IF Sony does drop the price of the PS3, I bet they'll say they did it as a "goodwill gesture" due to the hack, even though they probably had plans for a price drop anyway.
Can't say I blame them, though.
Was gonna go buy this game today, but GameFly is sending it to me. Can't wait to get into it. Kinda got tired of the LEGO games after LEGO Indy 2, but LEGO Harry Potter was good and I'm not even a HP fan. I am a POTC fan, though.. so, this should be good.
I have the Epic Edition pre-ordered, but with so much other stuff coming out this Fall, what would I rather have - a Marcus statue that'll collect dust on my shelf orrrr a game like Batman: Arkham City?
I'll probably still get the Collector's Edition, but I'm not sure about the Epic. Depends on it's awesomeness once I see a confirmed pic, I guess.
When I bought my copy of Mortal Kombat the deciding factor on which console I was getting it for had nothing to do with online play.. the deciding factor was KRATOS.
Your point has been made Anonymous.. you're good at what you do. But what do you expect is going to happen? Do you really think Sony or anyone is going to give in to your demands? NOT GONNA HAPPEN! EVER! No matter how hard you push.. It will NEVER, EVER HAPPEN! And the more you keep pushing Sony with these hacks, eventually, you're going to screw up and GET BUSTED. That WILL happen! Criminals ALWAYS screw up sooner or later. And yes, you are CRIMINALS. We're reading abou...
It's one thing to keep customers out of the loop.. it's another thing to just blatantly LIE to customers.
Sony has really dropped the ball this time. It's one thing to tell us they EXPECTED to have PSN online this week, but they told us it WOULD be online this week. Their handling of this situation has been ridiculous and I'm beginning to lose faith in them as a company.
I played Xbox for years before I got my PS3.. and they're starting to make me wish I had stayed loyal to my Xbox.
Sony is on the verge of really dropping the ball. Business rule #1 is make good on your promises. They said PSN would be online THIS WEEK.. well, some people consider Friday the last day of the week, some Saturday and some Sunday. I won't go as far as calling them straight up LIARS till Monday morning, but they're REALLY pushing it!
Not MUCH of an inconvenience, BUT an inconvenience nonetheless.
I was planning to get this for PS3 anyway.. not having to deal with disc swapping is just an added bonus.
I still haven't finished AC Brotherhood. Got started, but felt like I was playing a dumbed down version of AC2 without all the perks I had at the end of AC2. Made me feel like I was starting all over again, which made me lose interest QUICK. And I won't jump into AC Revelations until I finish AC Brotherhood, whenever that'll be.
I hate opinion pieces on N4G. I only end up reading them if I happen to not notice they're marked 'opinion', otherwise, I skip them.
But yea, a PS3 w/o PSN is far from useless for all the reasons you listed.
Just goto GameStop and put $5 down to preorder Gears 3, get your code, play the beta and if you're not wanting Gears 3 afterwards, next time you're in GameStop just cancel your preorder and get your $5 back.
Do that and you don't have to wait till the 8th.. you can be playing the beta TODAY.
You'll be able to keep whatever avatars, themes and add-ons you download or anything you buy that is discounted, such as games. The only thing you'll lose once your PS+ trial expires are any 'free' games you download and access to cloud saves.
@jack_burton
Yes, you'll get to keep the free themes and avatars, but cloud saves, like whatever free PS+ games you download, is something you'll lose once your PS+ free month expires. As for the discounts, if you go for them, congrats, Sony suckered you into spending MONEY. Ka-ching for them!
@joeorc
That's great if you're one of those gamers that have multiple region accounts. Otherwise you're just getting the 1 game....
What's interesting is that they're giving everybody a free month of PS+.. okay, the 'free' games that come with that only WORK while you're a PS+ subscriber. So, when your free month is up.. pay more or lose them. That's a nice way to sucker people in, Sony. Kudos to you.
yea, i downloaded both packs weeks ago on PS3. i love playing as dusty rhodes. i also downloaded my preorder bonus Million Dollar pack on PS3 on whatever date it was listed as being available on my receipt - i think it was back on the 19th.
@smashman98
I buy between 20 and 30 games a year. Not having $40 for a game has never been an issue for me.
Exactly. Even more time added wouldn't do me much good, as I would have renewed my PS+ anyway, so Sony would still be getting my money.. just later rather than now. Another problem with dealing with PS+ subscribers - we already get free games with our subscription. So IF Sony goes the route of giving up a free game, how do we know Sony wasn't going to give it to us as a PS+ deal anyway?
I think the best thing Sony can do, as I mentioned below.. is give all PSN user...
Never buy a USED console.
