Rockstar is seldomly impressive with character development or satire. There's too much padding which poorly paces character evolution and character motivation rarely ever sees any changes.
And sophisticated satire doesn't rely so heavily on shallow and cheesy caricatures. Taking something you can criticize and exaggerating it to the point it barely resembles what it realistically is only adds up to the simplest kind of satire. It just ends up being an amusing joke and...
"should follow their old rivals Sega"
That's all you need to see to realize this idea wouldn't have a good chance of panning out well.
Agreed, P4A would be an excellent fit on Vita.
I wrote this on another forum, thought I'd post it here:
"It's weird when you compare it to Shantae, which is asking for less than half of what Mighty No. 9 is and will in all likelyhood be a longer and more dynamic adventure than anything going off the template of Mega Man. Not to mention it was being developed for nearly every platform from the start, whereas MN9 needed over half of its minimum funding just to reach current-gen consoles.
If thi...
If this can offer good pricepoints, a streamlined building process, and run the vast majority of the Steam library efficiently then this may have a shot at winning over console gamers.
Doesn't seem like it will be anything new to PC gamers, though. Heck, it just sounds like a living room PC but probably with an easier physical architecture and UI to work with. I'll wait for the full details.
AAA has become too big for its own good. The competitve market has become more about selling out to popular (which eventaully become tired and generic) ideas for mass appeal than using creativity to stand out this generation. It's a crutch to compensate for these incresingly overbloated budgets; it's playing it safe. Some titles can work well with this environment, but not enough. It's become a rotten and restrictive place for fresh ideas to flourish.
The industry...
Next announcements will be on Wednesdays and Friday respectively. I was confused on what a "living room machine" was supposed to be. Nowhere on the page is it explained what exactly that is. But I guess it seems to be a living room PC, a concept many may not be familiar with.
Anyone who wouldn't know what OS means would be very confused. I'm sure what most people were looking for was an answer to "Is this Valve's new console or not?" due to the...
This article satire, right? :/
I haven't heard the most positive impressions from importers. They say the game recycles the vast majority of its design content from Xillia 1. Envrionments, monsters, ect.
I'd recommend reading the rest of the post. Particularly the part where I said I didn't have any big problem with this review. Given their bias that I've noticed to some AAA publishers, I don't trust them in general. Is that not fair to say?
Don't get so upset that you even have to play the typo police on me.
Gametrailers aren't really good reviwers, though my prominent problem with them is they tend to blatantly inflate their scores for big AAA games rather than anything pertaining to this particular review.
Seriously, just watch them slam the Assassin's Creed games throughout their reviews and then slap a 9+ score on them at the end. It's outright embarassing about how contradictory it is. That's when I stopped paying attention to them.
Some are justifying themselves, others aren't.
A few reviews don't even mention the Swift Sail and speak as if there was more than two brief stealth sections (one being a 3-minute sidequest) in the game. One review even said that being able to automatically change the wind direction took away from the "magic" of the game. Then there's a few twists-of-truth to some of the content of the game, like the Eurogamer one mentioning ghost ship*s* when there'...
Metacritic is helpful for finding reviews in one place. The "Metascore" thing is pretty useless, however.
I actually downloaded the original Shantae a few days ago on the 3DS eShop because the Kickstarter interested me in the series. I'm not very far yet and just got past the first "labyrinth" but I'm liking it so far.
I certainly don't think those criticisms have a place in a professional review meant to inform the average gamer of the strengths and weaknesses of the game, but I don't feel very strongly about it.
The rest of the points beyond the one opinionated about politics and misogyny bit are valid and the score is something I honestly believe gamers shouldn't give the slightest thought to. I'll take those relevant points for what they are and ignore the rest. Critics ...
It doesn't make sense. But it's nothing we haven't seen before (W101 got a few mentioning this) and nobody gave a peep.
It's not a big deal. People have the right to be idiots. Reviews are no stranger to this kind of thing and there's no reason to get self-righteous over it.
This is the internet. It happens all the time. No need to get upset over a pointless number below your text.
Uncharted needs a hiatus. I feel it kind of burned itself out in 3, having worn out its style of set-piece and and action-adventure novelty. I think it should be on break for a while longer.
I'd rather ND make another new IP. Their talent more than anyone should be going toward making new and fresh experiences.
I hope so.
How is this "ouch"? That they think the Wii U version will look noticeably better than the PS3/360 versions is good news.
