"This won't sell....Square can take every bit of MS's money, but everyone knows 360 gamers rarely buy JRPGs."
Your logic is backwards. This isn't to sell JRPGs to 360 gamers... why would existing 360 gamers buy a console bundle?
This is to try and sell 360s to JRPG gamers. It'll be interesting to see if it works.
Yeah, just a retailer estimate I'm sure.
What boggles my mind is that this took 4 years to complete.
True, but this is the case with almost all print magazine reviews. They have to finalize their content weeks and weeks before the magazines hit newsstands, so they usually have to arrange with publishers to receive early review copies, otherwise the review can't possibly hit the public while anyone still cares. This is true of almost every review in this and other magazines, so you can rest assured they review the game with this in mind.
Woooot, can't wait for this game. Now I just need to figure out how to con my way into the beta.
It's quite possibly just that you'll have to buy an iphone app for this. Not a big deal. I'd pay a flat $10 for this, though I probably would not pay a monthly amount for it if it came to that.
Also, what's with the examiner making a news article about this now? This information was readily available when the community manager made that forum post last week.
I wonder how much this will cost. I'd pay maybe $10 flat price, but probably wouldn't pay a monthly fee for this.
If you look closely, the blizzard rep mentions that this may be a premium service. I'd love to be able to use the auction house from my phone, but I think I'd pay maybe $10 once for it. Probably wouldn't pay monthly.
Don't forget that consoles themselves are often sold at a loss, in order to get them in homes and profit later on games. So really, if console sales go down and game sales stay the same, profit will go up.
Of course, the consoles might be selling at a profit by this point in the generation too, it is hard to know. But it's one possible reason for the negative correlation.
Since when did prematurity stop anyone from speaking in absolutes on N4G? The general consensus, or at least the loudest consensus, at this point last year was that Killzone 2 would be GOTY 2009.
Seriously, you'd be hard pressed to pick two more different games to compare.
IGN gave WarioWare: Smooth Moves an 8.2 and gave Madden 09 an 8.8... who gives a damn?
Keep in mind that NPD does not include Wal-Mart or certain online vendors, or many of the hole-in-the-wall game stores out there. So if NPD lists it at 900K, it has definitely passed a million in the states.
TLDR: Both can be true.
Touché. :)
LFMAO @ all the damage control by the PC and Kindle fanboys!
I kid, I kid. Just thought it was weird that there was no console war in this thread.
I think what he's getting at is that this is by no means news. I agree.
No, it's not a game. Which is why it is interesting to see how VIDEO GAME web sites handle reviewing it.
If you want to be a stickler about the non-game definition, then those guys wouldn't review it at all, for the same reason they don't review books or movies. And really those reviews shouldn't be posted to N4G anyway, as it is not a game.
What exactly is your point? The other things they can do are:
-Release DLC without level cap increases.
-Raise the level cap without adding content.
-Not release DLC or raise the level cap.
Are any of those better?
Oops double.
Well, the gameplay is in 2D. And that's really the important part here.
Considering the game is set for Fall these features are probably pretty set to be in the game. This isn't some pipe dream 2 years in the future like when he's talked about the prior Fable games way in advance.
That's assuming there aren't massive delays of course, which are pretty likely IMO.
