I didn't know that about the PS3. I apologize for my error.
These things can be kinda confusing - especially for the average consumer who doesn't read forums and just looks at the packaging to get his/her info!
that BioShock 2 would have any exclusivity. I don't think it would be in the interest of 2K to do an exclusive deal at this point given the success of the IP.
BioShock 2 is guaranteed to sell.
With Bioshock one, the deal with MS gave 2K some dough as insurance in case the game for whatever reason didn't do well at retail (because there have been great critically acclaimed games that fail to move off store shelves).
And I've been blessed (a curse to my wallet) that I like many genres.
So bring on Gears 2, Killzone 2, Fable 2, Resistance 2...lot of sequels!...Infamous, Halo Wars, Forza 3, GT5, MGS4...I could go on...oh, wait - GOD OF WAR 3!!!! (And there are a bunch of cross-platforms also - FFXIII, RE5 and Fallout 3, anyone?)
Anyone in their right mind has to acknowledge that great games are found on BOTH systems.
The game mechanics - control, combat, enemy AI etc are all fantastic and equal to any shooter out there, but its the environments, the mood, the story, the creepiness and sense of loss - its somewhat twisted, but also sad.
The versatility in gameplay with choices in weapon upgrades and plasmids...you really feel you have a choice in how you survive.
All of this has made me want to play it again!
game content cannot be install on a separate HD like on the PS3. MS makes you buy THEIR HD for game content. I applaud Sony's move to allow separate HDs.
I had a knot in my stomach as I purchased the 120G HD for the 360 even though I got in on the Amazon deal recently - it was still far too expensive compared to external PC HDs that are PS3 compatible.
I guess every console has its benefits and its weaknesses.
as a 360 owner (and soon to be PS3 owner also), I'm glad my PS3-only bros and sisters get to enjoy this amazing game - reserve it now. It is brilliant. 'Nuff said.
is that it does not create a sense of urgency to buy it NOW. People may be willing to wait for lower prices.
Personally, I'm picking one up this Christmas - the 80G with Dual Shock, but those like me who already have a 360 can wait a few years, get it when its cheap and get the current great games at a "Greatest Hits" price. MGS4 will still be an amazing game 3 years from now.
Yes the new 80G sytem coming out this fall is a fantastic value, but it is ...
I did upgrade to a 120G HD, but I doubt I could have my entire game collection on my HD. I'd probably keep the LIVE games I frequently play on the HD, and delete SP games once I've beaten them(I could always just play it unloaded again if I wanted).
The other thing, and this is only a question, so please don't flame, could this move make MGS4 possible on the 360?
but with Fable 2, Gears 2, Saving for a PS3 for Christmas, Fallout 3 and a few others, my cash is already spent.
I might pick it up when it becomes a Platinum Hit.
Yeah - you can't criticize Nintendo from a business standpoint. After last gen, they were facing a dire future with the console side of their business. They had to do something, and they did (and have been VERY successful).
I don't feel "betrayed" like some have said. Nintendo took a new direction, and my gaming tastes changed as I got older - preferring what is being put out on the PS3 and 360.
have never heard of E3, and could care less about it. They buy games based on box art. They don't read reviews, and most have never played Zelda or Mario. I work at a school, and many of the women and old teachers have/want Wii. Why? They tried the bowling game at someone's house and want it for themselves. They will buy very few if any additional titles for the system.
Nintendo has succeeded in attracting the non-gamer and are trying to keep the die-hard Nintendo fanboy ...
A dualshock included. I would have picked up a MGS4 PS3 - actually saw 3 at Wal-Mart the other day - but I don't have the money saved up just yet.
Looks like it will a PS3 and Resistance 2 Christmas! (Along with Gears 2 and Fable 2 for my 360)
What a time to be a gamer!
I upgraded to a 120G HD (got the Amazon deal a while back). I now have PLENTY of space.
Anything to turn down the blender sound of my 360. When I hear whirring like that, there had better be a frozen margarita involved!(extra salt please!)
He's bitter because Jade Raymond wouldn't give him the time o' day!
Seriously, give the guy a break. He was probably a total nerd growing up and he's now a pseudo-celebrity, and he's having trouble adjusting to the fame and attention. I'm sure it can be overwhelming. Doubt I'd do any better!
Just keep the great games coming, Cliff!
I never play it - too busy, and I'd rather play my 360/PS3 when I do have time.
Most Wii owners I know only have the console with the included games and that's it.
If my 3 year old wants a Wii when he's six or seven, I might consider getting one then, but for now, a 360 and a PS3 under my 1080P TV = Gaming Nirvana.
and gets blasted, while Sony makes empty promises and gets praised...
I'd rather have conformation that the things I hear are coming, are in fact based on reality than given pie-in-the-sky promises that never come to fruition or do years after they were initially given.
I'm no fanboy. I love the Playstation brand and Sony products...but these guys are ignorant. Pity...I expect more from ign.
I've never played a demo that I liked and been disappointed with the actual game.
And I've never played a terrible demo and had the reviews or gamers' opinions that the game was actually good, and the demo was a poor representation of the game.
How many people are actually playing the PS3 version? From all accounts, the game is basically dead.
All your mods and maps were wasted on the PS3.
And they buy game studios in name only because the actual talent bails after the takeover and goes elsewhere or forms a new company.
MS could definitly use some new IP. Hopefully Alan Wake looks good at the TGS...this could be the start of something good.
