There's no way a full retail release can pop up at this point and be out before Christmas. Nintendo likes its secrecy but not even they cut it that close.
I'm guessing this is going to be a remade classic Mario game for download on Wii.
How do you figure that this is somehow a result of their banning criteria or process? Even if they had distributed 100% irrefutable proof of piracy for every banning, these same people would be hacking back in.
Anyone know how much multiplatform games usually sell on PC? Don't you have to compare it to other games for the 8% to mean anything?
How much did Borderlands sell on PC?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but Steam wouldn't recognize them playing a torrent version would it? I think this article is referring to legal purchases.
I suck at this posting thing.
Anyone know how that compares to other games that release on all 3 platforms? I can't imagine PC sales usually amount to much compared to console sales this generation.
Anyone have stats on how much of Dragon Age sales are PC? Or Borderlands?
That settled it. The console war is officially just an incredibly nerdy spectator sport.
I think I've heard those exact words shouted by Red Sox fans.
Edit: @ above edit - Payback for what? Against whom? Why is it to be celebrated? I just find the video game industry trends/sales really interesting and wish it could be discussed without everyone trying to shout over each other.
Damn I keep double posting today.
I would have expected Uncharted 2 sales to be higher just based on the high number of PS3's sold. If most of those consoles were sold by UC2's release, that means only 200-250K copies were sold to existing PS3 users, which doesn't seem right. What game, if any, are people buying with all these new PS3s?
It's usually the second thursday of the following month.
Surely it isn't all that matters, but it's all there is to talk about. So why harass people for talking about it?
If it's someone accessing your account from another Xbox, then your console shouldn't be banned. If it's someone using your Xbox, you should be keeping them accountable for what they do on your Xbox, or holding them responsible to get you a new one if they get yours banned.
Only in the most outlandish situations would you be in the right here... maybe someone broke into your house and used a key gen on your Xbox? Then you probably have bigger issues to deal with than a banned Xbo...
Argh double post.
Wow's record is between 11 and 12 million subscribers worldwide... doubtful that there were every 2 million online at once. Maybe on expansion release days, haha.
As 5.4 pointed out, many people including myself leave steam on all the time. I'd guess that only 20% of online steam users are actually gaming at any specific time. I know I'm only gaming <5% of the time I'm logged in.
Though as people have pointed out, I believe this article is just about XBL breaking its own record. Comparing it to PC is pretty pointless as it's impossible to measure how many people are PC gaming online.
Of course you talk to the press about the good numbers and not the bad. Would you run your business otherwise?
Yeah those crazy conspiracy theorists suggesting that maybe Microsoft occasionally earns its accolades need to take off their tinfoil hats...
Maybe that type of game needs to be measured differently then. How "long" is Monopoly? Or Risk?
Maybe it's just because I was an economics major, but this is usually how I approach a game's value. For MW2, it really comes down to how much you enjoy the multiplayer.
If you just play single player, $60/4hrs = $15 per hour. Even say you play through certain levels multiple times for achievements/trophies, you're looking at probably $6/hr. Not a great deal compared to comparable game options out there.
The multiplayer however is great, and I along with many others ...
There were no unlocks in Street Fighter IV either, unless I'm mistaken. So this is pretty much what is expected from Super SF4.
