I'd say what made it so popular is it was the first good arcade style action RPG. A lot of people don't like the slow pacing of most RPGs, and this was the fix for those people. You get all the progression of an RPG with the frantic fragfest of a typical action game. It's a formula that many games have mimicked over the years.

Well, I think they're planning on stopping WoW additions after WotLK, and if the new MMO is announced, it won't out until well after people have had ebough of WotLK. I don't think Blizzard wants to compete with its own game. So, it'll just be WoW all over again without any extra casualties. It'll be most of the same WoW junkies.

But all these important people have been saying D3 will be announced, so maybe it's goin to be both? I'll gladly take an announcement for a game 5 years down the road. It's nice just to know what's coming.

Indeed. Zealots own faces. I like Dark Templars more, though. Zeratul is my hero.

Darn Blizzard. If this is true, my Blizzard MMO addiction will return when this comes out. And I just broke my WoW addiction =(

I can't say I agree with the whole article, but they're definitley right about the combat at least. The camera leaves much to be desired, and I think it would probably do wonders if it simply kept a more zoomed out, higher perspective view. The offscreen cheapshots are the only real issue with the camera, but man do they happen a lot. A wider view could easily fix that if you ask me.

Well, NG for the Xbox was the same way in story. It seems the game is made for the people that just want to kill stuff in beautifully smooth combat. Heck, that alone keeps me coming back. I can live without a good story in NG's case. I would have liked to see a compelling story, though. There's a lot of room for it in both games. With such a vast, relatively unknown world, all kinds of things could unravel.

I seriously doubt Blizzard would break such a proven formula in the 3rd game. They're known to stick to their roots and do nothing more than improve upon their previous titles. Look at all their franchises. All they've ever done is improve on the previous title in every sequel. Even SC2 is already shaping up to be the same way. Blizzard is one developer that definitley knows how to make a sequel properly.

Street Fighter was such a bad movie, but I'd watch it again. It's bad enough to just be funny.

Yeah, PS3 definitely is the more reliable system this time around. It's a good thing Sony made up for the problems they had with the PS2. I know people that went through PS2's just like people now go through 360's.

Well, I don't see anything wrong in being the "bad guy", but when it comes down to things like torture, I simply can't grasp how it would be entertaining if you have any moral values. Games like GTAIV where you're not really a good guy don't bother me at all, because you're not gruesomely killing people. Now games like Manhunt are the ones that don't appeal to me. Personally, I just don't see any entertainment in pointless, overly violent death.

Things like torture are where I draw my line in video games. Killing a virtual person is one thing, but I can't find any entertainment in causing a slow, painful-looking virtual death. Things like this seem to appeal to the same people that enjoy watching people die in horror movies just for the violence.

Fanboy colors sure show when somebody doesn't want to make the same type of game that you absolutely adore and would die for. All he said is his opinion, that cutscenes are less welcomed these days. He's saying that most people want to see stuff in-game, which is true for a lot of gamers. I can't see how you people think he's dissing MGS4. All he said is he doesn't want to make a cutscene-driven game. You Playstation fanboys are far too sensitive about your precious MGS4 to look at what he ac...

Halo had a fight? And all this time I thought I was picking flowers!

Haha, just joking, but Gears 2 certainly is a pretty looking game. I can't wait to see more gameplay in action. I'm hoping the enemies actually react to getting shot in the face this time around. That was my only big complaint about the campaign in the first one.

Fanboys love seeing the competition lose exclusives. It's more "haha, my console is better than yours" bullcrap for them to senselessly blurt out. It's pretty apparent in the comments here.

Personally, I think it's a smart move for a lot more companies to avoid exclusives. It's generally the best move for profits if they can pull it off. Plus, it makes me happy to not be missing out on good games.

Yeah...please keep the fanboyism in the open zone. It's not like Playstation exclusives haven't jumped to multiplatform before. These things go both ways. Companies tend to do what they think can make them the most money, and frankly, console exclusives usually aren't the best way to make the biggest profits.

You're not wrong at all Condoleezza, but he does have a point about PC not really factoring in that much seeing that it's not in competition with consoles. Saying it's an Xbox exclusive just isn't the right wording I'd say. It's not really exclusive, but at the same time, it's exclusive to only one console.
