Well it is no surprise the Xbox 360 is doing well in the UK now. The price is incredibly low you can buy the Arcade version for £129, in comparison the Wii is £199, the PS3 is £299 and the PS2 is £89.99.

I wonder when the 360 will get below the £100 figure, if that happens I really cannot see how the PS3 will compete with such a low priced console.

Edit - you have to laugh at the disagree, erm which bit were you disagreeing ? The actual re...

Hm isn't that odd, I mean MS closing down a premier PC RTS developer. A developer that creates fantastic games on the PC that sell incredibly well. Hmmm I wonder why MS would do something like that ?

It is becoming even more blatant now that MS wants to kill PC gaming, they do not want people gaming on the PC. In MS's ideal world they want you to game on their console and do your browsing on a PC with their operating system. That is the reason they killed Ensemble off. The mo...

So good news for those living in the middle of the desert that may want to overclock their PC's. This case comes across as MAJOR overkill for 99% of PC gamers, but I have no doubt someone might find it a useful alternative to water cooling. Dread to think how much this is going to cost to buy.

So it begins, lots of pointless fluff added to an operating system to make it look like it is worth it's price tag. Think I will start making notes of these new "features" so I can turn them off if I get the OC.

It's kinda funny when you read this :-

"We are engaged with our community and listen attentively to their needs and concerns. With their input our platform has continued to evolve, and we're proud of the marked improvement the Games for Windows program has brought to PC gaming in its first two years."

Then you read the comments and basically the PC community is saying "die GFWL is crap".

I would pretty much say you posting something and quoting it shows you are stating it as fact. It is strange you left out the "While we didn't see the PS3 version,", hm I wonder why you didn't quote that eh ? As it stands it only states the aliasing is better, there is more to a game than the aliasing for all you and I know the 360 may trump the PS3 in another area. But hey you don't want that going out with a name like "THC Cell".

Oh and I won't be bringin...

Because I am a PC gamer and this news is relevant to the PC. Thankfully I am not as insecure as you seem to be about your inanimate object. Everyone is going to get a great gaming experience regardless or what platform they play the game on. But then this kind of commonsense is lost on you I guess.

Yeah did you read the bit where they said "we didn't see the PS3 version" ? Hm so how can they make those claims if they didn't see the PS3 version. If you want to get ...

That is very bipartisan JsonHenry, I will give ya positive feedback for that alone. I too don't place much stock in exclusives. I believe people should play the games in the way THEY want to play it. So with that in mind it is great console gamers will get to experience what sounds like a fantastic game.

I didn't read all the scans, I personally hate reading scans off the net but I was curious about how it performed tech wise and saw this in the review :-

"Some will avoid the game out of worry that their PC won't run it at sufficient detail levels. Don't before the game is out, the developers will release a benchmarking tool that will let you see how the game will look and what framerate you'll get".

I must say that is an absolutely FANTASTIC idea and it's...

I'm a PC gamer why use 1 word when you can write an entire thesis on the subject.

Well actually no you didn't answer any of my questions with your reply. You stated MS has poured millions into PC gaming, I replyed "yeah so they have poured billions into their console". Now call me old fashioned but when you just allocate a few million to one area and pour billions into another it is safe bet to say "they aren't that bothered about the area they chucked a few million at".

Now to some points you raised :-

1) I was a bit bemused...

I think Fantasystar is right on the money about GFW. I think you are being a bit naive Elven6. Sure MS has pumped a few million into PC gaming compared to .... oh how about BILLIONS it has pumped into it's console. Just imagine how fantastic the PC marketplace could be if MS hadn't syphoned off all the cash out of the PC market to pour it into the console. When you look at it figure wise it doesn't look like MS is interested in PC gaming at all.

I don't think gaming is a stro...

Wonder how long it will take Georgie Lucas to get his lawyers onto this one. George Lucas and Lucasarts are widely known to whip out the old litigation at the slight hint of ANYONE trying to do anything creative with the starwars name.

Games for windows is NOT good for the PC, it is infact a trojan horse designed to get PC gamers "comfortable" with a console like experience. Microsoft want you gaming on their console and doing your word processing on their operating system. Everything MS does is geared towards that goal.

The GFW rubbish has that goal in mind, it is more about introducing PC gamers to a joypad rather than getting console gamers gaming on the PC. I mean come on why would MS want peop...

Hm bit of a mixed bag to be honest :-

Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway - words cannot express how sick I am of WW2 games. I think it is a testament to the computer gaming industry that they have turned something as horrific as WW2 into the dullest thing on the planet.. ENOUGH of the WW2 games.

Call of Duty: World at War - They obviously didn't hear me

Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 - Normally an automatic buy for me, always loved the red alert serie...

Something has to be done, it is becoming abundantly clear that PC gaming isn't "dying" there are millions of people gaming on their PC. However what is "dying" is people wanting to fork out $50 for a game they may or may not like. It's not too bad if you own a console, you buy a game you hate you can trade it in and get some of your money back. A PC gamer doesn't have that option they are stuck with a $50 coaster.

So mostly these days PC gamers pirate the...

I can't comment on it really since I can't even get the game yet. Steam seem to be acting like right idiots at the moment with the european release. However there is a 6 page thread on it already :-

hate to break it to you moses but buying from steam does not make you immune from the EA DRM. I believe Crysis Warhead on steam uses the exact same drm as the retail version and that includes limited activations. I only just found out myself and it is too late to cancel my order now. However this is a heads up for the future steam DOES include the same drm as the retail versions.

lol that was a good laugh. I don't doubt for a second PC games sales are down at game stop. I haven't been in a games shop for nearly 10 years. Nearly all PC gamers will use their brains and buy their games either from an online e-tailer (which is cheaper) or use an online distribution service. I know I for one avoid game shops like the plague I don't want to go into a shop that has dozens of screaming kids wanting mummy to buy "generic cutesy game number 30000".
