They should receive flack for that yes. Just as other developers get criticized for not coming through on all their promises.
However, they did make what appears to be a solid game, that looks good across all platforms. The visuals weren't all they cracked it up to be, but thats what happens when Dev's run their mouth. People build up expectations that can not be met. Sometimes people build up unreachable expectations without the devs help.

Fortunately Sony has drastically reduced the footprint of the OS while still implementing new features that were not available at launch.
I don't think they are doing a bad job, and I'm sure they will reduce the RAM usage further.
$101 to make, how much for labor? How much to ship to retail? Home much to promote? How much for research and development? All adds up.
Its interesting, he'd prefer ergonomically correct thumb sticks, but only one is in a natural position on the 360 game pad. Which creates imbalance.
Its like a trade off. But either way, both thumb sticks work just fine when it comes to keeping a grip, the texture of the dualshock sticks help that aspect.
All comes down to personal preference I guess, and what your used to playing on.
I already read a Wall Street Journal article shortly after Kinects release mentioning the future of the device. MS has already been planning Kinect 2, or whatever you want to call it. It's only natural in a highly competitive market.
Agreed, I wouldn't say there are any "bad" reviews.
I've seen some 7's, mostly 8's and 9's, a few 10's. Very reminiscent of KZ3 and Bulletstorm reviews.
I would only consider the review "bad" if it gave the game like a 6 or lower and had sufficient reason for doing so. 7's with little backup mean nothing, just like 10's with little backup.
In the end its going to be around an 85 or 90 mett...
Agreed,
I don't understand the hate towards linearity. One series that jumps to mind is Killzone. Everyone would always bash it for linearity, but it built story. The newest release actually opened things up a bit, with several parts having more than one path to take.
Crysis seems to have that effect through the majority of the game if not the whole thing, which I think is awesome. I'm definitely going to rent this game, which is an upgrade from n...
I agree starchild, they are different
But the only reason MS doesn't require installs, when some games should have them, like crysis 2, is because every xbox is not equipped with a hard drive.
I have a feeling the install of Crysis 2 would have been mandatory given every Xbox was equipped with a HDD. Much like the PS3 version requires the install.
EDIT: Also consider that developers like the option to offer installs to stabilize a games...
Liking both, haven't played Reach yet, played Halo 3 and Wars. I actually thought Halo Wars was kinda cool, reminded me of End War.
I might pick up Reach, or ask my bro to since its his Xbox. He stopped buying them after Halo 3.
KZ3 is awesome for anyone wondering. Gameplay short, yea, but awesome, hell yeah. Better than repetitive "filler" content to extend the campaign, which I felt was done a bit in KZ2.
I agree that this is an obvious advantage. Just like installing GT5 to my hard drive, made it load faster and run better.
I prefer installing when I get the chance.
There essentially already is the choice.
The hardware/engine/developer decisions leads to the implementation of 3D and the final resolution of a game.
Just because 3D was implemented, doesn't mean 1080 resolution was scrapped. The hardware on the PS3 can support both 1080p and 3D, but it would be difficult to do 1080p and 3D at the same time. Obviously 3D therefore usually leads to a drop in resolution to 720p or another resolution.
But...
Exactly. This is the great thing about Blu Ray, space.
Like KZ3, they can store GB's of the 3D videos on the same disc. I'm sure the same will apply for Uncharted 3.
Either way the 3D piece of the game does not affect the 2D version.
Why would I want to buy a 3D version of a game and a 2D version anyways? 120 dollars to play a game in 3D when I want and 2D when I don't want 3D? Seems a bit ridiculous.
Have to say, that was, well.... interesting I guess to read your opinions. Short read.
The meat of what your saying is not backed up with any evidence, or sound reason for that matter. But it is your opinion, just like the others who made the articles claiming KZ3 is the graphics king. And others who claim Crysis 2 is.
I don't mean to offend, so please don't take it that way. I wouldn't mind talking about both games either through PM to get a ...
Oh I realize that, I am all for building story, which is why I'm not against games that are not sandbox or open world.
I suppose I just have a different view when I hear sandbox.
EDIT: Just looked up the differences, and technically this gameplay is sandbox like, but definitely not open world, as you've said.
I like that there seems to be a fair amount of space and a few path options. But this isn't exactly "sandbox" gameplay. It still has that choreographed feel to it like the developers talked about.
For instance, can you get to the destination point by completely avoiding the boat dock area and taking the streets? Or the bridge in the video? Instead of being in the building, can you go on top of it to fight the helicopter?
When I think Sandbo...
This is good to hear, I liked the game at first, but it honestly didn't feel like a finished game right away.
I played about a year ago, it was alright, but I'm gonna have to pop it back in soon for a change of pace.
I also got the game used day 1, saved $5 because someone returned the game after realizing there was no single player.
Cool, I just wasn't so sure because I never played all the Socoms.
Hennessey,
Based on the framebuffer the 360 can't do HD 3D without employing some kind of "trick". True stereoscopic HD 3D is not capable on the 360.
But with that being said, that doesn't mean good 3D can not be done on the 360.
This feature was cool in the old Socom's. Nice to see it return.
I know, basic business. But its amazing how it can be forgotten at times.
