The only issue with blowing off this article, of course, is the related headline:
"MGS4 Won't Be Changed Because of 360"
The developers are certainly milling it over, at least.
Just so we're all on the same page, things Sony was "already working on":
-Motion control (working on it before Nintendo filed their patent, so they're not ripping off Nintendo at all)
-A service to counter Xbox Live (which they were imagining before PS2 launched, so obviously they're not ripping off Xbox at all)
-Rumble for PS3, which only months ago they said was last-gen and would never be included on the PS3, yet they were 'always' working toward it after th...
Anyone who believes an online, open poll, where anyone can post, as being scientifically accurate needs their head checked.
Heck, I'll go on and pretend my 360 broke a lot right now. WHEEE!!!
(Got it Christmas Eve, still no problem.)
UPDATE: I don't want to give away my gamertag, but it's a pretty hilarious comment.
The point is really, just as Microsoft predicted, Wii isn't really competition, while PS3 is (Wii really IS for nontraditional gamers, a totally different user base). And because of the price issues, you can own Wii60 for about the price of PS3.
So Wii doesn't really hurt 360, and when people have money for a second console, Wii is the logical choice. With 360's large install base, people comboing up on Wii60 just means less people who have any reason to invest in PS3. Their ne...
mOLD. I saw this in college, years ago.
As said elsewhere on the interwebs, this is some content hacked out of the demo, and its reliability is nil. Bungie could have literally just tried it in the shop one day, found out it was something they didn't want to include in the game, and it might have accidentally stayed in the code because they didn't have time to rip it out.
*raises a mug*
If only there were surefire ways to protect the innocent, I'd be all for it. But the moment you brick consoles, some bug would wind up happening to screw unmodded people. And that's not a bash agaisnt anyone- that's just what happens in the computer industry.
Still, maybe you could appeal the decision and get a free repair if not guilty or... something...
All you really get to see are the game customization options. Although that's cool and all, there's not much more in there than you see in the playlists.
And as I'm sure has been repeated elsewhere- the whole point of the beta is to find bugs. Hard to argue with results like this.
For those who doesn't know, when the dragon zooms up on a target, the developers revealed what you do is waggle the controller to line up the other dragon on the screen and tap X to attack it. Or, if it's a larger dragon, tapping X initiates a fighting game that they've compared to "Punch Out" but "unlike Punch-Out, we have combos".
Amazing gameplay, no?
No.
"but right now it’s not fun to help your team win [...] when the only reward for you is a negative K/D ratio in the post-game stats page. "
^You know, stats other than for example, the fact that you won the game and how many points you scored. You know, that. Or the medals for scores and other feats, INCLUDING MVPs for the round just like they asked for, complete with the top medal-winners for the round. Or the full stats at Bungie.net. Oh, or saving game replays to g...
And it really looks like SCII instead of an MMO or something. Sweet.
...and as said before, if PS3's so powerful, when's it going to prove it? PS3 still doesn't have any game (as in, real demoed gameplay) that surpasses 360.
An 80+% dropoff in sales after the first week and quickly falling to third in overall sales doesn't look so good, though.
I buy fewer titles at $60 than I would at $50.
And yeah, I think I'm going to get GameFly and/or Netflix soon. Renting from local video stores is waaaayyy too big of a ripoff now.
For anyone who missed it, these maps will soon be downloadable for free as well. They're only "required" if you just have to play in the affected playlists right this moment.
There was a delay that didn't even exceed one day, and Bungie extended the beta several days because of it.
....and that's a massive fiasco how?
"Any game that is worth anything gets delayed multiple times...Gears of War did"
-And how many times was it rebuilt from the ground up, its graphical style changed, and it distribution method switched around? Once. There was one shift in art toward the end of development.
"Halo 3 was "hoping to be" a launch title when announced in 2004"
-Bill Gates hoped it would be a launch title in one interview, but there was much furor in the medi...
In case anyone missed it, last time this happened, it was actually the PlayStation Store (I think) that had ripped a PGR 3 shot.
It's almost a slur at this point.
My prediction from before this event: The developers would basically change the entire game yet again (this is what, the dozenth time?) and everyone would STILL be heralding this like it's the greatest thing to ever happen to the title.
Nevermind that it was supposed to be a PS3 launch title with graphics that were supposed to blow this out of the water, it's totally cool that the game keeps getting delayed, reformatted, totally changed ...
That would be a valid comment, Truth, except that Sony is dead last in the console battle globally and desperately needs to catch up. Not to mention Sony's game division has experienced tremendous financial losses that Sony has proven it can't really absorb. Staying in third place just isn't an option. Everyone in the industry knows that Sony needs to get its big guns blazing if it's going to dig out of this hole.
And yet, 360's upcoming lineup is as big or bigger, with the mas...
