(In US$)
An NES title on VC- $5
Similar game on Xbox Live - $4
A fuller game on VC- <=$10
Similar on Xbox Live $8
Not to mention the Xbox Live titles have online play, achievements, and/or "retro" versions and/or graphical updates, etc.
Not that I wouldn't pay $5 for Tecmo Bowl or Ice Hockey (I did), but that's definately all I'm buying right now. Compared to Xbox Live, the VC titles just don't have much value.
In case anyone missed it, BluRay uses basically the exact same system, and was cracked wide open at the exact same time.
A few things:
1- You can call Microsoft, tell them your old system crashed and that you need your downloads refunded so you can migrate systems, and they'll usually respond by making it so you can redownload all your games like new.
2- The Elite comes with a disclaimer, and this is also online, that you SHOULD NOT upgrade / switch over / etc if you don't want this to happen, and all of this is explicitly spelled out in that disclaimer.
My original Xbox with the "problem" Thompson drive that supposedly has so many issues still works just fine, and I'm sure if I looked at this site I'd be told my current 360 has massive sound problems when it's absolutely no issue for me.
Don't care / 10.
And how much you wanna bet there will never be any kind of site like this for the PS3, because the PS3 supposedly doesn't have any issues at all? (every local retailer I know has had similar return rat...
Millions of units given to non-technical consumers, all designed with the intent of transmitting and processing massive amounts of data then spewing this out toward some goal... hey, there's no way THAT can go wrong...

"In fact it took two duals to equal the power of the pistol in Halo1"
^^^ Gee, you'd almost think they implemented some sort of "dual wielding" feature for that exact reason.
C'mon, people! Think.
Because it takes real skill to use only the "greatest weapon in the game" continuously in every game.
Skill isn't, for example, NOT using that gun because you think it's cheap, and then killing pistol-users with the other guns. Nooo... that's not skill at all.
;)
Come to think of it...
Playstation doesn't have a strong RPG?
What kind of world are we living in!?
360's about to crush the RPG market with titles from Blue Dragon to Mass Effect and Fable 2- where the heck is Playstation?
Buying a whole new console when all you need is the hard drive? Stupid.
That's not new.
The Eltie is intended for new customers who want the maximum experience. (or absolute hardcore videophiles who have cash to blow)

wtf?
I think this is the nail in the coffin- Sony deserves to go bankrupt on the idiocy of their PR division alone. Screw their hardware, screw their software, this crap is just unacceptable.
EDIT: And I love how there's no similar justification for the virtually nude breasts at the event (bodypaint only...
I stopped reading at:
"Killzone to exceed expectations?"
Insert rant.
The point that everyone, including me, missed:
WHAT ABOUT *NEW* CUSTOMERS!?
With the 120GB ahrd drive coming out, you had two non-good options:
-Get a Core, and have only a wired controller, than add the 120GB.
-Or get a Pro with a wireless controller, toss the 20GB drive, then add the 120.
Neither of those is really satisfactory. Micosoft needed a new SKU to cover consumers who would want a new console with the big HD. Then, after deciding t...
I'm a fat gamer.
Doesn't necessarily mean I want more games with fat people in them.
Heh.
Saying fanboys are JUST a problem is like saying it's wrong to root for a sports team. Sure, it'd be nice if everyone care more about the league as a whole... but that's not really gonna happen.
It's the absolutely blind consumers who refuse to admit any faults at all in their chosen side. I'm a Microsoft fanboy, that's no surprise. But I think Microsoft's making a huge mistake not keeping J Allard in the spotlight (where the hell is he?) as one quick example. Sure, I argue aga...
"6 - The constant putting down of the customer."
^That's worth an article by itself, and it's why I've always had a problem with Playstation. From the beginning, Sony tried to posture that it was the only kid in town and the BS steadily grew. "PS2 will deliver Toy Story graphics" set a new bar four outright lies, and Jack Tretton's "people will buy the system without games" comments are legendary for sheer lack of respect for the consumer.
...
This game has had several public demos, since all of you seem to have missed it. And the word from each of them is that the game lives up to or beats the hype in its current. And yes, the Xbox Live beta is coming soon as well.
Like Risk? Errr... there are comparisons.
Imagine if Risk had no set world map, and instead you played tiles each turn that built the map as the game progressed. And instead of large armies, you're more worried about improving conditions for a very few units ("Settlers").
And that's be a very rough conception of Catan.
Pretty much every console gamer I know this generation owns both the Wii and their "primary" console. Saying the Wii hurts the console industry is (sort of) like saying that the Honda Civic hurts Porsche. People buy a Porsche because they want a Porsche, and people buy a Civic because it's a decent little family car. They can co-exist without harming each other.
Random things to throw out:
1) How many times has it been said- Not many people need 120GB or HDMI. This was always supposed to be a console for only the most hardcore- of COURSE they're the only ones buying it. That's the whole idea.
2) Oh no, the console isn't selling out instantly after (11? more?) million units have been sold. Whoda thunkit?
3) It costs more, and adds zero functionality for 90+% of people. The Pro should remain the top-seller.
It's a gr...
lol wth?
I bet there's even a message onscreen that says "do not turn off" or whatever, these idiots mess it up, then wonder why there's a problem.
Up next: Taking a bath and tossing your 360 into the water is a bad idea too. As is dropping your 360 from the top of a building, using super-speed to run down the stairs, then allowing your system to bash you in the head.
