I'm an older gamer - mid 30's...been gaming since the Atari 2600 and owned most systems through the years and ALL Nintendo systems - save handhelds - though I currently own a DS Lite.
I'm wondering if this has something to do with our perceptions. I consider myself hardcore - play everyday, own multiple consoles etc, but my tastes are changing. For example, I was 5 minutes into the Blue Dragon demo before I turned it off. I played Smash Bros on the 'Cube this past weekend wi...
First: The new Skyline? Are you kidding me! <Drool...> simply perfection. Sleek, muscular stance...brilliant
Second: Never mind, I'm almost speechless - to say the game looks amazing would almost be an insult - I've never seen anything so real before.
I'm blown away.
Perhaps this "rumor" was leaked to create a panic and sell consoles and it actually is not true...Sneaky, but possible.
Its another to make it more than a gimmick - the board has potential, but we'll see how it is actually implemented into gameplay.
I remain somewhat skeptical...
Sony needed to show they had games coming down the pipe - and they exceeded my expectations in that regard. Securing UT3 as a timed exclusive - nice move. And the price drop(if it sticks and the 60G is not going bye-bye according to other news) is fantastic. I always thought I'd get a PS3 eventually, Sony made me want one NOW.
Sony grade: A-
Microsoft has a great, and I mean great fall coming and they chose to focus on those games that we will play this year. ...
This is why it is a 10 year console - it is going to take it 10 years to get to a mass market price...
I just can't believe this would be true. I'm not a business man, but it just doesn't make any sense to me.
My local BB had 15 PS3s and were sold out of Premium 360s - only 2 Elites sitting on the shelf.
I also saw PS3s and Wiis at two separate Wal-Marts, and GameStop and more PS3s at a Circuit City and another BB closer to where I work...
So, yes they are selling more, but I don't see a mad rush that is going to cause a shortage.
Just a dose of reality people - I want a PS3 myself, but I'm gonna wait until some of the upcoming incredible-looking games a...
They offered new stuff - like Infamous and a KillZone trailer and MGS4 gameplay video.
MS did well - Mass Effect in November - finally! Halo 3 looked great, but there were no new games announced - just more of what we know is coming - though what is coming is REAL good - Too Human looks incredible.
Nintendo - I dunno - maybe I've just out grown the big 'N'. I'll get the Zelda for my DS and Ninja Gaiden, but I don't ever see myself getting a Wii...
I own and like Crackdown a lot. It is a blast to play - very cartoony - a great way to blow off steam and just mess around.
Infamous seems to have mood - and story. Your character is not some generic supercop, but a dynamic personality, and it sounds like actions have consequences - they don't in Crackdown. If you run people over, the cops will shoot at you, but just escape and soon they are cool again...
I'm going to get a PS3, and I'm going to get this game....
It will happen the week before Thanksgiving.
That gives the console two months after Halo 3 at its current price - Halo 3 will move consoles - especially the new Halo 360 sku, and then drop in price just in time for prime holiday shopping.
Man I'm tired of being right!
So Sony is keeping one of its greatest properties exclusive. That's great, but every console and PC has great exclusives...and here's the rub!
If a 360 owner really wanted to - he could go buy a PS3 and play MGS4! Shhhh! Don't tell anyone! Its a well kept secret - the fact that people can own mutiple consoles.
It is expensive, but you can wait until the prices really drop. Will not the single-player MGS4 play just as well three years after release? I though...
And I agree - that's why I'm excited about the Mass Effects, Alan Wakes, Drake's Fortune...heck even the COD people knew to cut it with the WWII genre!
You guys are right - we need to support - i.e. BUY good new IPs.
I own a 360 - love it, but being a gamer and not a fanboy, I've been looking at the other systems.
Sony's E3 performance blew me away and solidified my desire to purchase a PS3 - hopefully by the time MGS4 comes out.
Nintendo's performance made me less likely to buy the console - ever - even after 5 years when it is really cheap. I'm not saying that couldn't change; its where I'm at right now.
Sony had to make it worthwhile - financially for Epic to spend extra time and resources to make the UnReal engine PS3 friendly.
From what I understand, it was just a matter of the Cell and the UnReal engine being kind of incompatible - since the engine was built for the PC - and the 360 is similar.
That's nothing against the Cell - its just different architecture - so adjustments needed to be made. Sony made a smart move. If anyone can get the PS3 showing more ...
It looks like a serious, darker version of Crackdown - on steroids...I mean that in the best possible way - the game looks fantastic!
I want a PS3 NOW!!!!
To truly enjoy the all the best games each generation has to offer, you must own multiple consoles. Its as simple as that.
A great game will be a great game 6 months later. Plus sometimes the later verion gets more stuff - extra maps, more tweaking etc.
For example, the PS3 is getting free content for R6:Vegas that I paid for on LIVE(though it became free last week or so on LIVE)
And its not like both systems don't have tons of games to play anyway...
"Uh, boss, I need to fly to Montreal to get some info on Assassin's Creed."
"Can't you just do a phone interview and have them send you screenshots?"
"No! I have a date...uh...I mean an interview with the producer..."
"And who's that?"
"Uh...Jade Raymond."
"Hmmmm..." Does a google search - sees a picture. "Tell you what - you stay here and review Strawber...
Downloading commencing!
My prediction was Thanksgiving...
But dropping it in August would help secure the GTA crowd who buy a console just to play GTA - and there are a lot out there!
Adding a memory unit to the core is a VERY smart move - should have been done sooner. I was irritated that a memory card was not included in PS1/PS2 - because it is a necessary piece of hardware and adds to the actual price of the console.
At any rate, things are becoming increasingly inter...
