Yes because Sony doesn't charge for it's development kits or charge a royalty for each disc printed ............ Oh wait yes they do. Infact if memory serves Sony have a higher royalty fee than Microsoft (unfortunately I lost the link). The reason for MS having a lower royalty fee is down to them trying to encourage developers to the Xbox. I believe Sony did a similar tactic during the PS1 era to try and get developers away from Nintendo's system.
But then you probably won't p...
Interesting article, I am glad it took time to highlight the REAL reason why PC games are cheaper than console games. It has little to do with piracy and more to do with royalties and development kits, these charges inevitably get passed onto the consumer.
So why would PC gamers care about the PS3's market share in the UAE ? I think this is more to do with "showing everyone the PS3 is doing well in a market most couldn't give a goss about". I come to the PC section for PC news. If I wanted to find out what the PS3 is doing I would go to the PS3 section.
not one to nitpick but shouldn't this be PS3 news only. I very rarely venture out of the PC section so I am not sure why I need to read about PS3 news in the PC section.
In that case I would lump the consoles with the "very few good games" part. The exclusives on both the Xbox and PS3 have been underwhelming. Meanwhile nearly every multiplatform game has performed better on a decent PC than it has on a console.
I would say PC gaming is pretty healthy with 22 titles being launched this month, with 9 of those titles being exclusive to the PC. Fair enough none of those exclusives are "MGS4 quality" but then you won't get that ...
True I just think they should be doing a hell of a lot more than merely going "oh he's wrong". But then it must be difficult for them to do anything with MS and Epic on board. Neither of those two companies will want the PCGA to be too successful at it's goals now.
It just seems to me at the current time the PCGA is nothing but a complete waste of space and they don't seem to be doing anything. They should be going on the offensive not reacting to crap that idiots ...
Wow the PCGA actually did something. I am in shock I wonder if they will now have a go at Epic and CliffyB for the crap he has been spouting ..... Oh no wait Epic are board members on the PCGA so no chance of that happening. Seriously this organisation is a joke.
It's a nice idea but so far I can't say I am too impressed. I downloaded D.I.P.R.I.P and cannot get on a server for love nor money. So I set up my own and drove around for about 30 minutes and no one joined. It's a shame really it looked like a pretty good car battle game, ho well such is life.
Larrabee isn't even out yet so no it doesn't outperform anything else that is out there because it isn't OUT. These performance stats that keep getting banded around by Intel are PROPOSED specs in TWO years time. In two years time I am pretty sure Nvidia and ATI will have cards out there that are 5 times more powerful than what we have now.
I can't see people being bothered with this once GTA 4 hits the PC. I imagine the Modding community will move onto GTA 4 too. SO I would say a lil bit too late but nice try.
I think I know why you like the third screenshot, it could have something to do with the BUMp mapping lol.
Serious note I still can't believe they are releasing Tombraider games on the PC. I bought legend and vowed never to touch the series ever again. It is less about adventure and exploring and more about getting from a to b the quickest. If they do a demo of Tombraider Underwear erm I mean Underworld I will give it a go but aside from it looking all lovely and pretty I am n...
Well two things happened firstly Vista turned out to be a dog of an operating system. If MS had made Dx10 work in XP as well then we would all be playing games in Dx10 now, but they didn't. They foolishly thought people would go out and pay $200 for an operating system just to play Dx10 games, which leads us nicely into the next thing.
MS has done the sums, it isn't in their interest to be a backer of PC games. Think about this for a second as a business what is in MS's intere...
I very much doubt Duken Nukem Forever will be a 360 exclusive, the site has no evidence to support such a claim other than "oh some insider we know" yeah right. This game has been in development for the PC for over 10 years and now all of a sudden it's an xbox exclusive, I don't think so.
Thank god this isn't marked as multi or you would have seen your bubbles disappear fast. I don't personally consider myself a PC fanboy, I am not gaming on a PC out of loyalty to the platform.
I play games on the PC because I want high resolutions, fast framerates and a control system that lets me enjoy playing games. The day a console offers me the same flexibility, resolutions, framerates and decent control system will be the day I switch to console gaming. This generation t...
and the crowd is deafened by the silence from PC gamers that really don't care. This game was an abomination seriously they shouldn't have bothered with the PC version at all.
These larrabee articles are getting a bit ridiculous. They are comparing 2008 cards with a gpu that isn't slated to come out till late 2009/2010 (nearly two years from now). Hey guess what the HD4870 is nearly three times faster than my 2 year old 8800GTS OMGZ.
I think we can safely say by 2010 Nvidia and AMD will have products out there that easily match larrabee. If anything Larrabee might not even appear on the PC if MS get tempted by the hardware for it's new console.
Did he specifically say PC exclusives ? no he didn't there is a very valid reason why there are few PC exclusives and it has sod all to do with the "market being in tatters". MS poors millions in keeping games exclusive to their console and preventing them being released on any other platform, Sony poured millions into buying developers to keep games exclusive to their console.
If a developer makes a PC exclusive game there is no organisation to ensure that the game ...
Interesting vid, they just basically cover everything we already know about this pathetic DRM. I am glad to see I am not the only one that is skeptical about this "de-authorisation" tool. One thing I disagree with though is when they state the review score shouldn't be affected by the DRM. That isn't true when you buy a game you are buying the WHOLE package and the DRM should have a bearing on the overall rating of the game. Just because a developer releases a great game that ge...
I don't know what you did wrong then because my two year old Quad + 8800gts can play all games today better than the consoles. I can even get Crysis running at 1440 x 900 on high settings with no problems. You seem to be quite happy to play your games at 1280 x 720 (the res of nearly all console games) so are you telling me your 2 year old PC can't even manage Crysis at that res !!!!!! With the latest Nvidia drivers I can play Crysis Warhead at 1280 x 720 on enthusiast settings.
Makes you wonder just how far these publishers will go to make a buck really. I expect soon the CEO of EA or Ubisoft will offer their mother up for a quick lay to get a special code so you can download extra special content for the demo.
I understand these companies are in it for money but seriously it is getting way out of hand. The PC demo is a useful tool for PC gamers to use to gauge whether the game will run on their PC. Now to restrict it to Coke drinkers is money grabbi...
