Xbox fans knew what they were getting. If you got the $1 uograde price for 3 years or Game Pass Ultimate, you probably got your money’s worth.
“They want to get more and pay less...”
What kind of psycho wants to get less and pay more?
Destiny Tracker shows about 704K players yesterday, down from 1.6M during the height of The Final Shape launch window. It’s all downhill from here.
Gameboy lasted longer. And before you say Gameboy isn’t a home console, let me tell you that I did in fact play it at home, plugged in with an AC adaptor and a light attachment.
Switch is a handheld. People literally hold it in their hand when they play it. Maybe 30% of time is spent docked, but that doesn’t make it a competitor for PS5 and Xbox Seroes S/X. Switch’s main competitor is the cell phone.
For fun, I guess. 🤷🏻♂️
This tip comes from a paywalled story on The Verge https://www.theverge.com/20...
Not really amazing news. PS5 is outselling Xbox 5:1 or worse in Europe.
People who want to shoot guns and drive cars. People who want to play games with groups of their friends. 🤷🏻♂️
Microsoft is a $3T company. They can spend more on PR than Sony.
“I have no interest in constantly recurring subscription fees, I'll gladly buy my games”
Couldn’t agree more, but I do worry about the longevity of Xbox hardware. If I collect discs, what happens if the next gen Xbox has no disc drive? If Microsoft stops making Xbox hardware altogether, can I move my giant library of games to a 3rd party Game Pass box? Renting may be the safer option.
“PS5 Is Currently The Only Platform That Runs All The Top 20 Best Selling Games Of 2024”
This is dumb. PS5 was the best selling hardware in 2024 and PS5 exclusives are therefore going to have the larger audience to sell to. The surprise is that Switch exclusives didn’t sell better. With so many Switch consoles in the wild, why aren’t Zelda and Mario Wonder selling better? Are Switch consoles ending up in drawers, collecting dust? Are kids out touching grass in the post pand...
Only skewed for Xbox. Lots of folks buy cartridges for Switch. No Xbox Series S owner is buying discs. But on PS5, no one is buying discs for PS5 digital.
Right now, Game Pass has day one games released by Microsoft Studios (and some 3rd parties), but after September, you’ll need to pay $240/year for Game Pass Ultimate to play those games on day one. (And for $240/year, you could just buy games and own them.) Basically, Game Pass is becoming a more expensive and worse version of PS+ Extra.
Destiny Tracker shows 819.8K PvE Players yesterdays. That’s about half of the highs from The Final Shape. To a casual observer, that looks like a dramatic fall-off, but to anyone following live service games and Destiny in particular, these numbers show a gentle slope.
You mean piracy is the only true means of ownership, which is unfortunately true.
My advice to anyone who wants more content to play: buy more games.
Xbox Series X is between 25% and 50% of Series X/S sales, which means the Series X footprint about as big as the WiiU. Commitment from developers depends on marketshare.
They saw how Valve got everyone to log into Steam to play games. FYI, you used to be able to just load games.
“MS can't be trusted with anything.
They're extremely volatile with their words and action.”
When gamers learn that Microsoft is a giant corporation run but executives who have a fiduciary duty to make money for shareholders.
Pro tip, pay annually. It’s much less expensive. Money tip, things that cost less are usually the better deal. The frugal gamer is a patient gamer.
