The biggest difference between both consoles is that the ps2 got a major sales boom because it was the cheapest DVD player around and it had just about every major 3rd party Japanese game as exclusives. The PS4 is selling good now but it won't likely see such a dramatic sales increase like the ps2 did late in its lifetime.
As much as the gaming industry as a whole loves to kick Nintendo when they are down, you always need a company that marches to the beat of their own drum. Originality is lacking in the marketplace and everyone is happy with making similar games to the next company.
Nintendo is willing to take a risk and show you why changing game play reduces stagnation. Does it always work? No of course not but it's also like the saying you have to Crack a few eggs to make an omelet. Things...
Here's the only problem that I noticed possibly from seeing this game for a second time. Is that it seems like boss battle events are scripted or limited to how you approach defeating the dinobots! (Hopefully this isn't the case.) But it would have been an amazing time to show that there's not only one way to defeat such a big monster.
I gotta say, it's a bit weird also seeing her get smacked around by this huge robot and not dying. I can understand if she is par...
I couldn't agree more with everything that you said. I like gaming overall and will play on or purchase any device that pulls me into what makes their software unique and fresh. When you are an adult and have a full life, you tend to want things that are going to leave a lasting impression on you because we don't have that much time to spare.
I definitely agree with you on his status and reputation for what he has done with Pokémon. That's probably one of th...
Who cares if he's just temporary, how come no one is talking about the new patent that recently came out from Nintendo on the scrollable/clickable shoulder buttons? I feel this is the problem with N4G, because had this been a Sony patent everyone be screaming game changer and innovation at its highest!
People want to discuss gaming and where it needs to go in the future, let's not pretend that what we currently game on is the pinnacle of what it could be. People are ...
You clearly don't understand that the patent is not for the actual design of the controller and the final product isn't represented by such in the illustration. The whole summation of the patent is for scrollable, clickable shoulder(wheels) or buttons with some kind of force feedback or inertia motorized mechanism. You may not want to admit it, but this is why Nintendo should stay in the hardware game, this is something that should have been in current controllers and it will only be ...
I Gotta say that was pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty good! Lol
So people over at NeoGaf posted some translations
1) The Nikkei quotes new Nintendo boss Kimishima as saying there won’t be changes in the basic strategy set up by former president Iwata.
2) Kimishima says the challenge is now to identify new projects+cultivate the right human resources to reach Nintendo-like profits again.
3) The Nikkei also quotes Nintendo’s Genyo Takeda as saying the aim is to establish a future-proof group leadership syst...
Not only what you say is true, but many seem to forget that Bayonetta 2 could be purchased even at launch for $40 without Bayonetta 1. So after a year on the market that's not as steep as going from $60 like many are chiming in...
The mainstream N4G fanboys believe that if one specific console and company isn't dominating the entire market, then something is wrong with the world...
Although it would be nice to see a younger face in the seat for many years to come. It's pretty discriminating of you to think that he knows nothing of technology just because he's older. Steve Jobs was getting up in age, but he still had more than enough vision for Apple!
This is actually pretty good news and maybe an indication of Nintendo's future direction. Yes he is older, but the man use to be president of NOA and he currently resides in Redmond Washington. So where other head Nintendo figures might have been out of touch with Western gaming trends, kimishima lives with Western culture everyday...
I think your view on this game series should be your view on every game series that was once a multi console game, but I'm sure it's not! People who feel this way about Bayonetta aren't constantly berating every SFV article with how come it's not on every system imaginable. Publishers see value in having exclusive games, so that's why they make the investment.
Everyone talks sales numbers and especially how Bayonetta 2 flopped at launch because it was onl...
This game isn't even in the league of those games you named... Your list of games already have a follow either from previous games in the series or games made by the same developer.
I know people for some reason or another feel that Nintendo is the only company that is in a box and somehow they will never sell more than 10-15 million consoles again. But if the NX is able to bring back the main 3rd party developers and have equal access to similar quality titles that are on the 3ds, the NX is going to fly off shelves. If the next handheld and home console can both share and play the next Bravely Default, Fire Emblem, Luigi's Mansion, Dragon Quest, Monster Hunter, Pok&...
When the developer themselves says you might as well ask Nintendo to port Mario and Zelda over as well, that should be simple enough math to you guys. It's no different than if Sony fully steps up and publishes Shenmue 3, we aren't going to see that on any other platforms because it wouldn't have existed otherwise.
Sega is never going to fund another Bayonetta themselves and Nintendo seems to be one of the few primary publishers trying to keep Japanese game development relevant in Japan. If you guys are having meltdowns over Bayonetta 2 still, wait until Nintendo announces Bayonetta 3 for the NX or them purchasing Platinum Games(which is inevitable at this point). Nintendo has never worked this closely with a developer with so much frequency and not taken a serious interest in owning the company. My gue...
Not only that maybe Nintendo just wants to see how it's received before Platinum makes a big budget StarFox for the NX.
I would rather have a very fun game with great game play over button prompt visual movies! Everyone knows that the WiiU isn't high end tech, but people comparing it to ps2 have never played a ps2 game in their lives... The 3ds is more powerful than the ps2, are we realistically saying that StarFox looks like a 3ds game now.
The ps2 was a major casual console late in its life though... it doesn't negate everything else that the console brought to the market just because they want sales from the casual players.
