I'm ignoring 3D all together. I think it is a gimmick and one that literally gives me a headache and I never get headaches.
I hate how Sony is shoving 3D in everyone's face just like Microsoft is shoving Kinect. 3D logos and product placement on everything. I get it, you want me to spend more money to upgrade my 60" Bravia TV I spent thousands of dollars on last year. No thank you.
Gears of War 3 is the only day one purchase I'll be picking up. For the most part I take BladedTech's approach above. Wait a little while and pick up older quality titles at a bargain price.
Outside of Gears 3 I'll get Uncharted 3 day one. Skyrim, Dead Island, Ico, etc... can all wait till at least after the holidays.
I don't get point of buying 3 or 4 new titles at a time. Unless you have no life outside of gaming that is.
The trailer was brilliant and from what I've seen of the game since was the best part about Dead Island. The game itself looks rather boring.
Personally I'm not a fan of either because I am not into online gaming. As long as I have the ability to download games, dlc, demos, etc I'm happy.
With that said I prefer xlive because you get screenshots and demos of all the games. There are so many titles on PSN that I have never heard of so I have to go onto YouTube to find clips to see what the games even look like.
As a long time fan of the Xbox brand and on again off again relationship with Sony I think his comment about "protecting an inferior technology" is more or less true.
I have each slim console sitting under my 60" Sony Bravia and the 360 overall is feeling outdated while the PS3 (to me anyway) feels like it has room to grow from a technological stand point.

Wow, I wasn't expecting that score at all. I was a huge fan of the series and was very dissapointed to see the new direction it had taken. I'm willing to give it a second look now though.
As much as I'm looking forward to finish the Gears trilogy Uncharted 3 will be GOTY for most reviews. I don't see Gears getting any to be honest.
I really enjoyed the Gameplay of Bulletstorm, it's too bad the humor/dialogue had to be so over the top and childish.
I would be lying as a Silent Hill fan to say I've been looking forward to this game because I have not. This box art only reinforces why I am not interested in this title. Silent Hill in name only.

Quality title but quite overblown as well, nowhere near being a GOTY title. I could see UC3 getting it for most lists.
I have a feeling this game will come and go very quickly after the months of hype leading up to the release. I just doesn't look very interesting. As much as I enjoy all things Zombies this game looks like a FPS hack-and-slash with not much variety, depth or polish. The trailer that had nothing to do with the actual gameplay was probably the high point for this title.
Was thinking the same thing, very similar combat feel to NMH indeed.
All in good fun, I did love Uncharted 2 and am looking forward to part 3 but overall looking much more forward to the reboot of Tomb Raider.
They forgot the Uncharted series, the remake of the Tomb Raider series.
I think Gears and Uncharted (the only two games I'm buying to round out 2011) will both be fun but at the end of the day more of the same with some nice grahpics.
The Citadel in ME1 was hands down my favorite part of any game to explore this generation. It was a huge letdown to see it near absent in the second game outside of some very small sections.
Not sure how people can disagree with you for being fine with your current TV. I'm right there with you although the push for 3D means that non-3D sets and players are coming down in price:)
