It’s always so heart warming to hear all of the arm chair engineers with their coffee and up bright and early. Ready to champion for the PlayStation brand, y’all are the silent heroes

I think the story needs some better pacing and better writing. I enjoyed learning the lore than I did the actual main story arc the game took us through. Not to mention side quests were very bland, but the DLC’s side quests were much better so I have no doubt they’ve upped that department already.

Otherwise I loved this game and really do hope it comes as early as Feb next year on the 5

By the time Black Ops Cold War comes out, MW is gonna be like 300 GBs lmao

Pretty sure you'll get it in the next Kingdom Hearts game

But the TFLOP difference isn't the only difference there. I really want to know what the arm chair engineers's response is to the fact that the PS5 has a whopping 16 less CUs on the die.

The typical answer is " oh well no one utilizes CUs," when just a look at more state of the art engines proves that wrong. All of which are focused on allowing more lower level API optimizations to allow developers to take that much more advantage of CUs. When it comes to...

@Lost

With less CUs and slower RAM, boosting the GPU doesn't make up the sheer lack of size on the GPU. Its why the Xbox Series X dishes out 12 TFLOPs, while the PS5 does 10.2

How is your SSD gonna compensate for lack of GPU power in comparison?

The SSD is the 5 is really crazy fast but people act like the Series X has some off the shelf SSD. Not to mention the Velocity Architecture

Replying to your other comment. As far as I know SMT is always on for the PS5 CPU so my guess is 3.5 GHz for SMT? Would love to see a source proving the actual number though. Nonetheless, SMT isn’t the tell all, most games do not even utilize it. So having the higher clock speed for single thread calculations was a brilliant move by Microsoft

Xbox's CPU is more powerful, what's there to discuss? Even at max boost the PS5 tops out at 3.5GHz while the Series X runs at 3.8 GHz fixed, it can also run at 3.6 GHz in SMT, I don't think Cerny ever detailed what the SMT speed is on their iteration of the Zen 2. My guess is 3.3-3.2 GHz but I'd love to see what that number is

Its got the content, but something about the gameplay feels really off to me. Not to mention the servers are dog poop, I'm guessing EA didn't anticipate the crowd PS Plus would bring because lag is atrocious in every match

I agree, but 343i as a whole is pretty independent, the decision to keep churning out Halo games is coming from Bonnie Ross and the other studio heads, not really Microsoft forcing them. From what I know the team loves Halo so much they genuinely are passionate about making more of them, wish the leadership would take that plunge though. Maybe at the end of the next-gen

Yes for the most part you are right. And I agree current game engines in particular UE4 and Unity are horrid with workflow in regards to maximizing CU cores. My issue though is that you're seeing state of the art engines like id Tech 7 push CU maximization due to its incredibly impressive low level optimization (Vulkan I believe instead of Open GL) and we are in that era of Ray Tracing and when coding your engine for ray tracing, GI in specific, its intensely dependent on CU cores and the...

I hope the actual console doesn't look like that. I still to this date will never understand their decision to go with a 36 CU GPU when you easily coulda done a 44/ 48 CU GPU and lower the clock frequency to keep the console running cooler while outputting more than the 10.24 TFLOPs of compute.

Cerny says oh yeah we like less CUs and higher clocks cause of ROP optimization and no one takes advantage of all of the CU cores. Thats true for current-gen titles, but next-ge...

Yeah and those are factors as to why they are the leader in console sales. Not to mention a huge part of it also is winning the COD marketing agreement. Snatching that from Xbox was huge and along with Destiny, def made PS the place to be from a social standpoint for shooters

I mean who wins the console wars isn't really opinion lmfao. Who sold the most amount of consoles?

Oh right PS4...so there's your winner

Really not applicable, everyone with any decent knowledge of tech understood the PS3 was FAR ahead of the Xbox 360 in terms of hardware

C9 is def the way to go, but another great option for a stricter budget is the LG B9. You can find the 55inch for like 1100 sometimes even less. I bought a B9 as a house warming gift for my brother for 1050. I was thinking about going C9 but cheapest I found was 1300 and didn't feel like the 250 price difference is worth it

I haven't paid attention to any leaks besides being spoiled by some asshole on here sending me a DM with the title being a character that dies. But I really am now really curious as to what the outrage about the story is, everything shown so far looks amazing

I love how the people of N4G make fun of arm chair engineers who promote the Series X while completely ignoring similar arm chair engineers that claim the PS5 is somehow the more powerful system.

Nonetheless, we all know why Sony is opting for variable rates. They wanna keep the console as quiet and operating as cooly as possible for QOL improvements. This however in no way means it can match Xbox's strengths in GPU size, CPU speed, faster RAM etc
