What are you asking if it will play Blu-ray movies or use Blu-ray technology? Because the WiiU is already based on Blu-ray technology for its optical disc, it just doesn't play movies.
Also I really hope that Nintendo partners with Netflix for shows done on their IP's. Jessica Jones is getting rave previews right now, so a live action Zelda(GoT) style could be epic for both Nintendo and Netflix.
Actually if you knew the history of why the GC used the proprietary mini DVD, you would understand that developers were asking Nintendo to create a system that had more encrypted technology, because the ps2 was one of the most pirated gaming systems in history. But people don't like to do their research and just go with what's commonly being passed around.
Definitely by making more games like Hyrule Warriors, Pikmin, Fire Emblem Awakening and Xenoblade Chronicles is a start. But creating great new IP's like Splatoon will also pay off in the future. Nintendo enjoyed the success of the Wii and DS and they endured the underperformed systems of the WiiU and 3ds. So if Kimishima feels that Nintendo can perform above the profits that they had during the Wii/DS generation over the next 3yrs. Nintendo has something very strong and well thought out for the NX and the leveraging of their IP's. Gamers today are just to narrow minded to see where the next big thing will come from.

See this is where I disagree with people on the not knowing good/bad hardware... Case in point, the WiiU is not a bad system, just not what Nintendo needed for this point in time. That doesn't negate that it has some amazing games, but for the most part the WiiU is a basic gaming console.

If everyone else in the gaming industry(besides Nintendo of course) is so for the core gamer and all, rewards programs have been around for awhile now and the other two have had paid subscription services for sometime.
I'm pretty sure that most of PS4's sales are to the core gaming audience. $399 is not a price point for a gaming device aimed at casual players (anyone willing to spend $300+ for a gaming device shouldn't be considered a casual gamer).
Halo being an established franchise is probably bad to compare to as well, because fans of the series know what to expect. Just like no one in their right mind would complain about Uncharted gameplay because we know what to expect. I think Quantic Dreams was really guilty of this with Beyond Two Souls. The reveal made you think the game was a certain style at first, but by the time reviews came out and more of the game was showed off it was trying to be every game wrapped into one. Not saying it was a bad game, because it wasn't! But if people are excited for KH3 because of elements they've seen and then come to find out its an on rails shooter.(just an example)

They announced in February of this year that they were working with a top notch publisher on their biggest project yet that is definitely coming out this year. The developer even stated that the game was more of a reworking of the game, similar to what they did with Deus Ex HR...
Kingdom Hearts 3 is the only interesting game to me coming from Square... So hopefully we see the game sooner than later!
