Agreed, and bubbles for that sir. Every single industry post on here degenerates into Microsoft vs. Sony. It has nothing to do with anything.

At a time when they're laying off folks just like everyone else is, of course this is a lot of money. This is enough to pay 4,506 employees for a year (at $75K salary).

Well it's figuratively a drop in the bucket. To be literally a drop in the bucket Microsoft would have to be using very small amounts of liquid as currency. :)

Well no one would care. It would be just like the last 31 months.

@Mooks:

Well sticking "factual information that is interesting" at the end doesn't make it strong writing or a good article. If I wrote an article about a special exhibit at the zoo and ended it with "60,000 people adopted puppies yesterday, and 40,000 people adopted kittens," it would be just as nonsensical as this.

I'm not familiar enough with the site to know that this is a regular thing for them I guess. Thanks for pointing...

"The Xbox 360 sold 330,000 units to rank third in Mar. U.S. sales, while the PS3 sold 218,000 units to rank No. 4 in the same period."

What does that have to do with anything?

The farmers play on American servers (at least, many of them do. I imagine gold is sold on Chinese servers too). So this won't affect them. More like the addicted players will all go out and get farming jobs so they can keep playing.

I never know whether to push 'Agree' or 'Disagree' with heavy sarcasm. Does Agree mean you're agreeing with the words themselves or does it take sarcasm into account?

Then why comment?

6135d ago 1 agree2 disagreeView comment

Well this article, written today, still just says "More than a million dollars since beta launched late last year." My point is that is not impressive, and is a lousy point for this article to make.

Maybe try reading the article before flaming commenters?

It doesn't really work that way. If Sony increased its advertising budget and/or used it more effectively, they would sell many more games. This would increase their revenue, greatly increasing the amount they can pour into more quality games.

That is debatable and unproveable of course, but it is absolutely flawed thinking to say "by not advertising, they can give those of us who don't need advertising better games!"

Halo 3 sold what, over 8 million ...

I wish people would stop saying "Sony made a million dollars on Home!" Sony is a multibillion dollar company. A million dollars is insignificant revenue... the company makes that in a few minutes. And considering how large and long the development of Home was, and the server equipment required to support it, they have clearly poured millions and millions of dollars into creating it. One million dollars revenue for its first 6 months (though admittedly that number was reported so...

And what, Sony is just out to provide everyone with a good time regardless of losses to themselves? Riiiiiight. Businesses try to make as much money as they can. I don't understand how people fault them for this.

Sony recovers the money they spend on bandwidth just like Microsoft does, they just send bills to the developers of content rather than have the players foot the bill. By recouping bandwidth costs through XBL subscription dues instead, Microsoft encourages small pu...

Yeah I've been wondering how the farmers in WoW get their gold these days. There used to just be handfuls of rogues with chinese-sounding names hanging out at all the most lucrative mob spawns. I used to go to those places just to kill the farmers, always a fun sport. Now that daily quests are the best way to make money, do they have a bunch of characters that they run through 25 dailies with? I never see them just farming mobs anymore.

I disagree. You seem to think soda is only aimed at the under-18 crowd? I think that the young-adult target audience for Killzone are definitely big soda drinkers, and would especially reach for a "high-energy" variety which is how Gamer Fuel is branded. College students and young professionals like me especially would go for something like that.

I was 21 and in college for the Halo 3 Game Fuel's run. I saw it everywhere.

Well a soda tie-in with Killzone 2 would be smart marketing, which I think we've established Sony isn't interested in.

Miley Cyrus is the actress/singer and Hannah Montana is the character she plays on her TV series. Geez, I'm sick of such uninformed posters on n4g. :P

YES! As an addict to both Mountain Dew and World of Warcraft, this product cannot come soon enough. I'll feel like I'm getting my WoW fix at work! :)

The time allowed to answer questions had better be very short. In this age it's going to be super easy to have a laptop in front of you to google answers to these questions. If that's possible, with real prizes on the line EVERYONE is going to be doing it.

300,000 is not a bad number for an MMO 8 months in. But for a game so hyped, and for the strong start it got (didn't it have something like half a million preorder the game when the preorders included beta access?), and considering the constant updates it has received so far, I think its current level is a disappointment for all involved.
