Technically it just proved that the game is hyped. The "over" is subjective.
Indeed, their turnaround has been impressive. Everything people say about Activision now, they were saying about EA 2 years ago. It used to be the bad guy.
I don't know if I'd agree that they can't be matched in quality, but I can't deny that they have shown huge improvement lately.
Have you read his one-word review of Uncharted 2? The word is:
QTE.
My point is that he's a dumbass, haha. These are clearly not intended to be taken seriously as reviews.
Well changing their review score based on something irrelevant to the game like that would be a bigger hit to their credibility than most of the accusations flying on this thread.
Fact is, we'll probably never know whether that leak was real or not. People will pick a side of the debate at random, argue it passionately for about 4 days, then everyone will forget all about it.
I hate the fan sites that assume each possible change would be made in a vacuum, thus destroying the game. They're talking about the next expansion, and they completely rebalance the classes every expansion. Nothing to worry about.
But... scores have been universally high. If high scores on MW2 tell you not to trust a site, by the end of the week are you just never going to read reviews again?
Whenever you see Guy Who Capitalizes Every Word on one of his many accounts (which, you'll notice, are both 4 and 4.1), just add him to your ignore list and move on.
It's called an embargo. Activision provides reviewers with advance copies of the game on the condition that they do not post their reviews until whatever date/time Activision sets (in this case, the moment it launches). The reviewers are not legally bound to respect the embargo, but if they break it Activision will stop sending them review copies of games in the future. This is a pretty standard thing that most publishers do, though a lot of the time the embargo date is a little bit before th...
I think all it proves is that they had an early copy of the game and wrote the review last week. As did most review sites. Activision's embargo held all these reviews until midnight last night, it wasn't because all the reviewers were waiting on their preorders.
Well, actually that should be high praise from such a site because they only review FPS games so they are comparing this against other FPSs. If they give all FPSs high scores, what does that leave to get low scores?
Maybe they disagree that it is sad. I mean, this is one of if not the most intense, hate-filled fanboy battlegrounds on the internet and people keep coming back day after day (guilty myself). Obviously at least some of the people here enjoy it.
I was going to quote some parts of your post and point out the irony of you calling anyone else a "kiddie", but I'm just going to put you on ignore instead.
You gonna keep copying and pasting that ridiculous list on every MW2 review story all week PG? I'll be reporting them as spam, hopefully others will too.
I'd be upset, but the game is already decently lengthy for a game of its type, with lots of replayability. It also sounds like "Zombie Island" doesn't really fit into the main story, which makes it a better fit as quirky DLC.
I worry about its timing though. Is anyone going to care enough to buy Borderlands DLC less than 2 weeks after MW2 releases?
Just because one can't afford luxuries doesn't give them a pass to steal them. Would you say "So why should some one suffer because of their personal financial situation" about someone who stole a Ferrari?
Does "Rumor: _______ Confirmed" strike anyone else as an oxymoron?
Sweet, been wanting some of the achievements that go with leveling up, but I get obliterated by all the people on there who play this game constantly. This makes it feel worth my time (from an achievement whore perspective).
It makes sense to help keep hype up for D3, but still. Blizzard is amazing.
You're not necessarily wrong, but remember that the publishers have much more incentive to spin or stretch the truth than vgchartz does.
