Remakes ahoy! Why make new IPs when you can just re-release decade old games at full new-game price?
Up next: Madden Football '95! It's a classic! Now for the low-low price of $69.95. Also features updated rosters and graphics!
I love the IDEA of a FF remake, but for full price? Again? C'mon!
And just because people seem to ignore this:
-Sony is still losing ~$200/console
-This drop is in the manufacturing cost, meaning they'd be losing only #100/console
-If they drop the PS3's price, they'd just be losing $200 again.
They can't afford any price drop if they want to stay in business with the PS3.
Here's a quick review of the case history:
EVERY. SINGLE. GAME....that Sony showed at the infamous CGI-laden e3 '05 that's actually been released since then has gotten graphical downgrades comapred to those videos. Every single game not released yet, but which has shown real gameplay, has been similarly downgraded.
Logically, then, we're left with only one conclusion about whether or not Killzone will match its trailer. It is possible, perhaps. Likely? Hell no.
Hilarity?
Hope so. It'd be only 2 years late at that point. You gotta start somewhere.
HDMI v1.3 is superior in every way, but is only implemented on a tiiiiny fraction of HDTVs. And the 1.3 standard causes problems on 1.2 connections, including a buzzing sound on the audio, from what I've heard.
That's why.
The Gamecube controller was only perfect for Zelda- it was not right for action or fighting games because of the unbalanced buttons. Sometimes even access to all buttons is needed. The Z shoulder was also an oddity. Why in the world didn't they at least mirror it instead of just leaving it there by itself? The controller needed a touch of fine-tuning. Good, but not perfect.
Yeah, it's the gamers' fault, Miyamoto. Your game was perfect in every way, and it's only unfortunate that we as mere human beings weren't able to appreciate that.
It doesn't have anything to do with the flailing and sometimes frustratingly unresponsive Wii controls, the fact that the game was better on the Gamecube (which kovenator rightly pointed out didn't have shortages), or that the game stars a sexually ambiguous cyber-kat and you face digitally pixellated enemies that br...
That's probably it...
1) Was there ever a firm, MS-released date for this patch? I don't think there was, just rumors. "Pushed back" is a rough term.
2) Hackers* found out what protection MS was going to implement against them in the upcoming patch, and found a way around that. MS may be delaying to do fix this issue, so you might be right.
*Note that "hackers" in this case are only people trying to play backups of 360 games- hacking the core s...
You mean besides the double and triple Arcade releases, the new TV shows including Daily show and Colbert report, the tons of new content including the afforementioned RvB pics...??
His very valid point is that Wii isn't stealing away any 360 owners. If anything, every 360 owner I know who wanted a Wii just got both consoles. I personally don't know of any person at all who looked at a decision between Wii or a 360 (or Ps3) and straight-up chose the Wii unless they were primarily a Nintendo fan already.
Ummmm... sorry to come in and go all factual on you guys, but they're saying the PRODUCTION COST could be cut- the final cost of the system, as shown on the chart, is "Total cost: 840.35", that's ~$240.36 above retail price.
Sony's still losing over $200 per console, while the Elite is being sold at a heft profit per unit. If Sony cut the PS3's price by, say, $100- they'd be losing nearly half of the sale value in every unit sold because of manufacturing costs.
Nintendo and brashness just do not go together.
And what he's doing is, yes, disrespecting Halo. He's saying it's unoriginal, and that it's not fun to play.
The only reason he's going to get away with it is because people will afford more room for a Japanese developer to say this about American games- if Bungie said they could make Zelda, people would boycott Halo 3 in droves.
I also like how he says it's a good thing that he doesn't listen to gamer feedba...
Errr... sooo... what's so different?
I like how they seem to have dodged the bare-breasted (save bodypaint) girls at the event, and showed only the actors in full dress. Nice way to cut the video.
They're still using a real slaughtered animal at a press event, and the implication is still eating the animal's innards. Oh, but instead of being just part of the press event, it's part of a competition, so it's all cool now. ???
^^^And does that anger P...
Sony's also losing over $200 per unit on the hardware alone. They absolutely can NOT afford a price cut.
You gotta admit, it is hilarious to see what literally IS PS3's logo font on an Xbox case. I'd have to do a doubletake myself. Yes, anyone can figure it out, but brand identity is a big thing. It'd be like having the Pepsi logo on a CocaCola console game- you're not supposed to get brand identities mixed up like that.
Oh. My. God.
Using a heavy graphical interface in a graphic-intensive OS that is itself a pretty big resource hog causes your laptop to expend its battery in a shorter time-frame than normal?
HOW WILL THE WORLD EVER BE THE SAME AGAIN?
[/sarcasm]
Come on, people. Win 95 drained laptops faster than 3.1, as did 98 as opposed to 95, as did (skipping some steps) XP as opposed to 98. Oh but no, THIS time it's a wild and evil conspiracy because Microsoft hates you...
Oh no! All of my completely illegal rips of movies and TV shows have to be CONVERTED before I can view them? Aw, shucks.
;)
"Motorstorm, Heavenly Sword, Killzone"
Only one of those has been released, and I'm pretty sure it was outsold by Crackdown. Yes, perhaps on the wings of the H3 beta, but nonetheless. As stated- 360 has already had a few other major Euro releases, and some of them (like PGR3) have sold extremely well.
"hence why there are less shooters for Sony and more for Microsoft"
Dipping back to Xbox and going forward a bit: some European Xbox and Xbox 360...
1) Next-gen DVD =/= gaming.
2) Even if BluRay wins the DVD battle, Microsoft has already promised a future BluRay drive for 360. Microsoft can't lose this battle, even if you do think this is somehow a console issue.
3) If BluRay loses, Sony's screwed generally, and doesn't really have much of a back-up plan. So Sony's the only company that could even theoretically lose, even if you were to accept this was part of the console war.
4) The majority of DVD sales are still on...
