Bullcrap; OnLive only needs about 3Mbps to 9Mbps (peak).
Looks good, but I will NOT buy it without a demo - I don't trust any game these days until I've tried it because so many have broken mouse controls or other broken things that make it unenjoyable.
Yeah. Farcry had good gameplay but Crysis 1's gameplay sucked and so will Crysis 2's by the looks of things.
Same goes for most games. I would actually say Halo & Half Life games handle gameplay the best when it comes down to single player level design & progression.
If Crysis 2 becomes a good graphical benchmark like the first then I'll get it for that when I next upgrade my PC. I wasn't in the slightest bit impressed by the demo (sni...
WhiteNoise understands.
Tessellation is the core reason why the samaritan demo looks so good, it is also heavily used in battlefield 3 and the witcher 2. The 3 best looking gameplay graphics examples around.
@syaz1
The 360 has to tessellate on the same graphics cores as the other vertex and pixel shaders (it uses a unified architecture) so it limits how much power there can be available for other graphical effects. The ps3's cpu is particularly go...
Point totally missed by the author.
Yeah, of course it was leaked.
But they are going to get more actual sales now because the people paying for it it can actually play the game this time.
The last 2 sold horribly on PC, brotherhood will sell better.
they need a wii for that, duh
Blu-ray = slower than DVD
Hard drive = much faster than DVD
HDD installs are a good thing.
Hence why PC games also have a mandatory install (also because data to be HDD installed can be compressed better than data to be realtime streamed from a DVD, hence PC dvd = 12GB vs xbox DVD = 7.3GB). The 360 install is different because it saves a binary rip of the disk onto the HDD which may or may not be faster (like with Halo 3, it's slower).

"The budgets and marketing money given to COD, will with out doubt in some way harm competitors and maybe even other Activision games"
this ^
But anyway. I wish the bullets would actually work in Battlefield :/ half of them don't even seem to make it to the server/host but in CoD, Halo & counter strike they always work. (and obviously I am not just spraying)
BF3 will be amazing but will it still have loads of small bugs like...
rocket noob! :O
The ps3 images on there look like they have the contrast lowered and they may have been upscaled from a lower rendering res. Why are the images on lens of truth scaled down anyway? They should allow viewing in 720p for a proper comparison (because that is what HDMI would be transmitting to the capture device or TV).
I will have to try the ps3 demo myself to properly decide. (and maby actually stand in the same location)
Either way it won't concern me beca...
".. the new Team Deathmatch mode..."
Team Deathmatch is new? Wow they are really stepping up the game this time!
edit, oops massive wall of text :(
The next gen of consoles will probably have that much power (to pump out graphics as seen in epic's demo) if they are out in 2 or more years.
If I am not mistaken, that demo was run on a triple SLI 580GTX PC. When the 360 & PS3 came out they had a graphics chip equivalent to the best graphics chip around in PCs at the time with a few beneficial tweaks (like the 360's edram and ati xenos gpu with extra shader core...
Needs exclusive (or first launch platform) gta, final fantasy, tekken and mgs. Games are the most important thing, and the games I like the best have gone multi plat when they should be Blu-ray only so they don't have to be dumbed down (maby tekken doesn't need Blu-ray as it is a fighting game but still).
Even though the ps3 "only does everything", the most important thing by far is the games. Most of what this article talks about is just extra fluff.
Were the phats not loss leading?
I understand that slim is a different story but they were released after Linux support was removed.
Well, whatever.
The point I made was that the problem was Activison's change of mind.
Otherwise 2, 4 and 5 would have been junk too. But they were fantastic games on consoles and had everything that a PC game should have on PC.
There are better examples of console ports ruining a series than CoD (Crysis and BF being good examples of course) but it is the one everybody jumps to instantly even though it proves the rule incorrect.
Of course the 570 is better. But if you already had a 5850 why would you upgrade to a 570 and not just wait for the next gen of cards?
hence, pointless upgrade :P
I wouldn't call it a conspiracy. But the whole thing is getting blown out of proportion.
The bottom line is: reverse engineering software is illegal. Reverse engineering hardware is not. Because you own the hardware that you buy but the software on that hardware is owned by Sony, effectively.
Sony are using that legal divide to try to prevent rampant piracy and because they lose money from every ps3 that is sold - so they want people to play games on it n...
Yeah.
Or halo 10 or farcry instincts 10.
Max sensitivity all the way on consoles ftw :D
(make use of that analogue stick, so many people jam it all the way across with their nooby sensitivity 3/10 lol)
er.. "The graphics of the PS3 are far better than the Xbox 360". Not exactly _far_ better, but: the RSX chip is far worse than the xenos in the 360 - but the PS3's incredible CPU horsepower means it can do some graphics-related calculations on the CPU (because the cell can compute floating point very well which is unusual for a CPU when you compare it to a GPU). That's all very well and good, but the game and it's engine have to be designed with that in mind which isn...
