What did i say when this news was first posted? Upscaling to 1080p for PS1 and PS2 games, very, very doubtful! Was i right or was i right?:) Seriously though, i didn't expect them to achieve 1080i either, so i'm very pleased about this news. You notice they are gonna be a little selective with what games get the treatment as well, but overall this is very positive for Sony and PS3 owners in general.

I think Sony has lost me this generation. With no games as yet, that would make me take a bank loan to buy ps3 and no prospect of a price cut in the near future, i'm sad to conclude Sony really doesn't want to sell to the average gamer anymore.Oh well, the 360 is no slouch and Microsoft seem to be keen to give me what i want.Still, PS3 would have been nice.

Firstly with reference to your numbers(powers of 2) Yes in an purely 'educational way' it may be used to represent the available values of binary zeros and ones and therefore the available combinations , but that really doesn't translate to how a CPU is used or programmed. And your quote actually proves my point about a real 64 bit systems as opposed to a quoted 64 bit. You say 64 bit is better, because it can address more memory. Yes in theory,it can, potentially larger address range, but on...

Those numbers are just 2 raised to a power, thats nothing to do with 32,64 or 128 bit CPUs', but i'm sure you know that anyway.

Hold on there, whats with the 'SIR'.Judging by the intelligence level of some of these posts, there's a fair chance its the DOG thats making the posts! :)

but only ,because value and customer satisfaction have NEVER been on Sony's, must do list :)

Hoorah, some good news from Sony. Many were talking of PS3 games costing £10 more than 360 games. This levels the playing field a bit,now we just need that price cut and we'll be laughing. I think its already been said, but just to confirm, this price is only the same as most 360 games sell for in the U.K. But hey, its GOOD news for Sony.

If you are gonna replace rumble, which is i guess showing its age, then you need to replace it with something superior.Tilt action is not superior to rumble, its an alternative and a pretty poor one if you ask me.

Confidence or arrogance? You decide.

I agree it would be suicide for Sony to announce a price drop this early on,unless, that is, they have an excuse to do so. I wouldn't be at all surprised if this BC thing is a way for them to introduce a price drop sooner rather than later, but still keep face.I think Sony knows it needs a price drop and this is one possible way they can achieve it.They simply say the price drop is a result of cheaper production costs now they don't have to include all those extra chips.

Many of the comments posted are,in my opinion, extremely insulting and bigoted. There appears to be a lack of intelligence, tolerance and understanding. Many times on xbox live i have heard racist and bigoted comments and have left the game in disgust. The people that use this terminology usually do it to purposely cause offence, but if they are challenged, usually deny it, like many on this site will do.

I don't know whether anyone cares about this or if it matters any more, but just to put the record straight. In order for a machine to be truly a 32, 64, 128 bit system, its not just the CPU that has to be capable of acting internally on that number of bits simultaneously. The external data bus, also has to be the same number of bits wide. Just having a cpu that, internally can manipulate 128 bits at a time, is not the same as a true 128 bit system where the CPU can operate on data 128 bits at ...

At a personal level, there are clearly people who find this disappointing news.On the otherhand, this appears to be quite trivial in terms of its effect on selling consoles.Certainly its not an issue for me, i'm more interested in lack of current PS3 games and initial outlay in order to purchase in the first place.I already know that i will purchase a PS3 at some point,if this helps Sony cut the price, then i will be onboard all the sooner. So, its actually good news for me

Hopefully they will improve the backgrounds a bit graphically and improve the colour pallete. Also, would it hurt to improve the AI and exteeeeend the campaign length by a few dozen hours. Mostly though, i hope they give Dom a dishonourable discharge for being totally incompetent and ship him home out of harms way.

Americans wouldn't stand for it,the French would strike over it, but us brits, well, we just quietly queue and pay for it,then moan about it all the way home. This is not about import duties, its about what the Brits are prepared to put up with as usual.BC isn't a big issue for me, but lack of top class games could be.

B.C and s/w emulation, sure, that nice to have. Spruce up the graphics a bit, hopefully.Support ps1 and ps2 in 1080p,very, very doubtful.Besides if we get decent ps3 games i don't see a need for it. I have both my ps1 and 2 available should i need a nostalgia trip.I'm getting a bit tired of all these features that never actually come to fruition.Yes, i know this is a new story, but do you want to make a bet now? I'm a prospective purchaser of PS3 over here in U.K.(March release) If Sony gives...

Guys, you have to remember we are NOT average or casual gamers, for better or worse we are hardcore and our perception of these things is slightly skewed. I spoke to a couple of real 'casual gamers' today and asked them what they thought. Yes, they both thought they might now buy a 360 as the price was considered reasonable. However one said, although he would buy one it was only ,because there are no Wii's available. £150 pounds seems to be a level that even casual gamers are prepared to ...

Yes. i see your point and you would thing that was obvious logic, wouldn't you? However, as a gamer i'm sure you must have been suckered numerous times,as we all have,by trailers and demos with fantastic graphic promise.Only to then find out, its great to look at, but shyte to play. This is the point myself and Thammer1 appear to agree on.Do you remember Dragons lair, anyone?
