on the PS3 may not be all that hot but its fantastic being able to surf the web from your console. Especially navigating to sites and downloading content directly to the PS3.

I am still suprised that Xbox does not have a browser given that its developed my Microsoft.

Is the browser needed...no, would you want them to take it away if it already had it...no.

Halo 3 Lobby System + COD4 on-line gameplay.

the COD4 lobby system is a real let down and should have been something that was surfaced in the many reviews. You should never join a game where your connection is 1 red bar and you should never be returned to a game you quit. 2 extremely simple things that were addressed last gen but can be the cause of so much frustration.

...DON'T!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is one of those rare downloads that can only be used by the PSN user that downloaded it. Additional PSN accounts on your PS3 cannot run the game unless they also purchase it. Who wants to share an on-line game using the same PSN name? One user gets great stats just to have another user undo all that good effort!?!

Buy the Blu-ray version so multple PSN accounts on your PS3 can play it. At least then you can on-sell it if you don...

...a 50GB game is going to look and play like. I just hope its not 50 GB of 1080p cut scenes. I am really hoping that the gameplay equates to 15-20hrs at least once you remove all the cutscenes and dialog exchanges.

...is just how Blu-Ray and potential HDD caching will benefit the game on the PS3.

I remember all the nonsense doing the rounds 12 months ago about how GTIV will be best on the PS3 because of Blu-Ray. If this game scores less on the PS3 because of graphics then to me that is a huge win for the 360. I just hope that the PS3 does not suffer from frame rate drops...

Maybe GTIV has been scaled back to accommodate the storage limitations of DVD9? Who knows but I'm ...
