“The real question is why would an American consultant firm even try to get a Chinese company to agree to any kind of deal”

It’s called marketing and businesses do it to generate business.

So many incels will love this but it’s a nothing burger of a story.

I wonder how long Nintendo can stay relevant as cell phones become better game machines and receive better games. In other words, at some point Nintendo will be losing money by not releasing their games on phones. We may be there already.

“Remember when game journalism wasn't about playing kiss a** to ensure that you would still have a working relationship with a vendor.”

No, I don’t hunk such a time existed. And when non-gaming a site like Paste Magazine or general news publication like The Chicago Tribune negatively reviews a game, the fans go out of their God dammed minds. So it’s not just about cozying up to publishers and their advertising dollars, also about pandering to fan bases.

It means Xbox exclusives are disappearing.i don’t think it’ll be too long before we see Game Pass exclusives. Renting games has more profit potential than selling games.

“I can appreciate that ad”

What a bizarre reaction. One of the many reasons that 30M Xbox 360 owners switched to PS4 was the addition of ads to the Home Screen. Ads on Xbox were unpopular then, they are unpopular now, and they will always be unpopular.

“Anyhow ive never trusted IGN, corrupt to the core.”

IGN gives so many games a 7/10 or 8/10 that their review scores have become irrelevant. To be believable, you first need integrity.

Almost important to point out that Microsoft is a software company and games are software,

Don’t know, don’t care because I don’t need to play games at launch.

These showcases are just a series of trailers. Great for enthusiasts but no normal person is going to take 45 minutes out of their day to watch game trailers. This won’t move the needle for Microsoft.

Rumors are clear that Halo will be on PS5. If Halo will be on PS5, so will Gears. My guess is that Microsoft will prioritize releasing on Game Pass first, not necessarily Xbox first.

I care. I can see game trailers on YouTube anytime. Give me the background politics and dealmaking.

Phil is all but saying Xbox is as important to Microsoft Game Studios as Surface laptops are to Microsoft Windows and Office. I would say it’s a crappy job to have but he probably makes more in a year that I’ll make in a lifetime.

If Sony doesn’t speak up like Xbox, will Sony stop selling 5 PS5s for every 1 Xbox? These interviews only matter to enthusiasts who are already locked into ecosystems. They don’t affect sales. Same is true for the showcases. Normal people don’t take time out of their day to watch 45 minutes of game trailers.

$204 for Game Pass Ultimate is a lot to ask. As a frugal gamer, I can get a lot for my money by waiting for games to go on sale. I know a lot of gamers want day one released, but I think anyone willing to spend that much on Game Pass already has it. I also think that if Game Pass starts eating into Microsoft’s 1st party game sales, then Microsoft will delay Game Pass releases or jack up the price. We’re still in new territory, so we’ll see.

Either Microsoft was going to force Call of Duty players to buy Xbox hardware or go multi-platform with software. For gamers, having Microsoft go multi-platform is the better option.
