The steam service caters for a certain type of consumer, clearly you are not that type. I personally prefer to buy all my games from steam the mere fact I do not need a dvd in the drive to play single player AND multi player makes the service invaluable.
I am not saying steam is a perfect service, I think the pricing at times sucks (mostly not their fault) and they can be tardy on meeting the release dates for everywhere outside the US. However those issues aside I really do not...
"Concoles dominate the Pc in every corner of the market, from the Consoles themselves to the games and periphrials."
Please show me a franchise that makes nearly $150 million a month on the console. Oh wait there isn't one so your assertion that "consoles dominate every corner of the market" is clearly wrong. The way people buy PC games has changed. I never go into a games store why the hell would I ? I can either order my games online over the net and have...
Hm that is curious I didn't realise the story was "why doesn't The Matrix play games on the PC any more ?". You do know that no one cares why you don't play games on the PC any more don't you. If you are not going to make a comment on the story then just don't say anything.
It comes as no surprise to me the PC is still so strong. It is not the case that PC gaming is dying, it is a case that most publishers are not bringing products to the PC that PC gamers want to buy...
Just buy a cheap PC set Crysis to Low settings and hey presto you are playing the console version (now lets just wait and see all the disagrees mount up).
It's nice to see Rockstar giving the PC a bit of special loving for a change.
Well granted a day isn't much but it is a bit unprofessional of them.
I am afraid I am with you here Creep (lonely isn't it). I just do not get what the fuss is with this game. I have been a PC gamer all my life and tried the demo out and I just don't get it. The game is so repetitive it makes farcry 2 look like the epitome of diversity. It's just enter area and kill zombies, now enter new area and kill zombies and just when you think it's all over you enter another area and kill zombies.
Now having said that I am not slagging the game off, it ...
Exactly psnDevistator356 the list of improvements Rockstar has made to the game for the PC make it more than worthy of repurchasing. The previews have been incredibly positive with comments like :-
"when I turned on the console version for the first time in months that I said to myself: "Wow. This looks dated by comparison to the PC"
"Rockstar told us that the equivalent vehicle density featured on the console versions would have been just 33 per cent.&...
That's odd I haven't upgraded my PC in two years and yet here it is playing games better than your wonderful consoles ohhhh isn't that a surprise.
I know terrible isn't it all this piracy the only thing that could possibly be worse is if they managed to get a pirated copy out over a week before the game was due out ............. oh wait that already happened with the xbox version didn't it. Now unlike the xbox version which allows you to use a pirated copy for online play the PC version will require you to purchase it if you want to use the multi player.
If you want to play GTA 4 online with the PC version you will have to buy a copy. Unlike the pirated Xbox 360 version which can be played online no problem.
I don't actually have a problem with online activation of the game myself. The game comes with multiplayer content so I can't see where the beef is about that. However I am glad to see it will not have limited activations and installs.
That means I can go ahead and buy it now, I paid £200 to play this o...
Yeah PC gaming is dead when Fallout 3 a vastly superior game to Farcry 2 is number 1. Most people seem to be in agreement that farcry 2 is a very very bad game. I am actually amazed it's at number 4 I would expect a title with such dubious quality to be much lower in the charts.
yes that was my point people can try before they buy and I am betting a lot of people tried farcry 2 and it didn't meet with their approval. You just need to see the fact that Fallout 3 is beating it sales wise and that was available on torrents as well. So you have to ask yourself why is fallout 3 selling better than farcry 2 then, if they are both available for pirating ? The answer is simple people are trying fallout 3 enjoying it and buying it whereas people are trying farcry 2 seeing ...
Farcry 2 was an appallingly dull, repetitive and unrewarding game. I think most PC gamers had the ability to try before they buy and chose not to buy it because it was a god awful game.
I was wondering could I have some of what you are smoking ChrisGTR1 because piracy had absolutely nothing to do with ensemble's closure. It is a matter of record that MS is culling costs and developers to try and make as much profit as possible out the xbox 360 and to help pay for the price reduction they just did on their console. So if you want to blame a system then blame the xbox 360.
Nah MS has done the maths and it wants you gaming on their console and doing all your other crap on a PC with their operating system. That way they get you to pay twice. The PC desperately needs another company to come out with a gaming orientated OS that would start MS sweating a bit if it took off.
I really don't think many pc gamers actually care about the halo franchise or any of it's spin off titles anymore. You just need to look at how badly Halo 2 did to realise that for PC gamers this franchise isn't up to much in their view.
PS3 trophy support for GTA 4 was released nearly a month ago :-
http://www.gta4.net/news/41...
Obviously you have to download a patch to enable Trophy support in GTA 4.
"I can't run any new games at high at all, Farcry 2, Fallout 3, Dead space and I can't even run Red Alert 3 at very high or it will be crawling and that's frustrating!"
and I suppose you think the console runs these games at very high do they ? At best most console games are the equivalent of MEDIUM settings on the PC. That's right not very high but MEDIUM and at a low resolution of 720p. Now I don't see you complaining that your console only runs the game at medium ...
Pricing is a bit whack, it's $39.99 which at current conversion rates makes the game close to £30 when VAT is added on. I can get a boxed copy of GTA 4 from a shop for £24.99. I think steam needs to start getting a bit more competitive if it wants to grow.
