Yep totally agree with you. There are vastly superior and cheaper products too MS rip off stuff. If you are a PC gamer look elsewhere and leave this over priced rubbish on the shelf.
Even MS cannot kill off gaming, the PC is a completely open platform there is NO way technically or legally they could lock off the windows OS from gaming and even if they did that would leave the way open for Linux to come in and allow PC gaming.
At best MS may abandon PC gaming but that will just leave the way open for someone else to step in and fill the void and who knows they may be better and bring new ideas to the PC.
Whatever happens PC gaming will continue i...
To be honest I wouldn't trust a burp out of this guys mouth. It is becoming increasingly clear that MS wants you gaming on their console and using there OS for other stuff. This guy is just lying through his teeth.
I personally don't care if MS want to abandon the PC gaming market, I just wish they would get on with it and GO. Someone more capable will fill the gap they leave behind. So I don't put much stock in this interview where he claims MS isn't abandoning the PC as a g...
The PCGA is nothing but a complete and utter joke. You just need to look at the membership. Microsoft which introduced the Xbox platform and stole many franchises away from the PC and Epic a company that only ever seems to moan and complain about the PC. Meanwhile whilst both MS and Epic have continually undermined PC gaming what has the PCGA actually DONE to promote PC gaming ? I sure can't think of anything. Infact Valve and Blizzard are doing more to promote the PC and they aren't eve...
Just another little hint about MS's true intentions towards the PC. They want people to buy a console to game and a PC to do the other stuff and why wouldn't they it makes perfect business sense. So far it seems to be working too with people falling for it.
However I think MS might find killing the PC off as a gaming system will be a lot harder than they think it will be.
I would rather see them release a gaming operating system to compete with windows. If they could bring out an OS that supports PC games I would switch in a heart beat and so would many others. Then perhaps MS might stop treating the PC format with such contempt.
well it isn't all that unusual. If memory serves there were quite a few star wars games last generation that didn't get ported to the PC. It was mainly down to the fact the game wouldn't have done well on the PC. I believe it is the same here. From what I have seen it is basically a hack and slash game they don't tend to sell on the PC so it won't get ported.
I was expecting more from Lucasarts I was expecting force unleashed to be the spiritual successor to the Jedi knight s...
yeah I don't think too many PC owners are crying about this one not being ported to the PC. As it stands there were only two console games I was interested in, GTA 4 and Force Unleashed. The PC is getting GTA 4 and from the reviews Force Unleashed sounds like a bit of a a dog, so I won't lose any sleep. I will just make sure I never giver lucasarts any of my money in the future.
It isn't just about the install's. If you change your PC by putting another graphics card in or swapping out the cpu for a faster one (yes PC gamers do this) then your perfectly WORKING installed game will no longer work because you changed the hardware. You then have to uninstall the game and reinstall it again.
I really cannot believe people are defending this DRM, I mean it didn't even WORK there was a pirated version of Spore out days before it hit the street. So basic...
So you didn't actually bother to read the story then. You just wanted a chance to bash the PC !!! No one is saying developers should not take reasonable steps to protect their works. What people are saying is THREE lifetime installs is too draconian.
How would you like it if MS or Sony suddenly decided you could insert YOUR purchased game in the console three times and then that would be it you would have to buy a new copy ? I bet any money there would be an uproar about ...
So basically the pirated version is the superior version YET AGAIN and it doesn't cost a dime. I am beginning to think it isn't actually piracy that's the problem with PC games not selling it's people boycotting games because of DRM. I was set to buy Spore next week but after reading some of the stuff on Amazon I am leaving it on the shelf.
There is just no excuse in this day and age to limit the number of installs. The PC is an ever changing device people format and swap ha...
Another day and another misinformed piece of cra......... journalism. I think if the PC could speak it would say something like "The reports of my death are greatly exaggerated". When are people going to get it through their thick heads ? We had this rubbish when the PS1 came out, the PC didn't "die". Then the PS2 came along and again the PC is "dead" erm no it isn't. Now 2 years into the life span of the PS3 they are still prattling on about the PC being de...
So why did you bother replying here then ? Obviously if you have a console it will run the game at 1280 x 720 at medium settings. This is for people with PC's that want to know if they can run the game at settings like 1680 x 1050 with high settings.
Ok I am a bit confused here why is the comment section for this story full of "oh it needs blu-ray", "oh the 360 can handle this" ? This is a story about a MOD for the PC version of the game. It will never see light of day on EITHER of the consoles.
It is an interesting idea to amalgamate the three GTA games but really I think modders should be turning their attentions to the up and coming GTA 4. However I will of course check this mod out when it comes o...
Dear god do you need a lesson in business or something. I said most PC gamers, because quite clearly most PC gamers were not interested in the Gears or Halo franchise on the PC because they didn't buy it.
It is immaterial that the games were released later on the PC the fact is NO ONE bought the game. So if the majority of PC gamers didn't buy the game I think that is a pretty big clue that the majority of gamers are not interested in Gears on the PC.
Now for the r...
@doshey might I suggest you were ripped off then. I have a two year old PC that runs everything today maxxed out at 1680 x 1050 the only exception is Crysis. So if you have just bought a new PC and it can't run all games on maxx settings then you were seriously ripped off or you didn't do five minutes research into what you were buying.
As for accessibility of PC games, I have never had a problem. I read all this rubbish about driver conflicts and update problems and just shak...
All I see is you guys making excuses for why it didn't sell. The reason it didn't sell is becaue PC gamers didn't care enough to buy it. The reason why they didn't buy it is immaterial, they obviously didn't care about the franchise enough to purchase a copy for their PC.
It is the same with Halo, yes Halo is a big franchise on the Xbox but outside of that NO ONE CARES. Both Gears and Halo are perfect examples of hyped games that console gamers clamour after but when they ar...
If that is the case then please tell me why other PC titles have NO problem selling well over a million ? Games like Witcher, Stalker, Crysis, C&C 3 and Orange Box don't seem to have a problem. Yet for some bizarre reason Gears probably didn't even sell 100,000 on the PC, hm I wonder why that is ? It's because the game was crap and PC gamers saw it for that.
I guess you don't like people trashing your beloved "exclusive", Gears is a third rate game there is NOTHI...
Where do I start, it was repetitive and dull. The graphics were subpar even on both my PC's (quad + 8800gts and Duo + 8600gt), the graphics were bland and dull, the weapons were weak and uninteresting, the enemy were too generic and dumb. As for the the story line, did it actually have one ? The control scheme was complete tripe if you used a mouse and keyboard (which I do since I play PC games). I never played it with a joypad because I abhor the things. Oh and that is before you take int...
Ms did the maths a long long time ago and came to the conclusion that killing gaming off on the PC would have negligible impact on the sales of it's OS. So it has probably figured lets go for the "screw people" model and force them to buy two devices when one would suffice. They really do NOT want people gaming on a PC, they want people gaming on THEIR console and browsing the net on a PC with THEIR OS.
There is a reason why XBL is a completely closed off network ...
