But what do you do about BC?
With no disc drive, no BC, and I was told that this is the feature every gamer needs.
Is it possible that in fact, nobody care about BC on next gen consoles? Shocking.
They could have lowered one X price to S level, and make it the low end model for next gen.
So now first party exclusives will have to be available on SX and One S. With such a power difference, it will me hard to convince me that this will not hold back game designs for a couple of years.
Who will buy it now?
If you want to buy a MS console to play their exclusives, SX is the way to go, as it will be BC.
Buying base One S would simply be a waste of money, especially if Lockheart is a real thing.
Maybe you missed the point were One X is discarded before SX launch, the very same day MS is BS about how gamers are the futur and they will support Xbox One from the deepest of their heart because they dont want to force anything.
See the irony?
One X user will never be able to use the power of their console, which developper will take time to adapt upcoming games for a discarded console?
They are just killing One X cold, sad story en...
Ha ha ha, how the turntables... So much for gamer choice and all the other BS from an other article i have read.
So now it is clear, you have no choice if you want to jump on Xbox brand, you are forced to buy SX.
Must be hard to felt so forced.
Well, i repeat myself today, but this is another lame move from MS tricking and confusing people.
@timotim
But what is different now versus Xbox to Xbox 360 and 360 to one ?
Why is MS communicating so much on this particularity of SX launch and « forced transition »?
They could have supported the same strategy without explicitly saying no first party exclusive for 2 years, to keep all doors open.
They are inventing problems and solutions were none exist, as for the over branded smart-delivery....
My opinion also.
I would add that this is a other brick in the wall of Xbox being just a service available on all possible hardware than console maker.
They are doing the opposite of competition, especially Nintendo.
And by the numbers, without being a genius, it is hard to argue than MS is doing better on console hardware business than its competitors, so something must be at play with their strategy.
This is a way to see it.
I am convinced that this is in opposition with what console gamer community want for new gen.
As for my personal situation, I play all the MS exclusive I like on my PC.
Xbox strategy is made in a way you don’t event need to buy the console to play the games.
To go your way, they give a heck of a choice with this if you can afford a gaming PC.
But I am convinced that in the end it hold back...
So, you are on a crusade for troll eradication.
At some times they were guys called Inquisition that were using the same technique: call anyone they displease witch and burn them.
You are commenting here full speed naming troll every comment that disagree with your beliefs, without proposing any argument or counterpoint to the discussion.
Seems like troll definition from were I stand.
That is the role of third party studios.
They usually make cross gen release of their titles to get sales front both gen the time next gen volume is high enough.
MS role should be to double down on their new HW with top notch exclusives to jump start hw sales.
They are acting for me as software developers with this statement, not hardware manufacturer that push their next product.
For example, even if they got a « ent...
You are right, but same thing apply for you.
Let’s get our ignorant degree together then.
We will talk facts a few months in after next gen launch, if guys like you are even able to accept facts has truth.
I can surely find a couple of guys the would explain me that Xbox One is the best platform for current gen beside any sales or exclusive release facts.
Well, if you are fine with no counterpoint to MS PR and all the promised wonders that turns BS for years and made Xbox a shadow of what it could have been, then indeed we should let you alone in your corner.
Wake up and start to put real pressure on MS to make things evolved for your community.
Because honestly, seeing some Xbox fans happy to have no exclusives tailored for next gen hardware for years is quite sad, after all the time they spent to expla...
Still believe this is the worst strategy to follow.
How can you in one hand say the got the best console ever for next gen with tremendous upgrades and in the other say nah, you don’t need it to continue to play our games.
This is mind boggling message, and if you don’t follow closely MS PR is is difficult to understand what you got with SX.
With Lockhart this will become even more confusing.
Gamers wants, even crave, to go to next g...
You made my day.
It will run at 30fps on consoles, period.
That will be the most interesting topic of this gen: will new console architecture will push PC min requirement to include a SSD, or big RAM quantity to compensate? Does some console game will not be portable on PC?
@Sciurius
I believe very few third party studios will make SX only exclusives.
Vast majority of third party games will come to PS5 and PC also.
Even first party SX exclusive will come to PC, supposedly at launch.
MS is just cutting a huge opportunity to start anew with SX and gain core gamers interest.
I agree with your analysis, and that is for me the biggest drawback from MS.
They are looking for volume over quality, for the simple reason they want to secure as much subscriptions as possible, whatever is the gaming platform.
They don’t even care I you play any game, as long as you keep your monthly subscription going in.
With that mindset, Xbox brand is doomed to stay a lesser brand that brings nothing to the industry except paying account...
Keep believing blindly.
With Spencer reasoning, you can play Witcher 3 on Atari ST by putting the sliders low enough.
That is simply not true, at some point of a time tech progresses allow for breakthrough not portable on older tech.
Are we at this point between One X and SX ? I believe yes.
If not, that means that all R&D spent by MS and Sony to solve bottlenecks on their next platforms was not needed as nothing was held back by...
Spencer is avoiding the main issue of the decision.
The PC example he use is valid if the heterogeneity of the HW base only impact cosmetic or dispensable game elements.
It is not true for core element of a game. For example if SSD speed if a way that is a core gameplay feature ( like PS5 Ratchet instant wrap), the game will either not be available on the HW without SSD, or worst the game concept will be scrapped to comply with lesser platform.
Oh no, not that again.
Every corporation the size of Microsoft is playing to be number one.
They certainly not aiming to be number one one hardware sold as it seems they strategy is elsewhere.
But please stop saying you are here to grow the industry by kind heart.
This week is a big mess of MS PR, I honestly don't know anymore what to expect from July 23rd show....
