They can, but depending on the change, it could effect the entire production phase. Pushing back release a little further.
Casual model is probably not going to happen. That would mean developing games for 2 systems. What would the casual system lack, HD, Bluray, PSN?
The reason I said that about the 8000 series comes down to the specs.
http://www.amd.com/us/produ...
If you look at the specs, the high end 8000 series cards are re-brands of the high end 7000 series cards. Nothing different. The low end 8000 series cards are re-brands from even older generations.
They would be selling old hardware ...
Why?
Ok, here is my problem with the rumor. The rumors started saying that this new Titan card would achieve about 85% of the power a 690 has, which a lot more believable than the card being more powerful than a dual GPU that just launched the previous gen.
I can't possible believe the info in it because they mention AMD's HD 8000 series. Which for anyone who follows tech news for computer hardware knows that the HD 8000 series is already available Q1 2013 for OEM parts....
Exactly. I still got a NES, PS1, PS2, Dreamcast, N64 all put away for when I want to go back and play a game.
To me a new generation of consoles means it's time to move on. Sure it's great to play your older games, but I'm sure you didn't buy the latest hardware to stay stuck in the past.
Seems as if people have come to terms with the Wii being a current generation console even though it doesn't output HD.
So given that, I would say the Wii U is a "next" generation console.
Since the Wii U is out, wouldn't it be a "current" gen console? Making the PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii "previous" generation consoles? Thoughts?
It's called GDDR5, it exists for graphics cards.
Netflix has used the PS3 for it's primary test consoles for new features for a while now. Like Snookies12 said, it is the platform used the most for streaming Netflix.
If it works on PS3, I'm sure it will make it's way to 360. Just like the other features that have been implemented since the Apps launch.
I was disappointed by Resident Evil ORC. I didn't have high expectations, but I was hoping for better than what I got.
The PS3 has 512MB of RAM, 256MB for the CPU and 256MB for the GPU.
The Vita has 512MB of system RAM and only 128MB for video RAM. More RAM total, but less video RAM, which is arguably more important for games.
Since they would be rendering the game at a lower resolution I'm sure it could be easily done.
Definitely agree. Within the past week I've seen 3 computer hardware and software companies show off their entry into the home console and portable console market.
Valve, Nvidia, and Razer.
The problem with all three is the price or limitations. Steam box rumored at up to $1,000. The Razer tablet is $1,000 and up with weak hardware. And the Nvidia Shield is basically an Android phone that can stream your PC games to a TV with a major exception, you nee...
Going by sales and sales alone? Today it would be the Wii.
Going by sales growth? The PS3.
Looking at the beginning of the gen it would be 360.
But as a gamer I'm more focused on the games. I feel the PS2 last gen was the best console due to the sheer number of exclusives it had. So for me the PS3 is my choice as of today for the console of this generation for the same reason.
I agree with your first and last point. But everyone knows that piracy is a big problem when it comes to PC gaming and PC software in general.
Which makes console development attractive to these developers. They don't have to worry about mainstream piracy.
Things like Steam definitely help for those who respect the developers and are willing to pay for full games.
I can pirate half of the latest games overnight for my laptop, but I choo...
@Bolts
I'll admit I'm wrong. I double checked and GT5 is running at a sub 1080p native resolution. Still a beautiful game.
But on topic, Wipeout is native 1080p 60fps. There are also a couple downloadable PSN games that support the native 1080p resolution as well.
Btw, not getting the Kool Aid reference if you want to clear that up.
Sony said the PS3 could handle 1080p at 60fps.
A notable mention being Gran Turismo 5, which runs 60fps at 1920x1080p.
Sure it's an example of one game, but at least they didn't lie.
Keep in mind home consoles can afford to have lower spec parts in them. Since developers only need to worry about ONE GPU and CPU combination per console they can squeeze every ounce of power out of that combo.
Versus modern PC developers that have to consider 1,000's of CPU and GPU combinations. A modern day GTX 680 isn't even remotely close to being tapped out since developers don't make the game specifically for that GPU.
So of course the nex...
That's how I feel. It is a decent game with quite a few flaws.
I've seen games like Heavy Rain do a much better job of making your decisions feel like they have some weight.
If I chose to do something in Heavy Rain, I do it. Versus choosing to stay in a certain place in a certain chapter of The Walking Dead and having my decision overthrown by the group.
But with that said it is a refreshing game to play. It deserves the award it g...
Guess the 3DS was a failure to, considering it had a massive price drop in a much shorter time frame.......
Oh wait, the 3DS is selling now. So why wouldn't you think the Vita is going to start selling with a new price?
