Email addresses, not that important.
Passwords, if you used the same password for everything, change it on everything else. When PSN is back up Sony already said a password change will be required.
Therefore, nothing to worry about. Relax.
But they have already confirmed the CC information was encrypted.
The other information is not enough to do harm with. It can be found many other places.
Because again we undermine Sony instead of thinking the attack was well thought out. Logical decision.
And I must not be in my right mind, cause I'm going to buy the PS4, probably a year or two after release when the price gets its first drop.
EDIT: Grammar
I know bun, thats what I was saying, but apparently people disagree haha. My bro had to call the bank and MS at the same time to handle the situation of removing his Debit Card info and cancelling the renewal feature.
While I agree with the rest that 3D and Move support isn't something I'd use for Infamous 2, since I don't have a 3D tv. But that does not mean others wouldn't like it.
At the same time I do understand while they are keeping it out and fully support it. Focusing on the main aspects is more important.
Massive fanboy piece lol.
75 million unique users hard to believe? 50 million PS3's and over 60 million PSP's. Really that hard to believe?
It's more or less you just not trusting the info they tell you. That is your choice. If they say they shipped 8 million moves, they shipped it. If they say they sold it, it's sold. You know companies aren't exactly allowed to just falsify information and release it.
Assuming XBL ...
Yea my bro went through a very similar case when he renewed for a buck for the one month.
Apparently you have to remove it from the website, simply deleting it off the console wont suffice.
I don't know but I'm about to Google it to find out....
Emerge,
Funny how we assume its terrible security. What if it was just a well planned out attack from a talented person or group of persons?
I think that seem to be the more likely case, opposed to simply horrible security that took years to breach.
OMG, my home address was not encrypted. God forbid someone had that. /s
Did you miss the part where they said software security was still in place for said table? Yea it was bypassed by the attack, but that information is not enough to do anything with.
Well the latest update on PSN states that all credit card information was encrypted properly.
So clearly those hackers were wrong.
Funny part is Sony just said they properly encrypted credit card information and had both hardware and software security measures in place.
This case will more than likely be thrown out.
EDIT: Check the blog for the info I'm referencing. Or the article dealing with the Q and A on the PS3 page.
6 days.
No reason to fabricate information to make a bad situation seem worse. I've also seen another article on here with a PR expert saying Sony has handled this situation quite well. That's his opinion, but I think he might know a thing or two about how to handle situations like this.
But at least you said might have your credit card information. Others have resorted to saying they definitely have your information.
No company deserves this, neither do the people who trust their info with a company.
(Some) Hackers are a disgrace to society when they do things like this. Worrying millions and effectively tarnishing the reputation of a otherwise very reputable company.
Exactly
People make mistakes, companies are run by people. Granted, we all don't like or forgive mistakes that are made.
Every system is hackable, period. There are people out there that can build it, then there are people out there that can dissect it.
All a company can do in this situation is be proactive, like shutting down the network and rebuilding it.
How many companies have the info you just posted and sell it to market research companies, etc... Where do you think the junk mail comes from?
Now your Credit Card info, thats another story. That is a reason to be worried at the least.
EDIT: Haha, Loner doing his typical agree with himself and disagree with everyone else. If it's not you Loner, I apologize, must be another troll.
Good to see some others are trying to remain optimistic, pessimism just doesn't make me feel good lol.
But I'm sure everyone that is angry would be surprised at how many other companies with their private information sell it or deal with issues such as this one on the hush. AKA pay the people with the info to keep quiet and to turn it over.
I saw someone earlier, either sarcastically or not, complaining that their address was compromised. I thought ...
Maxconsole........
I think that says it all.
Ouch... Well guess I'll be checking my credit card, even though I deleted my info previously.
I recommend everyone else does the same.
Hoping for a speedy recovery.
Now I'm waiting for the articles destined to flood the front pages about "My credit card info was stolen" "Someone bought a new car in my name thanks to PSN", etc...
Technically if your not 18 you can't put your credit card info on PSN.
The other information is easily accessible, minus your password. But if you use the same password for everything, change it. Once PSN is back up Sony already said a password change will be mandatory.
