If Microsoft can bounce back from the RRoD, Sony shouldn't have a problem with this. It'll be virtually forgotten about by 90% of those affected as soon as the PSN is up and running again.
I was planning on getting the PS3 version anyway. I love my Xbox, but it's went downhill since Microsoft began pushing Kinect. So, pretty much every game I buy nowadays is for the PS3. The only game I have plans on getting for Xbox this year is Gears 3, which sucks, because I was buying 20 to 30 games a year for my Xbox.
Anyone who trades there PS3 will be kicking themselves hardcore sideways come Fall when Uncharted 3 and Twisted Metal comes out. Just be patient and in time, PSN will be up and running and probably better than ever.
I think the success of the Wii and Kinect proved that MOST gamers are casual gamers, which means they're not likely to be daily gamers and DON'T follow sites like N4G. They're also the least likely to be frustrated over the down time. So, I can only LOL at your reply.
True. I've hated not being able to log-on to PSN all week, but now I'm playing the Gears 3 beta on XBL. So, I'm good for now.
I think the majority of PSN users will have no idea it's up for a few days. It's easy to feel like EVERYONE in the world reads N4G and therefore whatever happens here dictates what happens everywhere else as we're a PART of this community, but it's nothing like that in the real world. N4G readers are small potatoes compared to the 70 million world wise PSN users. Sure, we'll probably get the edge in knowing WHEN exactly it's up, but most everyone else will just happ...
I'm happy to have XBL right now, as well. Don't get me wrong.. I love my PS3 and have felt the frustration of everyone else all week, but Monday hit and so did the Gears 3 beta for me, so it's all good now. This kinda thing is WHY it's good to have multiple systems.. if one goes down, hit up another one.
I'd mark that ToS stuff down as legal mumbo jumbo to cover their arse in the event they decide NOT to give any kind of reimbursement. I mean, YES, technically, they don't have to do squat. BUT it would be GOOD BUSINESS to give SOMETHING considering the number of pissed off customers they have over this. GOOD business equals REPEAT business.
At this point, rather you're one of those that think you should be reimbursed or not, I think it would only be GOOD BUSINESS for Sony to give PSN users SOMETHING as a sign of appreciation for being patient and staying loyal to the Sony brand.
Most likely, I figure we'll get a free theme or mini game, but you never know.. Sony might be alittle more generous considering the amount of time we're talking and give up free (or heavily discounted) PSN title. Time will t...
And pay $60 to get in only a week early and get a gun I'll get anyway, only without the "flame"? NO THANKS.
I rented Bulletstorm. Beat it on it's hardest difficulty. Returned it. Other than for this ONE WEEK, I'd never have any use for that game again. Plus, I have the Gears 3 "Epic" edition pre-ordered and seeing how they're not releasing the contents of that edition (much like they didn't release the other ways you could get into...
That sucks. I was hoping it was going to be a day early access to all of who pre-ordered Gears 3, so we'd have an opportunity to earn the flaming hammerburst.
But that's okay, because tomorrow, IT'S ON! And I'm out for bunny vengeance.
My thoughts exactly. They're a major corporation, they should have the most top-notch security the world has to offer. What Sony did is like buying a kickass stereo system for your car and leaving your window rolled down overnight in a bad part of town. Even though somebody else CAUSED the problem, Sony, by not having better security, ALLOWED it to happen.
I use to not be concerned about hackers. I even thought it was kinda cool to know how to do that stuff. But my opinion of hackers has changed and now.. I support the capture and prosecution of any and all hackers who are responsible for the PSN outage. I don't care if Anonymous is responsible.. they attacked it before, so capture them and throw them all in jail, along with those involved.
Playing this game by yourself it is not the greatest, but still a decent game. The fun is in the co-op. But personally, I hate reviews - rarely read them. I'd rather form my own opinion on a game, rather than take the word of a total stranger.
Well, call me one of those idiots, because if I pay for something, I expect it to WORK. In this case, I paid for a PS3 (2 actually) and the ability to play online free is PART of the package I paid for. So, in that sense, I am being DENIED something I PAID for and therefore deserve some kind of compensation.
Consider this.. If the PS3 offered no online at all, how well would it have sold?
DCUO players should definitely get the days they missed added back to their subscriptions and I'm betting they probably will atleast get that if not more.
I'm a PS+ subscriber and while I agree that the service is mostly just about the DLC you can DL and play, regardless of an outage, I'm kinda hurting right now not being able to access the PS+'s cloud storage feature, which I've began using quite a bit. So, yes, in that way, it HAS effected my gaming to a very small degree.
But do I feel like the PSN community should be reimbursed or rewarded in some way? ABSOLUTELY! The ability to play online is part of the...
I'd buy Hey Jude in a heartbeat. LOVE The Beatles! And I still play the game every once in awhile when I'm in the mood.
Glad I picked this game up for PS3. Had no problems getting my Million Dollar Pack DLC, Honky Tonk or the Rhodes. Playing as Dusty Rhodes is a blast.
I don't like the idea of giving everybody free PS+.. it lessens the value of those who have actually paid for it, like myself.
What I think Sony should do is give ALL PSN users a free PSN title of their choice that would normally cost about $10 to $15. And give PS+ subscribers a choice of one of the FULL game downloads we currently get one-hour trials of. Those games usually run about $40, I think. Free dynamic themes and avatars for everyone, as well.
