You may have the brain of Steven Hawkins, but it appears you inherited his typing ability too! However, if this news is true, then PS3 should have quite an impressive title on their hands, all credit to the developers. 1080p @60fps ,that will shut me up.
Hope this comes to PS3. I wonder if we will ever get a game like this that can be shared online with 360, ps3 and pc, now that would be great. Can you imagine the carnage? 360 vs ps3 and Pc thrown in for good measure! Logic says its gotta come eventually.
C'mon on now, these 1080p arguments have been going on too long.I personally don't expect to see many 1080p games on either 360 or ps3, its just too demanding on the GPU.One question worth asking in this case however, is why doesn't the super chip that is the 'CELL' enable this game to run 1080p @60fps? I only pose this question, because some people can't see the difference between CPU and GPU power and what it does and doesn't do.And before 360 fans start, upscaling to 1080p is not the same ...
Decent games? still, shouldn't scoff, its FREE!
Hmmm. Can't really argue with your choice of developers ,they are very good. Although i'm not so sure about their coding credentials, but overall, i'm not gonna argue,Touch'e on that one. However,i don't recall Miyamoto or the others you mention making games for multi-core, leading edge sytems either. And i guess this is the crux of the matter.I believe Carmack was trying to make the point that multicore systems are not the best thing for developers, who are used to single core, regardless of plat...
a respected developer, in fact the man can actually code as well. I would like the people who are critising his credentials to name someone who they consider to be a 'good developer'His interview is just confirming what most people with some technology knowledge already know. That is,if you are gonna dump a shiny new multi -core system on devs, that mostly don't have intimiate knowledge of such systems, then the least you can do is provide good tools. And it appears MS is doing that better at t...
I think you make a fair point regarding the specs of the rsx GPU. While its true many people, including myself are quick to comment on its specs and performance, we are at best guessing as to the accuracy of what we say. However, there seems to be a growing consensus of opinion which supports comments made in my previous post. Of course Sony could make us all look fools and publish the specs. If i wanted to stop rumours and prove beyond doubt that the ps3 GPU is superior to its competitors, i t...
I'm afraid it will likely be the latter of your options on the graphics front, but don't be too disappointed,it could turn out to be a decent game this time round.Thats far more important isn't it?
To#33 THE TRUTH First off,MS did make a monumental mistake by not providing a hdd as standard, on that point i agree with you 100%.It can potentially cripple the console as can already be seen. Many of the 360 games suffer from stuttering and other problems associated with loading data on the fly from the dvd drive. i.e Oblivion, GOW e.t.c However, we don't as yet know if the PS3 will use its hdd to load and run games either. And even if it does, then the 20GB variety is not really sufficient ...
Nice to see Jeff's still around doing his stuff.Be interesting to see what he comes up with.
Yeah. I have seen this demo and while its vey good it isn't the blow me away tech that some of us where expecting.Maybe we are just getting spoilt with good graphics these days and are wanting more than the technology can deliver.Either way, as you point out tech demos rarely reflect what we end up seeing on our pc's.A new graphics card every 6 months or so, nah i'll stick to my consoles, thanks.
Lol.Very succinct, if a little harsh. I could have saved myself a bubble if you had posted earlier.
I take your point the service is free, but buy any old pc, connect to the internet and hey presto, you got the same service you get from Sony, also free, but with far more choice in where to download stuff.O.k. you don't have the ps3 games, but hopefully you see my point.Currently, Sony isn't offering anything other than an online store and a loose promise of something else, which they ultimatley won't have control over. You should really be comparing Sony's service to any standard pc service not...
...For every lock there is a key! Cool, very cool.
D.j Here's the problem with your theory. While it is quite possible, even likely Sony will make a great deal of money from their on line store, this will not, unfortunately provide better online multiplayer features to equal XBL and here's why. Microsoft have taken a centralised approach to providing on line multiplayer options and services ,that is to say, they control the servers and consequently can ensure consistent options across all servers. End result, consistent tags, chat features, etc ...
I'm not quite sure where you disagree with me,is it because i think Sony have made a sensible decision to include hdd as standard or because i think their gpu is inferior to the gpu in 360. If its the gpu argument, then let me say this.I'm not an hardware expert or a graphics pro , but there does seem to be a general concensus that the rsx chip, while mostly ok, does seem to suffer from a potential bottleneck in getting data to display. Now, if i'm wrong i'll glady admit to it. Unfortunately So...
Even in the most expensive, well planned, well maintained and secure networks, sh!t happens. Professional networks aim for what is called the 'five nines'(i apologise to people already know this), that is uptime of 99.999%. If you work this out it's something like half an hour unscheduled down time or less a year. So, the down time isn't really the issue, its the fact that the down time affected users of xbl, thats not so good. It doesn't matter how many or to what extend users are affected the...
First off, i hope all you guys regardless of religion;Ms,Sony or Ninty had a good festive season and received lots of gaming goodies to play with. I can see some of you are already back with a vengence raining down your wrath on the infidels that dare to disagree with you.Hmmm.. funny how these thing can be so absolute depending on your brand/religion of choice.Anyway, that'll be business as usual for most posters on this site.O.k another midly interesting article, but nothing really new to a...
I don't wish to be too cynical, but why didn't this guy just give the money to a charity like many people do,they would really put it to good use and maybe make a real difference to someones christmas. I'm sorry , but how will a ps3 reduce homelessness or cruelty to kids. Shame on you, life is anything but a game for many unfortunate people!
Yeah sure, i understand where you are coming from, but they are political issues you mention not technical ones. Afterall the whole of the internet works on one standard, TCP/IP.So technically its not a problem. As for it NEVER happening, well i'm old enough to remember and was invovled with LAN technologies early on.Every company adopted its own version and protocols that where incompatible with every other version.(Novell,Appletalk,ARCn et,LAN manager, the list was huge)In the end however,bus...
