Sounds like a whole lotta lip service. They milked the hell out of GTA online then gave us shit ports of the GTA trilogy. Mafia got better remake treatment than their best selling franchise? Take 2 can and should do better.

A 2024 Switch 2 with BotW 2 and MK9 at launch would be pretty epic 😳 Whatever they do it needs to play all Switch games seamlessly out of the box. There is no excuse anymore.

I usually hate this kind of milking, but MK8 is still great so I'm not going to complain about 48 new tracks! I am ready for the inevitable MK9, but can definitely squeeze this fruit a bit more until it's ready. My family still plays this together fairly often.

Wow I honestly didn't know they had content exclusivity like that for that long on Xbox. I knew that the Xbox 360 was the first time Call of Duty appeared on consoles, but didn't know the DLC packs on the other CoD games was exclusive to Xbox all the way thru Ghosts.

But regardless, Sony took that exclusivity from them and started doing it to everything in the PS4 gen! I don't recall many 3rd party games that didn't have some sort of exclusive mission or cha...

We did because we expected them to honor the legacy of these games! I was going to buy day 1 but once I saw San Andreas was coming to Gamepass I decided to wait on a purchase. Now it's a pass, I'll wait for GTA 6 thanks.

It does feel a little bit gross with how there were treated... It's just business but it kinda felt personal. These three games deserved better. They gave Mafia a full on remake but bastardized their biggest franchise in this manner 😧🤦

Sounds like they initially bit off a bit more than they could chew. Now they've had some time to learn with the newer consoles out, they must feel confident they can pull it together. They mention the online features, which these live service games were a new thing when they were working on it. I wouldnt be surprised to see it resurrected at some point.

Nintendo and Sony have more market share than Microsoft. They also don't have a presence in mobile games market, which this deal gives them. They were also lacking really any presence in mass market casual gaming. This checks that box significantly.

The sad thing is that Sony kind of started this war by making some CoD content exclusive to PlayStation. Those fans cheered that move. Now that roles reversed those same people are up in arms. It's business, not persona...

Yeah I get that. I've just heard tons of gamers argue that these live service games are killing the industry, so I'm curious if people actually get hyped about these type of games. Particularly on Playstation where there's more of an expectation that games will be playable offline. There's a narrative that Sony wouldn't go down this path and it was heavily rebuked when MS tried to do it last gen. Yet here we are and seeing Sony head this route more and more, we are startin...

Can't stand GTA online. Worst thing to happen to GTA ever. They traded the dlc story model for that crap?! Shameful.

Do people get excited about always online games that can't be played offline?! How many of these do we really need?

You ever worked in retail?! This is always on sale for $15-$20, so yes it sells. But stores buy their stock based on a number of factors. If take 2 offers a company 10 million copies for $5 a pop they're buying them in much more quantity than a new title for $30-$40 each.

@ Atticus

"So you expect Sony to let the competition buy the industry and not do anything."

No not at all. I don't expect them to not do anything. The only thing they have to do is keep making great games, those things sell themselves! There's a reason they only had to buy a couple of studios here and there and not entire companies: they make the best games. Everyone who actually plays both knows that. But those games seem to be getting ...

As much as I love BotW, I thought Horizon Zero Dawn outclassed it in every meaningful way. Zelda had it's Hyrule lore, but HZD just did so many things better, except environmental traversal, which seems to be a big upgrade in Forbidden West. I think HFW will become the new standard in open world games.

Regardless of anything, the more we all argue about this stuff the more we're going to realize that everything is a copy of a copy of a copy. Aka, no idea is origina...

But I thought PlayStation fans only liked organic growth?! No way they buy Take 2. If anybody buys Take 2 it's Amazon, Google, Tencent, or Microsoft. And Take 2 has no reason to sell, like Activision did. Microsoft can actually clean up the workplace mess at Activision, which is pretty much the only reason they sold. Heat was getting to be too.much.

160 mill shipped, I bet there are at least 30 million of those still on store shelves, I see tons of copies in every store. Still crazy though. No wonder they haven't wanted to talk about GTA 6 yet. They've been milking this cow for 3 generations now!

The question I have is how much are they going to be able to sell the X/PS5 version for? I can't see many people paying full price.

I never saw it marketed as that, but it pretty much is just that. It's all about optimization. It wasn't that long ago that 1080p and 60 FPS was a pipe dream. Now it's not good enough. This is the problem when spec chasing happens. It's never going to be good enough when you're always chasing cutting edge specs. Pretty soon 4k 120 won't be good enough cuz we'll have 8k 120 with full Ray tracing etc etc. Then repeat ad nauseam. Series S is a damn fine system, the on...

@Hiawa

I never buy games on day 1 anymore, but I loved Dying Light so I splurged. It's a huge and great game so far. I don't think you can really get much out of a rental with this type of game. I'm like 15 hours in and barely scratching the surface. To each their own, but I think this thing is an easy purchase if you like this kind of game. Imagine Dying Light 1 with a bit of Assassin's Creed, Far Cry and Breath of the Wild thrown in. I'm loving it!

Not even close. Troll harder. The S is great for the price. It's not janky at all. It's a peppy little box that has a surprising amount of power for the cost!

Being an owner of X1X and a Series S, I can honestly say the Series S is still a better system. Sure the X1X has more RAM but it's still an Xbox One. I started out paying AC Valhalla on 1X, then got my Series S. Playing Valhalla on the S after the 1X was a revelation! I was finally able to grab a series X a couple of months later but the Series S is a seriously good system and a significant upgrade from the X1X, and is truly a part of this current generation, despite the narrative. Cyberp...
