Yeah, I was a little skeptical at first too, but now that I'm seeing all these people go at Tecmo, there has to be something going on......or maybe it's a conspiracy! lol
On the subject of NG2's story, I completley agree. I think it would have a lot of potential to be on the level of God of War games in terms of production if Team Ninja joined up with MGS. I finished the game, and the story really isn't that bad (what's there at least), but they just don't expand on anything. It's just all far too simple. I'd love to see a NG game with a lot more complex story.
This worked out fairly well on Planetside if anyone recalls. The ads were only placed in the central hub area of your main base where the enemy could never be. Sure, the audio was a little annoying, but it didn't distract you from action, since there was no action in that area. I can definitely see this being added to many more games in the future.
It would be foolish to call it a failure just because the DS is a more polished system that sold better. Nintendo has been doing handhelds since the late 80's. Sony did well for a first try. They just stuck to their console roots a tad too much. I think they'll do better next time. Maybe I'll consider buying the next one if they do well.
Last time I checked, writing a letter notioning that you should kill people to get a hearing is something to check into. I can't blame the government for being concerned after all that's happened in recent years.
I'd say a large number of 360 owners spawned from Halo 1 selling the original Xbox, so it's true that it probably wouldn't sell nearly as many copies for PS3.
Nice to see a reasonable statement from a PS3 owner. You're a rare breed my friend. It saddens me that I have to say that. Of course, 360 owners are just as bad as most PS3 owners when it comes to fanboyism. GG world.
Enough with the Halo hating =\
But I do agree on Dead Rising. It was a great concept, but it really lacked in some areas. Still a fun game though.
Sure, that's the easy way out, but not everyone has the money or feels like dishing out the money to do so. Personally, I own a 360, and I have nothing against PS3(don't like the controller much, but it's a good console), but I don't feel like dishing out the money for a couple of exclusives. It's just not worth it to me.
Rich people always have some kind of solution like that, don't they. Makes me think of the people that have multiple consoles just to network them instead of playing online.
It's a good thing you put upgrade in quotes, haha. Don't anger the fanboys :)
I can understand why people want exclusives on their console too, but people just need to accept that this is how things are these days.
I wouldn't say it's not innovative, but it's not groundbreaking. They took a good formula and made some nice tweaks and additions to it. That's all it needs as long as the story stays good.
Good post. I agree 100%.
Part of the problem is that many people have an Xbox simply for shooter games like Halo and don't care for games with heavy story development and slower-paced action. I happen to be a shooter fan that bought a 360 for the shooter selection, but shooters aren't the only genre I love, and I have to suffer missing out on great games like MSG4.
Yeah...it's a bit silly to compare completely different genres like that, especially when you haven't even experienced MGS. If it's not your cup of tea, fine, but there's really no reason to pointlessly comment.
Wouldn't surprise me if the same thing happened to MSG4 in a few months. Games always seem better when the hype is high. Sure, neither of the games will never be even close to an average game, but they lose their initial luster eventually. It's an unavoidable cycle.
The thing about GTA4 to me is that they spent a lot more bringing the city to life than making it massive like San Andreas. Sure, there's not quite as much to do once the story is done, but you can't deny that the city is much more believable this time around.
Yup, every amazing game has room for improvement, and that's why the gaming industry will keep chugging along, improving things as it goes.
Well, out of your list there, I'd say Mario 64 and Ocarina of Time would be my only 10's. I feel a 10 is only worthy of a truly groundbreaking game. All the others are surely between a 9.5-9.9, amazing games by all rights. I just think a 10 just isn't as special as it used to be these days.
Would be nice, seeing that I'm not Playstation owner. I was lucky enough to play the original on Dreamcast (<3 Bleemcast, and if anyone actually remembers that, I <3 you as well) and the 2nd on my original Xbox, but I feel left out without the last two. It definitely sucks sometimes to not have the cash to dish out for both systems.
But, like just about everyone, I doubt it'll come to Xbox.
It definitely opens up even more to the casual players, and the last 2 games already did that to great extent. Yet, the game still keeps a more technical in-depth side that the hardcore fans always manage to create. If only I owned a Wii...
