Being poor has nothing to do with getting your money's worth. People are upset that their themes they paid money for are suddenly useless. I don't think well off people enjoy throwing money away (or they wouldn't be rich), so it's not really about being poor.
Also, the themes aren't like $100 or anything, so you don't have to be rich to buy one. It's about spending your money wisely, and a lot of people are pissed that their investment has gone down the drain even before the next...
I actually like the one enemy at a time gameplay. It reminded me of SotC, fighting bosses that feel epic (not in scale this time, but strength). I'm also not sure if those guys are the only enemies though. They have those wall sliding monsters in the previews I've seen, so there's probably some other enemies scattered around.

L4D isn't a sleeper hit by any stretch of the imagination. I'm sure it's sales are already topping the charts at least in the US. It has been receiving a fair amount of hype, and probably some people's most anticipated game. It may not go up against Gears very well, but the PC crowd will eat it up.

Yeah, I think every game should come with a map editor like Far Cry 2's (just with better implementation). I think it's fun to make maps and share them, and it adds a TON of replay value as long as the gameplay is solid. I didn't think Far Cry 2 was that good, but originally half my reason for getting it was the map editor, and what that meant for multiplayer.
I'm getting a bit tired of paying for extra maps when there are a ton of people out there who will make even better ones...

First it was nunchucks and play and charge kits, then the classic controller (maybe even a gamecube one), then the Wii Fit board, and soon Wii motion plus. Both the Gears 2 commercials give the sense that the main characters are already doomed, and they know it. I haven't played Gears 2, and I doubt that's actually what happens, but its a pretty powerful message.

Forcing Home on start up is a really bad idea. It would cause an unnecessary strain on the Home servers causing them constantly to crash. Plus, it wouldn't even matter if people were forced in if they left right away. You'd just get people popping up in their houses to leave right away. It would add a ridiculous load time just to boot the PS3 into a game.
