@hiredhelp

I would have to agree to disagree. I bought the game on launch day and beat the game in five and half hours. Granted, I wasn't rushing nor did I mean to beat it that fast. Afterwards you have the challenge modes and that is about it. Not much to it really. Sure I could go back and play it on hard to artifically extend the experience, but I don't see the point. Lastly, they decided to cut out all the unlockable content that you would have normally got with p...

I think I remember God of War 3 and Killzone 3 being "maxed out." Both are great games, but for being "maxed out" they lacked a major amount of content. They turned out to be grossly underwhelming, at least for me. There was very little depth as they took a 'more is less' sort of approach to the user experience.

Agreed. I'm not trying to knock graphics, just the over emphasis on visual quality. True It might be the devs fault, but if they can't manage both, what do you think they would fall back on? The visuals of course, and that's what I mean by crutch. You'll see that the game looks great and you might be suckered into purchasing or playing it. Publishers use it as a tool many times.

The main point of the article though was the inclination of next gen. If you appl...

"Graphics are one of the things being advanced the LEAST. Nowadays, devs focus so much effort into storylines (most of which end up being crappy) and online features. Physics and graphics are one of the main ways that videogames progress."

-True. At this very point in time, on this day, yes graphics are being advanced the least. They have been developed enough that they aren't being pushed so heavily on every single occasion. Yet, there are expectations that peo...

Actually, I was the writer of the article and no I have not gone nuts haha. Graphics haven't been advancing drastically year to year, but the focus is still overwhelming. "Our game has the best graphics on console." "We pushed the limit of what is possible." So on and so fourth. I see those statements repeated over and over seen this generation has started. Yet, the same games that carry such bold claims are almost always lacking in content, design, longevity or a mix ...

You've never played 3? Man, that one is the best out of the whole series. You'll definitely enjoy it.

Yah, the game can probably be "beat" in 40-60 hours or so. If you rush through the main plot line you should have no problem getting under the 70 hour mark. Im 35 hours in and have yet to leave the first zone. I think there are a total of 5 zones in all? I could be off by one number.

Either way, there is quite a bit to do. If the rest of the zones are anything like the first one it will take a good 150+ hours to complete the game for me. Grantd, I'm doing every ...

Actually, you will only be able to buy the bottle. The soda, as well as the carbonation and sugar, are part of the elite soda drinkers package. If you want everything you'll have to be a Coca Cola member, which should only cost 60 a year. Its a fair price for such a great product.

Wait, we shouldn't be able to take advantage of this deal! Used games are killing the industry! /s

Yep, pretty much. COD is obviously their bread and butter. Although, I have a feeling we'll be seeing a lot more Skylanders or a few sequels of sorts.

5223d ago 2 agree0 disagreeView comment

Actually Skylanders is pretty innovative in its own right. The portal is usable across all platforms. So, if you bought it for the Wii you could hook it up to the ps3/pc and get the same results. As long as you have the game of course.

Whether you like the game or not, its still pretty awesome that the characters can be moved from system to system seamlessly with no issues. Just plug it in, throw on the character and you are good to go.

Its sort of like cross...

The score is great and the Vita looks awesome. People will complain no matter what, even if it scored an 11 out of 10.

The play n trade stores here in Houston have always had open tournaments. They would advertise COD and Smash Bros tournaments non stop. Personally, I always hated the stores. The ones I visited where unprofessional and unorganized. It was always complete chaos. The only one close to me ended up shutting down and I can see why.

Regardless, it was still pretty cool. Not many places hold fun gaming competitions on a regular basis. They would always turn out a decent crowd and pa...

Thanks for the read! It looks like patch 1.4 fixed my problems with the game. It still has a few frame rate issues here and there, but the game is so much better now. A lot of the quests have also been fixed. It still needs more patching, but at least its playable now without running into a constant barrage of problems. I would say its safe to play on ps3. Pick it up if you can find it cheap.

KOA is really fun, but like you said its kind of opposite. I hate comparing it to Skyrim because they are only generally the same, but vastly different. KOA is more like a combat heavy Fable, mixed with a single player version of WOW or some other MMO, mixed with dungeon crawling like Diablo. It's more action based than what we've come to expect, but in a very good way.

Combat is strangely familiar to that of fable, but with more depth and complexity. Yet, at the sam...

Its crazy to think how much money was donated in such little time. Sort of shows what gamers want and what publishers think we want.

Yu Suzuki needs his own kickstarter program, that way I can donate money for Shenmue 3.

Definitely. At some point in time there will be a revised version. I think we all know that. Its not like Sony would come out with the vita and thats it. There are always revised consoles and revised handhelds to keep people interested.

Demo wasn't all that great.

With that being said, KOA has an insane amount of depth and things to do. Im 15 hours in and have yet to do 1 quest that advances the story. Mostly I've just been exploring, side questing and leveling. The demo does not represent the full game even slightly.

If you are into RPGs you will most definitely like it. I've put about 15 hours into the game so far and its great. The world is vast, there are a ton of places to explore, deep leveling system, ridiculous amounts of loot, you can enchant/make potions from ingredients...I can keep going, but I wont. Not to mention the combat is fun cause you can pull off a variety of combos depending on how you tailor your character.

Most importantly though the game seems to run fine (im p...

@rdgneoz3

I agree, but if publishers wanted to combat used sales they would have already implemented a 1 time code similar to that of PC. Sure, online passes slightly curb used sales, but its not a deterrent at all. Online passes make money under the guise of "combating used sales." The used industry has always been around and the video game industry as a whole has been expanding exponentially. If there is a way for a publisher to make extra money, they will. They w...
