yeah I know what you mean. But the helmet in the first screen is certainly showing a difference in the bloom.
The general white-washed look on the 360 is obviously image manipulation or them not bothering to adjust for different capture methods. (loads of sites do that to deliberately make the ps3 look worse, I think they are doing it out of spite because the 360 is unpopular in eu/germany etc)

The colouring and bloom looks nicer on the ps3 version (not entirely sure why because the 360 would have no problem handling it at all)
Bioware need some better graphics programmers, really. (mass effect only looks good because it is in the unreal engine, duh)

I have seen a lot of gaming on ps3, 360 and PC.
I own a 360 and since I built my PC in 2008 the only time I even touched my 360 was to play ODST and Reach.
I built my flatmate a PC in 2009, he has a PS3. The only time he even touched his PS3 since then was to play GT5.
We have a wii in the kitchen that is played nearly all day!

uh wait hang on... what are M$ going to do next gen with Halo washed up? Halo is what brought both xboxes to fruition. Also it won't have Blu-ray because the license is owned by competitors. And with games being around 50GB or so, they are too big to download for most people.

unreal's next gen demo was running on pc .(probably at about 10 fps, but a new generation of gpus are coming out which will make a big improvement - probably not affordable to have it at > 30fps this year though, but maby next)

it doesn't look particularly good, it has a nice realism to the lighting which is refreshing caus a lot of games go over the top. In no way are those screenshots showing "the power of the playstation 3" at all, maby in a big open environment that can be shown.

reason? they can't fit proper games onto a dvd any more, their way around this is making gimmicky games that they hope the huge casual market will buy into so they can cut their losses over the next few years while they make a console that has a storage medium big enough for some actual content (something that core gamers are generally interested in, if you havn't forgotten)

sony already had a design with the ps 1 controller and when they added the analogue sticks they didn't want to change what people were used to.
when microsoft came to town, they realised the analogue stick was more important so they moved it to the primary location

the 360 controller is really great though - the way it sits in your hands. for some reason though, every 360 controller I have owned has had a loose battery pack/connector, I have to stuff a little bit of folded paper in to keep it from cutting out randomly :@ - and I mean from day 1, not after dropping them or anything

I played the free roam mostly because the other modes were badly handled, especially the "maps" you had to play in
so many other developers' "first effort"s were far superior, which is odd considering rockstar have probably the biggest resource pool out of all the world's developers

make sure you build it or get a friend to build it though ^_^ (if u wern't considering that already :P)
save a little cash and get a better machine in the process, go on overclock.net and post your budget and considerations - might want to wait for the new generation of graphics chips though because prices will drop and performance will skyrocket.
Also, it will last nicely through the first half of the DX11 generation (2-3 years or so) until the next gen ...

But anyway, no. The reason PC is better is because of dedicated servers, modding & mouse+kbd.
Graphics are really a non-factor to me, in the end I just want to play the game properly.
Anyway, PC gaming is in fact the cheapest as long as you buy smart (ie. don't buy from a nooby high-street retailer because they sell you an overkill CPU and an incapable graphics card for twice the price it should be).
