But it's not a monopoly when there are several players in the game.

Show me one industry where this doesn't happen?! It's called an oligopoly. Pretty much every industry in the US operates in this manner. The Auto industry, media, food companies, insurance, medical etc etc etc. They're all oligopolies. It's usually three or four companies that run everything. Gaming is no different. It has become too big an industry to not have this happen.

The last 20-25 years was the Golden era of gaming. It was a time when major advancem...

I think it's more likely that EA acquires another company then EA being acquired. Also with all those sports games and licenses even if they were bought out by one company or the other, the licensees would require them to put their games on all the systems available. That's why we are seeing stuff like MLB The show come out on Xbox and switch.

Sega was already bought out by Sammy. It's not even Sega anymore it's Sammy-Sega. Japanese companies are notoriously independent so I can't see many of them accepting any buyouts by either company.

😂, a fart in the wind! Sony would have to buy Square Enix and Take 2 or EA to compete with Microsoft's purchase of Activision, that's how much of an impact that one acquisition has. Time will tell if they overpaid for Bungie, but I certainly think they did. As much as I love Halo, Bungie hasn't made anything on par with 90% of Sony's first party games. Destiny is very meh, and what else do they have? A 20 year old game called Oni that nobody remembers cuz it wasn't...

I'm willing to bet it's their big 2023 release. Once they see the declining number of players who are purchasing GTA v on PS5 and series X they're going to want to release it sooner. I'll give them a year with GTA v on the new consoles they can't really push it too much more than that.

Now imagine how far along they'd be if they would have used resources from the GTA 5 port to current gen (Series X/PS5) on GTA 6 instead. I mean really, who asked for it to be ported to another generation of consoles?!

I'm a few hours in on Series X and so far so good! No glitches and I'm absolutely loving it. This game is a blast to play, looks great, and I don't care what anyone says about the story, it's good so far. I'm inclined to agree more with the Game Informer review at this point.

@exterminator

It was the same on Xbox one. You didn't just have to be online only for all the games. Some, like Titanfall, were only online, but most games could be played offline too, I did so quite often. It was that fake narrative that did the Xbox one in from the start and now it is completely normal for games to be online only experiences on both systems.

It's funny that people called Xbox launch a failure. It was actually a good launch, it was the subsequent years and lack of big 1st party exclusives along with the TV TV TV and always online narrative that made it look worse than it was. Look around you. EVERYTHING that Microsoft tried to do with Xbox one from the start is just part of gaming now on Playstation and Xbox. Always online. Persistent worlds. Free 2play. Digital only consoles. Heavy focus on tv and movies. All of these are Sta...

Your arguments are flawed. I still buy a shit ton of games. Gamepass allows me to try games I would never try. This causes me to spend more time gaming and therefore more money on games than I would otherwise. When I really like a game, I buy regardless of it's on gamepass. I just get the benefit of playing it first on GP to see if I like it, then get it when it hits a price I like.

Instead of fearing what you don't know, try it and you will be amazed at the quality of...

So you'd rather wait an additional year or 2 for each and every game like Nintendo and still have to deal with glitches? I waited 5 years for Zelda BotW and that thing still had tons of bugs. If you wanted games with no bugs nothing would ever come out on time. It's just the nature of the beast now with these huge, complex worlds.

Dang these PlayStation trolls are out and about now lol can't you all just be happy for the man and shut up already? It's a goddamn business and if you don't think Sony bought their way to success then you either are delusional or you started gaming this or last gen. He's worked wonders with the Xbox brand. Xbox came from nowhere to be the behemoth they are in gaming. The Xbox almost didn't even get made, yet here it is prosperous and making tons of money for decades now. ...

Very proud of Nintendo to bounce back after the Wii U! Their stock price was $13 during the Wii u and they are up to $60 now. I look at that system as a prototype Switch. It allowed them to figure out HD development and get some good software out that could easily be ported to the Switch. I loved that they went back to cart format too. I wasn't happy that most of the good switch games were ports of those great Wii U games, but it made a lot of sense financially and now I'm hopeful the...

That guy gives everything a 7. It's like he's just bored with games and everything is just "ok" to him.

From all the reviews I've read, If you liked Dying Light, part 2 will give you more of the same but much better. That's all I asked for!

1595d ago 1 agree0 disagreeView comment

Lol... No. Gameplay is king. I loved the first one and the story wasn't anything special. Reviews are becoming less reliable with every new release.

It does seem crazy they spent so much on Bungie but they got Insomniac for what, $200 Mill? That's crazy to me. Insomniac was a steal comparitively. I really don't see how Bungie was worth that much.

I'm curious what this does to the rest of their lineup. They've clearly got a new direction with wanting to put 10 of these in 4 years! That seems like a lot.

My how the tides have turned. Now MS owns a ton of studios that will be putting out alot of SP games over the next several years and then Sony suddenly decides to devote a ton of resources to the live service games that so many of their fans seem to despise?! What the hell is going on?!?!
